Dick Cheney interview

Interviewed by Chris Wallace on CIA, Torture, Iran, Iraq, etc.

The things an unscrupulous Leftish government does have no bounds

Lockerbie bomber 'set free for oil'. via Drudge Dirty tricks of the Labour Govt of UK
The British government decided it was “in the overwhelming interests of the United Kingdom” to make Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi, the Lockerbie bomber, eligible for return to Libya, leaked ministerial letters reveal. Gordon Brown’s government made the decision after discussions between Libya and BP over a multi-million-pound oil exploration deal had hit difficulties. These were resolved soon afterwards. The letters were sent two years ago by Jack Straw, the justice secretary, to Kenny MacAskill, his counterpart in Scotland, who has been widely criticised for taking the formal decision to permit Megrahi’s release. The correspondence makes it plain that the key decision to include Megrahi in a deal with Libya to allow prisoners to return home was, in fact, taken in London for British national interests.

Lakes of Canada by Innocence Mission

Rowing on the Lakes of Canada by Innocence Mission rsensorat3 is the poster of this lovely video at YouTube and has this to say:
This is a beautiful song by Innocence Mission - Lakes of Canada. My home province, Manitoba, is known as a prairie province but nothing could be further from the truth. It is really a maritime province. Water, water everywhere. Salt water and freshwater. Most of Manitoba is lakes. 100,000 of them to be approximate. Big ones (larger than Lake Erie) and small ones (smaller than Lake Erie) So even though the song is Lakes of Canada, the pictures are of lakes of Manitoba. Epilogue: Canadians are notoriously insecure and Manitobans are no exception. We would never write a song like Lakes of Canada - unless someone drowned or froze to death in it. So it comes as no surprise that the Innocence Mission come from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Damn, I forgot to credit Tom Canada for my favourite pic - a fellow Bomber cliff jumping into West Hawk Lake. (The lake a meteor built - from Tom's blog - Tom Canada's Canada. AND I also forgot the photos 'canoeing through a wildfire' and a 'satisfied, pipe smoking paddler' at day's end. I like the writers at America's Right

And you will too. Here is a very informative one by Nathaniel Givens.
......Then there's the suggestion that Obama's campaign team specializes in campaigning, and that they have not adapted well to executive responsibilities. This is almost certainly a genuine problem, especially given Obama's total lack of first-hand executive experience at any level, significant or otherwise. I recall Sarah Palin's line from the Republican National Convention: "I guess a small-town mayor is kind of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibilities." The same would apply, it seems, to campaign officials. Lastly, there is the hypothesis that Obama never had an elite campaign team to begin with. He had a complicit media that prostituted their credibility for a spot on the Making History Express. He also had an American people desperate for some happy fairy tale to invest in: a chance for racial redemption, change from the moral complexities and controversies of the War on Terror, and a shot at pretending 9/11 never happened. Now that many of Obama's most wide-eyed supporters in the media are actually working for his administration and Americans are realizing he can't deliver on his impossible promises, the protective cocoon around an inherently weak politician is crumbling...........
Fighting Dirty by Nathaniel Givens

Blogging will be light ....

having guests visiting us the next 2/3 days. Have to cook up a storm and make the whole house look pretty and nice.

Sarah Palin will be victorious, inspite of the Left's "tricks of the trade"

I am inspired to post this article on Palin, because of what I saw at CanadianCynic's blog vilifying Palin yet again and making a mention of yours truly in his usual nasty way. Go read what that vile blogger has to say, but if you would rather not, and kudos to you for making that excellent decision, I will pollute my own blog for this one time, hopefully, and quote here from Canadian Cynic.

Emphasis mine.
quote A quitbull and a dipstick. No, wait ... that doesn't sound right. The descent into screeching lunacy continues Palin won't show at fundraiser, denies accepting invitation TONIGHT: Spokeswoman says ex-governor was never asked. Organizers of an Anchorage event that has been billing Sarah Palin for weeks as a star speaker were left scrambling Wednesday after learning that the former governor won't be there for tonight's event and claims to have never been asked. The bestest part: It would be at least the fourth time in recent months that an anticipated Palin speech has fallen through after Palin and her camp disputed they had ever confirmed it. And despite the fact that Palin can't handle a simple calendar program, Blogging Tories "Hunter" and "Dodo" think she's qualified to run the most powerful country in the free world. The level of stupid contained there is just awesome, isn't it? unquote

First of all, ADN, the link that the blogger has given is a lefty media medium which has been tearing into Palin from the day the world learned she was going to be McCain's running mate. If you visit the link and take a peek into the comments and the language used therein you can tell outright that lefties are out in force to push Palin down into the gore and dirt that is their usual playground. ADN has been publishing so many items against Palin that one of these days I expect them to print something along these lines "Breaking News: Caught in Action, Palin wore the same panties for a straight 24 hours" that's how petty minded they are when it comes to Palin. Maybe Palin will give an explanation as to what really happened. Was she really scheduled to be at this event, or is it more than possible that Palin's people informed the event organizers that she would not be available for that date, but the event planners just went ahead with their advertising of Palin being the main speaker?  Every one knows by now that Palin's name will sell anything, just like it did with the One's name Once Upon a Time.

Okay done with that.. Now about this: John Ziegler who in 2008 wrote, directed, and produced the documentary "Blocking the Path to 9/11 and created HowObamaGotElected.com as a precursor to his next film, "Media Malpractice... How Obama Got Elected.” A teaser video for that documentary has already been viewed by at least 1.8 million people on YouTube has written this article on Palin:Sarah Palin:One Year Later which is worth reading for all Palin fans. Others keep out
So, what have we learned from Sarah Palin’s remarkable year? Hopefully, we have learned a lot. Among other things, we should have learned… That surprise announcements can often create more long-term perception problems than they are worth (at least when they come from Republicans). That to the media if you are a young, good looking, charismatic, non-white male without a long resume and are a conservative running for Vice-President, you are an embarrassment to the country. But if you are a young, good-looking, charismatic, non-white male without a long resume and are a socialist running for President, you are the Second Coming. That the candidate who told the truth the most during the 2008 campaign was Sarah Palin. That the media is perfectly willing and able to destroy someone’s character simply because it suits their political and economic agenda and will stop at nothing to do so.

Glenn Beck - Aug 28 - Obama's S773 bill on the Internet

Bailed out banks in USA are main fundraisers for Congress since Election

Wow - is it just me that finds this is utterly corrupt or is this the norm in politics everywhere?
Bailed-Out Banks’ PACs, Lobbyists Have Sponsored 70 Fundraisers for Congress, Donated $6 Million Since Election Public Citizen Report Shows Those Fighting Federal Oversight of Banking Industry Among Biggest Fundraisers WASHINGTON, D.C. - Lobbyists, political action committees (PACs) and trade associations tied to the banks receiving the most federal bailout money have scheduled 70 fundraisers for members of Congress since Election Day and have made $6 million in federal campaign contributions, according to a Public Citizen report released today. The report, "Bank-Rolling Congress," contains Public Citizen’s analysis of fundraiser invitations collected by the Sunlight Foundation and campaign contribution disclosures that lobbyists and lobbyist-affiliated PACs are required to make to the Senate. The study was based on an examination of the 10 banks receiving the most Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) money and five trade associations opposing a government agency to oversee consumer financial products. (The Sunlight data shows no fundraisers hosted by three of the 10 banks and one of the trade associations. One firm, SunTrust Bank, did not report any lobbying.)

Caster Semenya - and the gender controversy

I have to say something about Caster Semenya the teenager who is caught up in the gender controversy. I so hated to see her sad face when she stood at the podium to receive her medal in Berlin, knowing that the IAAF had started proceeding to get her to undergo a series of tests to prove she is indeed a female. I wish they had waited until after the award ceremonies to tell her, so she could at least savor the sweet feeling of her fantastic victory over the other runners in the 800 meter world championship. I am rooting for her and hoping that she will be vindicated when the tests prove that she is indeed a female. So what if she spouts a moustache and looks like a guy. Here's a pic of her and she does not look like she is hiding anything - if you get my drift. I am sure many of us know or can recall at least one female who looked, sounded and acted like a male and vice versa. I believe gender testing used to be mandatory for female athletes at the Olympics, however, they stopped those screenings in 1999. The change in the policy was because all women do not have standard female chromosomes and many cases have been found of people who have ambiguous genitalia or other congenital conditions. Caster is a freshman at the University of Pretoria and studies sports science. Her strength in the sports arena has been attributed to rigorous training.

Cindy Sheehan protests but there are no shouts of Lights-Camera-Action

CindySheehan Aug27 A poster on the tiny little article that MSNBC published about Sheehan's protest to "prove" to readers that they are being "fair" says:
Maybe Cindy Sheehan would like to go over to Afghanistan and "reason" with the Taliban so they won't attack America or our interests any more. While she is there she can pay a visit to Osama Bin Laden and have a chat with him too. She can possibly convince these nice people to leave us alone.
Sheehan has got it in for Bush and Israel. She never lets an opportunity go by, without jabbing at either or both. In this article MSNBC has her saying: "Just because he's (Obama) better than Bush doesn't sell me, because practically everybody in the world is better than Bush." And that remark got posters riled up:
Is Charles Manson better then Bush? He (Manson) would fit right in with the Democrats. Maybe he could be their party leader. Or run for the Senate in MA.
WOW! WOW! WOW! Come on Lefties stick up for Osama Bin Biden! Trouble in the Red Brigade ranks. Call out the Commissars to get her in the re-education camp quickly. Cut to happy scenes of Obama at Marthas Vineyard. All is well workers, return to your jobs, if you are lucky enough to have one
Sheehan is "not better that Bush."
This vid is the only thing on Utube I could find. No fanfare, no media for Sheehan not anymore. The vid is probably the work of her own videographer and it does not even pan outwards to show you the crowd, guess there were only the few we can see in the video. So folks - there you have it. When Bush was in office, and the Left wanted to milk the anti-war protests they were all over Sheehan and now ....its Buh Byeeeeee Cindy, just disappear. Wars are good under Obama, they were bad under Bush. Ohhhhh... the double standards of the lefties!! . Saw something at Associated Press on the same topic, but did not open the item. I have boycotted AP as they are associated with Soros so news from AP will be slanted and false.

Saskatchewan knows how to deal with killer authors

Criminals in Saskatchewan who want to make a tidy profit by penning their tales while in the pen, will not be able to keep a single penny from the sale of their books. Someone in Saskatchewan knows how to deal with the scum you throw in prison. Colin Thatcher has written a memoir where he claims he was framed in the murder of his ex-wife. And, to think this guy was a cabinet minister, and is the son of a former Saskatchewan premier gives me the shivers. I guess when you are rich and powerful you tend to think you can get away with anything, even murder. Thatcher who is presently on parole will regain full freedom this fall having served his life sentence. It's a good thing the victim's parents are dead and gone. Mindelle Jacobs writes in the Winnipeg Sun:
It is unlikely many people will read convicted killer Colin Thatcher's new book in which he argues he was framed for his ex-wife's murder. But if anyone does buy the book, the Saskatchewan government expects Thatcher, who served 22 years in jail for the killing, to hand over every penny he makes from the sales. Saskatchewan passed special proceeds of crime legislation in the spring and the province's justice officials are confident the law is broadly worded enough to capture Thatcher's book, Final Appeal: Anatomy of a Frame. The Profits of Criminal Notoriety Act includes the phrase "thoughts or feelings" about a particular crime which the authorities believe will allow them to seize any profits Thatcher makes from his book. Recounting a crime even "indirectly" allows the Saskatchewan government to step in and take an author's proceeds

Pamela Geller: A Woman of our Times

When popular blogger and activist Pamela Geller sinks her pretty little teeth into any cause she espouses, she tears into it like there is no tomorrow, builds up her case and then sees it through to a successful conclusion. We have seen her success in the case of Canadian Aqsa's tombstone controversy, and now thankfully we see the success of her endeavors in the case of apostate Rifqa Bary. From WashingtonTimes: Apostate girl Rifqa Bary will not be sent back to her parents And this is why Pamela Geller fought so hard and furiously.

h/t Joe According to the poster of this video in YouTube, this monstrous deed was done in Iran. I have my doubts about that because the kid is more dark-skinned than most Iranians. This could be Iran as the poster says, but it could very well have happened in Pakistan or Bangla Desh. No matter where this horrible act was committed, it goes to show that the Human Rights Organization and the UN are blind to any kind of atrocity that happens anywhere else other than Gaza, and they act against Israel on allegations and not like this proof positive caught on video. What does that tell you - to me it screams " there are a lot of Jew-haters in the HRO and UN." My apologies for making you watch this horrible act so early in the day.
The poster says: "As to the thief, male of female, cut off his or her hands. A punishment by way of example, from Allah, for their crime" (Surah al-Ma'idah, 38)." Taken from the Koran Itself. An 8 Year old child was caught in a market in iran for stealing bread and gets arm crushed by car

Unemployment in USA is likely 16% says Atlanta Fed Chief

Although the Fed chief says unemployment is 16%, he still thinks "a sluggish recovery is underway".
The real US unemployment rate is 16 percent if persons who have dropped out of the labor pool and those working less than they would like are counted, a Federal Reserve official said Wednesday. "If one considers the people who would like a job but have stopped looking -- so-called discouraged workers -- and those who are working fewer hours than they want, the unemployment rate would move from the official 9.4 percent to 16 percent, said Atlanta Fed chief Dennis Lockhart. He underscored that he was expressing his own views, which did "do not necessarily reflect those of my colleagues on the Federal Open Market Committee," the policy-setting body of the central bank
Via Drudge: unemployment likely as high as 16 percent

Iran thumbs its nose at the USA and the world

The abomination in Iran that goes by the name Ahmadinejad, has nominated a terrorist to the post of Defense Minister. I think USA will live to regret their decision that they did not show even a shred of moral support to the uprising which was bound to fail without the blessing of the USA. What a waste of young lives and what a waste of the golden opportunity that was given to the world to bring about a change in Iran, any change would have been better than the death squads raping and killing the detainees in prison. History will note, and the words will not be kind, when the tale of the failed uprising is told it will show how the world ignored an oppressed people who were thirsty for freedom but their cries fell on deaf ears. MiamiHerald
Incredibly, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran has nominated a suspected international terrorist to become the country's next defense minister. As a gesture of sheer contempt for what the world thinks of Iran and its government, this is hard to beat. Ahmad Vahidi is wanted by Interpol in connection with a deadly 1994 attack on a Jewish community center in Argentina that killed 85 people and left 151 wounded. He is also a former commander of the Quds Force, the external operations branch of the Revolutionary Guards, and a suspect in the 1996 attack on the U.S. Air Force barracks in Saudi Arabia. Yet this is the man Mr. Ahmadinejad would place in a key government position -- in charge of Iran's armed forces. The nomination is an affront to every nation that believes in justice and the rule of law. Obviously, Mr. Ahmadinejad does not share those values, and neither do any members of the Iranian Parliament who would vote to confirm the nomination.

Swine Flu and conspiracy theories

Okay, I admit it. I am paranoid and I have a suspicious nature. I cannot get rid of this nasty, nagging feeling that WHO is making mountains out of a molehill with the swine flu issue. I will keep calling it that and not the other H1 something just because I love going out of my way to be IMpolitically correct.

Maybe, WHO has a reason, some other reason than the swine flu thing. I don't know. You be the judge and decide for yourself why so many UK and Canadian health care workers are refusing to take the vaccine. Do they know something that we the little nobodies are not aware of.

Like I said, I am a suspicious person, but I pale before the owner of the linked website, Jane Burgermeister. She happens to be a "science journalist" and is filing a suit against WHO. I have not done any further research but it sounds intriguing from the few sentences I read. I have no idea if she is just a little paranoid like me, or only a nut (a big macadamia one) or deadly serious about her accusation that WHO is planning .....bioterrorism. Did you spill your coffee all over the keyboard ? I almost did.

Anyway, worth reading the other bits she has collected regarding swine flu.

GO Glenn GO

This is the way REAL men think and talk.

Glenn Beck used his popular Fox News show this afternoon to attack the background of Van Jones, a White House environmental advisor who co-founded an African American political advocacy group that organized an advertising boycott of his program.
During his 2 p.m. PDT show, Beck did not address the boycott spearheaded by Color of Change to protest the talk show host’s remark last month that he believes President Obama is “a racist.”
Instead, he spent a large share of his program suggesting that Jones, who co-founded Color of Change in 2005, is a radical. Jones now serves as a special advisor for Green Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation at the White House Council on Environmental Quality.
During a six-minute biographical profile, set to ominous music, Beck said Jones was twice arrested for political protests and has described himself as a "rowdy black nationalist." The talk show host cast the piece as part of a broader examination of Obama's "czars," special advisers to the president who "don't answer to anybody."
Glenn Beck back from vacation and more energized than ever

The darkness of the Iranian nation and for that matter all Muslim regimes

Words fail me - via Religion of Peace

I dread going to the Religion of Peace website for several reasons, main ones being:

They have an "Islamic Terrorists Attacks since 9/11" counter and I fear to look at it. Today it is showing 13911. I remember seeing that figure at less than 11000 a few months ago. And mind you, this is only the number of attacks carried out by muslim nuts, not the number of human beings killed in the attacks;

It is depressing to read about women getting disfigured with acid thrown in their faces for the slightest wrongdoing and these incidents happen more frequently than you would want to know and in many countries;

Being good and understanding to Muslim nuts will get us nowhere. Absolutely NOWHERE.

What do you call a President who calls his own country a bully?

Jeff Schreiber has this indepth article at America's Right on how "released CIA documents show that interrogation of high-value detainees provided life-saving and attack-preventing intelligence" and I agree with him wholeheartedly.

Although I am a Canadian, just reading about the Obama thugs out to crucify CIA agents makes me want to throw up, and so I can well imagine and sympathise with Americans of the "right calibre" who are going through the unbelievable nightmare brought onto them by the Numero Uno Chicago hoodlum.

I can make an easy prediction here that Schreiber's blog will get to the top 10 best Conservative blogs in no time, if they are not there already. The blog contributors tell it like it is. Safe for a Reason

Rules of Immigration Canada - some are pretty dumb

I want to rant a little about one of our immigration laws that just do not make sense, more so during these times. I will only talk about a personal experience where I have enough information, and can give you the case as it stands.

My nephew was accepted as a new immigrant along with his young wife and son aged 2, about three years ago. They arrived here in Toronto and got all their papers done, got their new Canadian passports, got their driving licences, etc.etc. and then after a month or so returned to their jobs in Dubai so they could work there for the 3-year grace period which new immigrants are given by Canada Immigration to finalize their affairs overseas before making Canada their home once and for all.

I advised them at that time that they should save mightily during the 3-year period and have enough money in their account to tide them over for at least 6 months just in case they both remained unemployed for that long, after their arrival in Canada.

That was then. Now with the recession in full swing, all bets are off.

My nephew approached the Canadian Consulate in Dubai with a request to extend the "grace period". The reason he gave was, as both husband and wife are presently holding good jobs, and as Canada is going through a recession, it would be foolhardy to resign from their employment to come to Canada and be left high and dry here for who knows how long. He was refused outright. Rules are rules, he was told. Everyone has the same excuses, he was told.

Does this make sense to you? I understand that rules are rules and I am all for following rules if they make sense to me. This particular one does not make sense given the recession we are going through.

Does Immigration Canada want to stand by this rule which does not make sense now given the recession, and let new immigrants come to Canada leaving their jobs and then going on welfare here because they cannot find any? I simply don't get it.

The tricks shysters use to prey on the unemployed

Today while surfing around reading online newspapers, I happened to see an ad in the Victoria Star classifieds which read: quote: $650 WEEKLY P/T Reading online banner ads, start immediately, www.hitnetworx.com Bonus Code DG1. unquote Right off, I knew this was a scam and I thought why not write about this instead of blowing my top over politics. So, I visited their website and at the very top is their enticement to ensnare people looking to find employment. According to them they are the "#1 Online Guaranteed Traffic Advertising Agency. We provide companies with quality Internet advertising solutions that are guaranteed, targeted and effective. We provide millions of hists and quality ad exposures every month for our clients......" and then they show you the logos of the clients that they supposedly represent. and then they want you fill out a form to see if there are any openings in your area of residence. Of course, I ventured further into this labyrinth of internet scams as I wanted to see how hard they were kicking people who are already down having lost their jobs in these hard times. I typed in one of my email accounts and got this Congratulations. Hitnetworx is currently accepting home workers in your region..... And then the cheap sales pitch : " Important Notice" Due to overwhelming response to this offer we will soon have to close our doors to new participants. We are very sorry for the inconvenience. As of (the date shown was today, but if you go in there tomorrow or the day after, it will show that date, wanna bet?) we have 4 remaining spots. if you would like to guarantee your spot with us, you will have to take action immediately. we will not be accepting any more applicants once these positions are filled. Further down the page there are loads of photographs of people who registered and are now happy they did as they have found this company has given him easy work and they are so pleased they took the step to register, blah blah blah All you have to do to join this exclusive workers' band is to make a one time payment of: "41.89 CAD Please note all Money Orders will process the same day we receive them. Checks will require a 2-5 day hold. Once they clear the information will be sent out. It is faster to use a money order. Saving 2-5 days" When I tried to exit the website, I got this: Rina Says:Hey Wait! If you order now I can offer you an additional 50% Discount so you can get started for just $19.95! (Normally $39.90) That's $20 off our original asking price! To take advantage of this one off deal just CLICK HERE Rina Says:When you are ready, type 'hi' and we can get started... Rina Says:So if you want to start Making Money on the internet from your own home sign up for the 'HITNetworx' today! Rina Says:Okay, I'll be moving on now... Last chance... Just type 'hi' to chat with me today. Or to get your additional 50% discount As I have nothing better to do these days, I started a chat with Rina the bot and got her going all crazy. The bot is programmed to spew out auto responses. When I typed in "bot bot bot". The bot comes back with: "No, I am a virtual sales person :}" If you have time on your hands, go harrass the bot. I wonder how many people have actually registered and how many from the photographs are either on the scam or were given genuine jobs for a couple of days to make it all sound authentic. Cheating and scamming people looking for jobs is fast becoming a very profitable business for those who do not have even an atom of moral ethics.

George Soros - Evil as Evil can be

Judie Brown, President of the American Life League is deeply troubled by the forces of evil as seen in the persona of George Soros and his influence with ObamaCare .
There is a man whose money has facilitated a wide variety of projects in this country and abroad. His name is George Soros, and his ventures run the gamut from politics to helping the poor. Among them, there is his extraordinary work in the area of palliative care (pain relief), death and dying. In view of the rant currently being propagated by the Pallimed blog, which is a commentary on news and items of interest to hospice and palliative medicine, there is a need to dig deeper and explore the underlying philosophy among those who are outraged that people like me are saying something negative about their agenda.

Who will cry for the Christians in Nigeria

Christians in north Nigeria live under the threat of violence and death, every single day of their lives. Hundreds of Christians have been persecuted and killed and hundreds of churches destroyed, Christian homes burnt down, and now after the recent killing rampage a few weeks ago, it looks like the Nigerian authorities are planning to control "religious preachers" and hopefully that does not translate to only "Christian preachers". The northern region of Nigeria is where the trouble usually occurs with Muslim fundamentalists killing and burning of churches and Christian homes.Countless Christians are now displaced and homeless. Hard-line Islamic groups are opposed to Western education and want to impose strict Shariah laws on even Nigerian Christians. Fundamentalists from an Islamic group called Boko Haram capture Christians and torture them until they agree to convert to Islam. Reports of these forceful conversions are coming in from all over the northern region. The incidents of Muslim violence against Christians is on the rise in north Nigeria. The MSM hardly touched on the bloodshed in Nigeria. If it had been Israel or Hamas or Hezbollah, the MSM would have been roaring like lions with negative statements thrown at Israel. The only time I saw something about Nigeria's was when they reported about a gun battle being fought against "rebels who attacked a police station". Those rebels were actually members of the Boko Haram group . No mention was made about Christians being killed or tortured. In the dialect of Nigeria's north, the name Boko Haram means "Western education is sinful".Boko Haram's atrocities commenced in mid July and ended in the Islamic militants being killed by Nigerian police forces in the gun battle that the MSM reported. Although some reports say that this group has no support from the largely peaceful Muslim population of Nigeria, they have still managed to sign up enough fundamentalists and are proving to be good strategists. The fact that they could launch attacks on three police stations in three different States of north Nigeria should tell you that this group is not as light-weight as many news outlets claim them to be. The questions now being raised in Nigeria are: How could such an Islamic fundamentalist group wreck such widespread and devasting havoc on Christians in the north and why were their activities not on the authorities' radar? And, more importantly, who or what organization funded and armed them? The concern is that the remnants of this group will reassemble and regroup. It does not take much to set the Muslim fundamentalist tempers ablaze and reports of killings and ramage are now on almost a weekly basis.Just a couple of days ago, they were at it again Nigeria's population is approx. 150 M. Southern parts of Nigeria are mainly Christian and Christians make up approx 40% of the entire population. The north is mainly Muslim. The north is where the Islamic fundamentals create trouble as it is a stronghold of Muslims with half the states under Shariah law

I feel sorry for Cindy Sheehan ... I really do

Remember how the media brought her into our homes almost every day. Everybody knew who Cindy Sheehan was as the media made sure you did not forget her anger towards Bush and her hatred for war. There are pics of her all over the internet, images of the media make-up gals/guys hovering all over Sheehan, pampering her, powdering her, combing her, making her presentable to the camera's eye. The media did not allow her to grieve in peace for her 24 yr old son killed in Iraq in 2004. The media fanned the flames of her grief to such an extent that grief turned into unreasonable and unrelenting hatred towards George Bush whom she blamed for the war which cost her son's life. Her anger was explosive and very vocal and the media being the slaves of the Left, did their part to show every protest she participated in and every time she opened her mouth to defile the President, the media were there. She was truly the media's darling. So, now it comes as a big let down for this poor naive woman to see the media ignoring her and wanting her to just go away when she announced her intention of holding a protest against the war in Afghanistan at Obama's holiday spot, Martha's Vineyard. During George Bush's era, there would have been no fewer than a dozen media outlets making their way to Martha's Vineyard and setting up tents to await the anti-war activist. Now, they want her to just Shut Up and Go Away. Watch this video. Did the media ever ask her the questions during Bush's time, that they are asking her now in the time of Obama? Oh the hypocrisy of the media and the Left has no end. No end at all. It must be a sobering experience and a cause for deep grief to see that she was just a tool of the Left. That is the reason why I feel sorry for Cindy Sheehan, a naive woman full of grief for her dead son, who unknowingly became malleable material in the hands of the deceitful Left. I am waiting to see how much coverage they will give of her protest at Martha's Vineyard - whenever and if it happens.

Sarah Palin and Dick Cheney are Obama's nemeses

From The Wall Street Journal: .........By making the case against Mr. Obama's policies, Republicans have given themselves a chance to again win favor with voters. Better yet, they've stopped bad policies in their tracks. Consider Dick Cheney's decision to challenge Mr. Obama's inclination to go soft in the war on terror in a speech at the American Enterprise Institute in May. By winning the argument that the nation needs a vigorous defense against al Qaeda, Mr. Cheney left Mr. Obama little choice but to stick with such Bush era policies as rendition of captured terrorists, immunity for telecommunication companies that cooperated with wiretapping possible terrorists, and targeting terrorist leaders for assassination. Mr. Cheney also took issue with Mr. Obama's announcement that he was going to close the prison in Guantanamo. The former vice president said that the decision came with "little deliberation and no plan." And he was right. Mr. Obama put himself in a trap. To close the prison, his administration might have to import terrorists into the U.S. "On this one, I find myself in complete agreement with many in the president's own party," Mr. Cheney said. He continued: "Unsure how to explain to their constituents why terrorists might soon be relocating in their states, these Democrats chose instead to strip funding for such a move out of the most recent war supplemental." The media, the White House and even some Republicans questioned the wisdom of an unpopular Mr. Cheney taking on Mr. Obama while he was still in the honeymoon phase of his presidency. But Mr. Cheney's was right, and he carried the day. Or consider Sarah Palin's controversial statement that Mr. Obama's health-care plan would establish "death panels" capable of denying care to seniors. Like Mr. Cheney, she was denounced as a know-nothing. But Mrs. Palin accomplished what no one else had. She put a national spotlight on the dubious end-of-life policies in the ObamaCare legislation. Columnists disputed her claim, then realized she had a point. The death panels are dead, for now. Today, the strategy of strong opposition to Mr. Obama seems obvious. But it didn't appear that way to many Republicans after their crushing electoral defeats in 2006 and 2008. Republicans were afraid that crossing Mr. Obama would only make the public dislike them all the more. WSJ Republicans have Obama playing defense

Milton Friedman and the Pencil

"Not a single person in the world can make a pencil"

Justice Sotomayor's first public decision was....

to delay execution of an Ohio man but it failed.
Justice Sonia Sotomayor is getting into the swing of being a member of the Supreme Court. Sotomayor made what appears to be her first public decision as a justice on Monday, voting unsuccessfully to delay the execution of an Ohio death row inmate. She voted along with the court's liberal bloc Justices John Paul Stevens, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer to stop the execution of Jason Getsy, whose execution is Tuesday. Getsy had asked the nation's high court Monday to allow him to challenge Ohio's lethal injection system as cruel and unusual punishment. The court's other five justices voted to deny the stay.

Milton Friedman: "Govt. protects Drug Cartels"

Mexico is decriminalizing possession of small amounts of marijuana, ecstasy, cocaine and heroin for personal use. I am of the opinion that it is a good thing and Canada should follow suit. Listen to Milton Friedman before you go off your rocker.

Prince Edward Island and "come from away"

This is a fascinating article about Prince Edward Island. If you were not born on PEI, you would be known as CFA which means "come from away". Made me think of those Russian nesting dolls, you know the ones where you can keep on peeling to find several more inside the layers. Goes to prove how very mysterious and exotic all our people happen to be. Learning about Canada and its people is a never ending lovely endeavor. It's a good article overall, however, I definitely do not agree with the view of Dr.Baldacchino as portrayed by the writer Teresa Wright. Emphasis mine. quote: In a recent report compiled for the provincial Population Secretariat, UPEI Professor Dr. Godfrey Baldacchino found many newcomers to P.E.I. feel the marked distinction between themselves and “real” Islanders is cold, unwelcoming and sometimes just plain discriminatory. The report surveyed recent immigrants to P.E.I. about their reasons for coming to the Island and wanting to stay and, for those who left, the factors that made them want to leave. Among the 257 respondents who shared their stories in the survey, “the alleged closed-mindedness of Islanders” was the most common explanation given by newcomers for wanting to leave. “Many of them are fairly concerned about the labelling that’s going on,” Baldacchino said. A settler to P.E.I. from another province or country is often referred to as a CFA (Come-From-Away). But this label is seen as prejudiced and mean-spirited by many new residents. Baldacchino said he believes the designation of newcomers as ‘CFAs’ borders dangerously on outright racism. “It’s creating a class of second-class citizens who will never be able to belong and I think that’s an issue.” As an immigrant to P.E.I. himself, Baldacchino knows first-hand how difficult it can be to integrate into Island society. He always gets questions about where he’s from, especially due to his foreign name and accent. When he tells people he’s from Charlottetown, they just laugh and ask, ‘No, but where are you really from?’ “This is something that is very painful because it all the time means that I can’t belong,” he said. unquote Now, I simply cannot see why Baldacchino thinks that the phrase "come from away" is racist. It is a natural turn of language. Being an immigrant myself and one of the visible minorities, if someone were to ask me "where are you from?" I would welcome the question. Firstly, because someone is showing an interest in my origins and secondly because I think that is a natural question if you have a friendly and inquisitive mind. It has nothing to do with racism like this dopey Dr.Baldacchino is suggesting. Pompous fools like Dr.Baldacchino go out of their way to create a feeling of racism where none is intended. And pray tell us Dr.Baldacchino, how many people, that actually left the island for other places said they did not like the "closed-mindedness of Islanders"? Were there 2 who said that, were there 3? I liked the attitude of the ex-Texan Debbie Crowther who moved to PEI a few years ago. Read the article but ignore the nonsense spurted by the so called "provincial Population Secretariat, UPEI" Dr.Baldacchino. AreYouAnIsland by Teresa Wright

I had a dream last night ....

I dreamt I was having a long conversation with Suaad Hagi Mohamud. It went like this:
Dodo: Suaad I am glad you are now back here with us. It must have been a bad experience for you
SHM: Yes, yes it was very very bad.
Dodo: I read somewhere that you are ill because of the 1 week you spent in Nairobi's Langata Women's Prison.
SHM: Yes that is true
Dodo: Were the other inmates too suffering from respiratory problems like yourself?
SHM : I don't know
Dodo: You know... I am just asking so I can write to Human Rights Org and the UN about Nairobi's prisons SHM: I don't know
Dodo: Okay, let's forget that. Can you tell me what exactly the Canadian woman of Egyptian background, at the CHC in Nairobi said to you?
SHM: None of your business.
Dodo: She said that?
SHM: No - I am saying that to you.
Dodo: Okay, let's forget that too. Why do you think all this happened with the CHC in Nairobi and the Kenyan authorities?
 SHM: Because I am black
Dodo: Uh??? I don't get it. You mean you go to a black country and they do this to you because they do not like their own color?
SHM: No. I am saying Canadian Govt let it happen because I am black
Dodo: Ummmm ... you know that is not true... but let's move on to the good part now. You will become a Millionairess!! If you win the suit, that is.
SHM: Yes. But money is not important to me, I just want to tell the evil Harper govt not to do same to other people.
Dodo: Er... Sauud ... er... all those bloggers who were writing on your behalf every day, will you give them a small something if you get your 2.5M dollars from evil Harper.
SHM: Of course I will. They said every day that evil Harper and his govt are mean and bad to brown and black people. They are right you know.
Dodo: You don't think they said all that because they are from the opposition parties?
SHM: No. Of course not. They are good people you know. Harper is evil.
Dodo: How much will you give to the two bloggers who were writing so much about you ?
SHM: None of your business.
Dodo: How much will you give to the reporters of the MSM ?
SHM: None of your business.
Dodo: Did your lawyer get any advice from the Arar's lawyers or from Arar himself?
SHM: None of your business
Dodo: Do you know that the two bloggers who were writing about you, they never write about the plight of other black and brown people in Kenya and anywhere else.
SHM: So what. Those other people are not Canadian, so they don't count.
Dodo: Even if they are from your own country of Somalia?
SHM: I am Canadian and evil Harper does not like black and brown people and I want to teach him a lesson. I don't care about anything else.
Dodo: Did your lawyer tell you that?
SHM: None of your business.
Dodo: How much will you donate to the NDP?
SHM: None of your business.
Dodo: I too wrote about you, but only once, will I get something ?
SHM: Get lost. No soup for you!!
Dodo: Oh - you like Seinfeld too. Something in common at last.

And then I woke up. Hope this won't be a recurring dream.

Sarah Palin - using her whip once again

If you write anything nice about Sarah Palin, out will come the lefty banshees doing their dance on red hot coals saying all sort of negative things about Palin and the writer. I love the spectacle they provide. No other woman (or man, for that matter) can give us the pleasure of seeing the Left screeching to high heaven and tearing out clumps of hair (if they have any, that is) the moment you say Sarah Palin. Its like you tip toe softly and quietly behind a leftie's back and then yell "BOO", only the "BOO" is now replaced with just saying the name "Sarah Palin" ever so softly. quote from Palin facebook entry a few hours ago. ....You would think that any effort to reform our health care system would include tort reform, especially if the stated purpose for Obama’s plan to nationalize our health care industry is the current high costs. So I have new questions for the president: Why no legal reform? Why continue to encourage defensive medicine that wastes billions of dollars and does nothing for the patients? Do you want health care reform to benefit trial attorneys or patients? Many states, including my own state of Alaska, have enacted caps on lawsuit awards against health care providers. Texas enacted caps and found that one county’s medical malpractice claims dropped 41 percent, and another study found a “55 percent decline” after reform measures were passed. That’s one step in health care reform. Limiting lawyer contingency fees, as is done under the Federal Tort Claims Act, is another step. The State of Alaska pioneered the “loser pays” rule in the United States, which deters frivolous civil law suits by making the loser partially pay the winner’s legal bills. Preventing quack doctors from giving “expert” testimony in court against real doctors is another reform. Texas Gov. Rick Perry noted that, after his state enacted tort reform measures, the number of doctors applying to practice medicine in Texas “skyrocketed by 57 percent” and that the tort reforms “brought critical specialties to underserved areas.” These are real reforms that actually improve access to health care. Dr. Weinstein’s research shows that around $200 billion per year could be saved with legal reform. That’s real savings. That’s money that could be used to build roads, schools, or hospitals. If you want to save health care, let’s listen to our doctors. There should be no health care reform without legal reform. There can be no true health care reform without legal reform. unquote Sarah Palin Aug 21

Yesterday's tornadoes in Ontario

Pics of the devastation. One death. A child aged 11 died in Durham where he was attending a day camp. It was heart breaking to hear that efforts by his mother and others to revive him were unsuccessful. It's a miracle that there were no more deaths. Wish there had been none. Most parts of Toronto had a heavy down pour but some parts of Toronto were badly hit. Residents of Martin Grove Road area are devastated. This one was in Vaughan, Toronto The hardest hit was Durham and surrounding areas. Also, Vaughan Mills, Markdale, Woodbridge, Maple and others suffered damage to houses and streets are still littered with uprooted trees. There were reports of small light cars being lifted up in the air and panicked motorists were leaving their light vehicles on the road side and thumbing rides with others.

Our Canadian Treasures - Quiet Lake, Yukon

This one for commenters Gerry and KC - lovers of lakes From what I have been reading, Quiet Lake is supposed to be the largest of three lakes that feed the Big Salmon River system. John McCormack, one of four miners who prospected the Big Salmon River and parts of the Yukon River in gold, gave the lake its majestic and aptly fitting name "Quiet Lake". Quiet Lake extends to a good 30 km lake in length. As you can see from the vid below, the opportunities to see wildlife is in aplenty. Quiet Lake is now considered to be a Yukon Territory park and is located about halfway between Johnson's Crossing and Ross River on Yukon Highway 6, the Canol Road. Quiet Lake has a 20-site campground on its shoreline. To get to this beautiful lake, you will have to travel the Canol Highway, the name is a shorten form of "Canadian Oil" as there was a pipeline built there during World War II.
"The Canol Highway is actually short for “Canadian Oil” and was originally built during World War II. It was thought that with the construction of the Alaska Highway and the presence of the military in the area a source of fuel was needed. So, a road and pipeline were built from Norman Wells in the NWT all the way to Whitehorse, Yukon where a refinery was built. The total length on the pipeline was an impressive 1000 km or 600 miles. Oil actually only flowed for one year from 1944-1945 before the project was mothballed due to poor production from the oil fields at Norman Wells. The Canol road, now maintained by the Yukon Government during the summer months, is the only remains of this considerable endeavor."
This great video shows a part of the Quiet Lake. The makers of the video, Lutz Petereit and Manfred Strauss have this to say: "scenes from our movie about canoeing on Big Salmon River in the Yukon Territory in Canada from Quiet Lake to Carmacks. 360Km in 10 days, 10.-20. Sept. 2004" They come from Germany to our part of the world and have a great love for the Yukon which they plan to visit again next year. Lines from Robert Service's "Spell of the Yukon" There's a land where the mountains are nameless, And rivers all run God knows where; There are lives that are erring and aimless, And deaths that just hang by a hair. There are hardships that nobody reckons; There are valleys unpeopled and still; There's a land-oh, it beckons and beckons, And I want to go back-and I will. And, here is a book you might want to read: Song Over Quiet Lake by Sarah Felix Burns which is a "The magical story of friendship between twenty-something Sylvia Hardy and Lydie Jim, an eighty-two year old Tlingit elder from the Yuko"

Iran Threatens to ban Hajj

From Iran Daily via Religion of Peace Iran might ban Hajj Iran says pilgrimage to holy cities in Saudi Arabia would be banned unless Saudi officials agree to change their disrespectful and offensive behavior toward Iranian pilgrims. “The future pilgrimage of Iranians to Saudi Arabia will depend on whether the government in that country would treat them with the respect they deserve,“ said Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, Presstv reported on Tuesday. Mottaki made the remarks in a meeting with the outgoing Saudi ambassador, Osama bin Ahmad Al-Sonousi, while condemning the systematic mistreatment of Iranian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia. The warning comes after a series of shocking reports shed light on the serious misconduct of Saudi police in dealing with Iranian pilgrims. The controversy surfaced publicly in 2007 when the Saudi police started fingerprinting Iranian pilgrims--a move that caused an outcry in the Tehran government.

A suggestion

Climbing out of the Darkness has a great write-up today. Great going Hunter. Combined with Hunter's article and this one I just read at Biased BBC blogspot I would like to put forth the following: How about one of us at BT introduce a blog where about a dozen of us regular contributors to BT are given access to contribute any untruth or videos of snide remarks or looks that we see at CBC and CTV ?? Biased BBC has 5 contributors and they depend on other viewers to give them leads and links. If nothing else, we would at least be able to keep a record of the many, many snide and spiteful remarks and looks, the presenters of CBC and CTV are assailing us with on a daily basis. Also, if someone starts a blog on these lines, please put me down as one of the contributors. Think about it.

Reiteration that the woman Barney Frank was yelling at, WAS a LOONY LEFTY

The left camp's usual hopping on hot coals spectacle commences when a BTer slaps them hard. The lefty blogger in question gave some explanation as to how the LaRouche movement was actually a Right wing movement, blah, blah, blah. I almost fell asleep. Then I go into the comments section and come wide awake because the author of the article I had linked to yesterday, Jeff Schrieber, spelled it out to the lefty blogger's camp thus: "JEFF SCHREIBER said... From WikiPedia: Lyndon Hermyle LaRouche, Jr. (born September 8, 1922) is an American self-styled economist,[1] political activist, and the founder of several political organizations, known collectively as the LaRouche movement. He has been a perennial candidate for President of the United States, having run in eight elections since 1976, once as a U.S. Labor Party candidate and seven times as a candidate for the Democratic Party nomination. LaRouche is a Democrat. His people were protesting Bush and Cheney in the very same manner. Hitler 'staches and all. They're nuts, indeed, but they're a fixture of YOUR side of the aisle. The reason they're so upset about Obamacare is because they WANT a single-payer system like the one currently floundering in your country. But don't let a little thing like "fact" get in your way. Please. Furthermore, if you think the left is somehow incapable of Hitler and Nazi comparisons, look at the collection of protest photos here: http://www.zombietime.com/zomblog/?p=621 You Canucks need to take your collective, collectivist heads out of each other's rear ends. No wonder you admire Barney Frank. Regards, The author of Dodo's link. unquote No matter how many times this lefty blogger is proven to be an over-inflated hot air balloon liable to burst at any moment, he never ever learns to stop to think before putting his stubby fingertips to the keyboard and spewing out nonsense. You can expect him now to rave and rant at Jeff Schreiber or he might just delete the comment, and I am willing to bet, out will come his imaginery army of followers, all his split personalities raving and ranting away at Jeff. Yes, it is Canadian Cynic I am talking about.

I hope the beer-drinking Malaysian model gets the hiding of her life

What a complete empty-headed bimbo From AFP via Yahoo Kartika Sari Dewi Shukarno, 32, was also fined 5,000 ringgit (1,400 dollars) last month after she pleaded guilty to drinking alcohol at a hotel nightclub in the eastern state of Pahang last year. She will be the first woman in the multicultural country to be caned under Islamic law, with the punishment set to be meted out in a female prison. But the Malaysian mother of two, who lives in neighbouring Singapore, said Thursday that she wanted to be caned publicly. "It will be a more effective way to educate Muslims not to drink if I am caned in public. I want to send this message to other Muslims and I am sincere," Kartika told AFP stupid model from Malaysia

Sarah Palin holds a whip and she knows how to use it. Go Sarah Go

The Left would like us to forget that Palin majored in Journalism from the Idaho University. I have seen comments where lefties are ridiculing her by proclaiming that her facebook notes are not written by her as she is unable to string two sentences together without making major mistakes. The Left is running scared and the cause of their fear and concern is Palin. From Palin's facebook written a few hours ago: YOUR TAX DOLLARS HARD AT WORK: FIRST CARS, NOW FOREIGN OIL. Today's Wall Street Journal contains some puzzling news for all Americans who are impacted by high energy prices and who share the goal of moving us toward energy independence. For years, states rich with an abundance of oil and natural gas have been begging Washington, DC politicians for the right to develop their own natural resources on federal lands and off shore. Such development would mean good paying jobs here in the United States (with health benefits) and the resulting royalties and taxes would provide money for federal coffers that would potentially off-set the need for higher income taxes, reduce the federal debt and deficits, or even help fund a trillion dollar health care plan if one were so inclined to support such a plan. So why is it that during these tough times, when we have great needs at home, the Obama White House is prepared to send more than two billion of your hard-earned tax dollars to Brazil so that the nation's state-owned oil company, Petrobras, can drill off shore and create jobs developing its own resources? That's all Americans want; but such rational energy development has been continually thwarted by rabid environmentalists, faceless bureaucrats and a seemingly endless parade of lawsuits aimed at shutting down new energy projects read all about it

This must be the most corrupt administration ever to walk the corridors of the White House. Here's more proof that Obama is where he is because of Soros. Money can buy you anything, even the President of the USA. Soros owns the man. Obama to lend billions for offshore drilling in Brazil

HaHaHa - Barney Frank screams at his own lefty nutjobs - HAHAHAHAHA

He says "...trying to have a conversation with you would be like trying to argue with a dining room table" without realizing that the woman he is being nasty to, is a LEFTY. How priceless is that !!! I got to admit, that's exactly how I feel when I argue with my lefty friends. Way to go Frank!!! Now I can say the exact same thing to the nutjobs in my life and additionally tell them where the quote came from. Barney Frank unknowingly shoots down a loony lefty more at small dead animals And now for a cartoon:

A Canadian on an American reality show on the run heading back home

When in trouble, Canada is the place to be. All other times, the grass is greener on the other side. ABC News reports that: On television, Ryan Alexander Jenkins was a reality-show contestant vying for the heart of a pretty blonde. In real life, he's being sought by police in connection with the death of his wife, a former swimsuit model who was found stuffed into a suitcase days after he reported her missing. Police say Jasmine Fiore, 28, had been strangled and left in a suitcase that was found Saturday morning in Buena Park, Calif. Jenkins, a finalist on the pre-taped VH1reality competition "Megan Wants a Millionaire," has not been seen by authorities since. Police have named Jenkins, 32, as a "person of interest" and say he may be headed to his native Canada. ABC's Los Angeles affiliate KABC reported today that authorities put out an alert asking people to keep an eye out for either his black BMW X5 with Canadian plates HLY275 or Fiore's missing car -- a white 2007 Mercedes. Russian ship, lost then found. Pure gold for espionage novels

Reuters via Yahoo ....The limited information from Russian authorities has failed to satisfy skeptics who voiced doubts about whether the piracy actually took place or was a convenient cover story to conceal a possible secret cargo of arms or nuclear material. ....The agencies did not say what ransom was demanded. Nobody answered the phone when Reuters called the ministry's press service to attempt to verify the reports. The Maltese-registered, Russian-crewed vessel and its $1.3 million cargo of timber disappeared from radar screens three weeks ago, prompting speculation ranging from an attack by an organized crime gang to a top-secret spy mission. The Malta Maritime Authority said on Tuesday, without elaborating, that the Arctic Sea had "never really disappeared," a comment which increased speculation that security services might have been involved in the affair. There was no comment on the eight detainees, which Russia had said were citizens of Estonia, Latvia and Russia who on July 24 boarded the ship, forced the crew to change route and turned off its navigation equipment Russian games maybe .

Which part of the world has a 24% hike in their daily wage? Wrong, wrong and wrong again.

h/t The Israel Project I bet you said Brazil or India or Singapore or South Korea or maybe even Israel. The correct answer is West Bank. If you are a Palestinian in the West Bank you have made it. If you are a Palestinian in Gaza, you are still hating Jews, chopping off heads, raging around like banshees, patrolling beaches to arrest couples holding hands, killing each other and depending on hand-outs and support from the Leftish parties of USA, UK, Canada and Europe and of course support and hand-outs from all the freaking Unions of the world. Michael Oren is Israel's ambassador to the United States and has this to say in the WSJ quote: Imagine an annual economic growth rate of 7%, declining unemployment, a thriving tourism industry, and a 24% hike in the average daily wage. Where in today's gloomy global market could one find such gleaming forecasts? Singapore? Brazil? Guess again. The West Bank. According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the West Bank economy is flourishing. Devastated by the violence and corruption fomented by its former leadership, the West Bank has rebounded and today represents a most promising success story. Among the improvements of the last year cited by the IMF and other financial observers are an 18% increase in the local stock exchange, a 94% growth of tourism to Bethlehem—generating 6,000 new jobs—and an 82% rise in trade with Israel. Since 2008, more than 2,000 new companies have been registered with the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank. Where heavy fighting once raged, there are now state-of-the-art shopping malls. Much of this revival is due to Palestinian initiative and to the responsible fiscal policies of West Bank leaders—such as Prime Minister Salaam Fayyad—many of whom are American-educated. But few of these improvements could have happened without a vastly improved security environment. More than 2,100 members of the Palestinian security forces, graduates of an innovative program led by U.S. Gen. Keith Dayton, are patrolling seven major West Bank cities. Another 500-man battalion will soon be deployed. Encouraged by the restoration of law and order, the local population is streaming to the new malls and movie theaters. Shipments of designer furniture are arriving from China and Indonesia, and car imports are up more than 40% since 2008. unquote read further the success story of the West Bank
