Obama administration erases online records from Bush era

Being a historian, Dr.Daniel Pipes is agitated because he cannot find thousands or maybe millions of pages and links which were in existence during the Bush era on the govt. websites. Countless online records and links which were readily available during the previous President's 8 years in office are now no longer in existence. Unbelievable.  This is no small thing and hopefully it's just a glitch or maybe they are working on additional space for their online urls.  If this is a deliberate act, it's another step towards where Obama wants to take America.

Here's a pet peeve: Through eight years of the two George W. Bush administrations, I linked hundreds of times to White House and Department of State documents, plus less frequently to other U.S. government departments and agencies. I made efforts to link to original documents (and not news articles, much less blogs) because, having earned a Ph.D. in history, I value primary sources.

I assumed during those years that the documents, being part of the U.S. government's permanent record, would remain available so long as the government and the internet were functioning – in other words, a long time.......

  1. Google is engaged in "cleaning" and selecting. I have noticed in my searched done for genealogy. Their new tool is disfunctional and "directed" to people who pay them.
