Office of Religious Freedom, Canada .... not to be confused with Ministry for Propagation of Virtue, Saudi Arabia

Did we need an office to officially condemn persecution of Christians??  Do we need to sugarcoat the persecution of Christians in Muslim and pagan lands and make it look like it's not just the Christians who are persecuted and killed by Muslims, but people of other faiths too?

Political correctness from the Conservatives is vomit-inducing.  Time will tell if this additional department attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is instrumental in  doing any good in the countries that carry out hourly acts of atrocities against Christians because their murderous cult religion requires them to do so.

As far as I am concerned,  I can already see this as an additional burden on taxpayers.  Nothing less.

On February 19, 2013, the Government of Canada officially opened  its Office of Religious Freedom, within Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada. A Canada-based ambassador and a team of officials will carry out the office’s mandate, which is to:
protect, and advocate on behalf of, religious minorities under threat;
oppose religious hatred and intolerance; and
promote Canadian values of pluralism and tolerance abroad.
In Canada’s view, freedom of religion or belief, including the ability to worship in peace and security, is a universal human right. Through the Office of Religious Freedom, Canada will continue to work with like-minded partners to speak out against egregious violations of freedom of religion, denounce violence against human-rights defenders and condemn attacks on worshippers and places of worship around the world.

Matthew Coutts writing at DailyBrew via Yahoo:
...The office will operateas part of the foreign affairs ministry and focus of international matters of religious tolerance.
“Around the world, violations of religious freedom are widespread and they are increasing,” Harper said. "Dr Bennett is a man of principle and deep convictions and he will encourage the protection of religious minorities around the world so all can practice their faith without fear of violence and repression."........

  1. I was waiting for you to comment on that farce. I agree with you completely. It is just a total waste of money and will accomplish nothing except give some civil servants do-nothing jobs. It is the sort of drudge I would expect from the Liberal. I am getting more and more discouraged with the Cons. They are nothing but conviving politicians, just as corrupt and self serving as the Liberals. And while I am on my rant, the F35 fighter program pisses me off. Another huge expense for nothing really worthwhile.

    1. Dear Canuckguy ... I am totally with you. What is so very laughable is the point in the mandate of this new dept that says:

"promote Canadian values of pluralism and tolerance abroad."

Neither the Harper Cons nor the Liberal buffoons before them have been able to promote "Canadian values" in more than 10% of the generations of immigrants from the Muslim countries, and even from Indian Hindus and Sikhs that they have been importing. Instead of trying to put things right in Canada itself before anything else, these idiots think they have become so high and mighty and so very wise that they can now start molding people abroad too.

The Harper Cons have become too big for their shoes. That's a sure sign that tripping and breaking their noses is in the offing.

  2. OK I can see your point that this is an expensive and fruitless enterprise. Lets give the new department a year to see the direction it takes.

    1. Dear simon .... you are a good Conservative. No matter what Harper and his cons do, you always find an excuse for them. Give them a year you say? Heck, let's give them 3 years and at the end of that time if you see more than a drop of unsalted water that made its way into the sea of Muslim insanity, don't forget to slap me with that story.

Here are the reasons that I think this will be a study in pure lunacy from people who don't see beyond the few years that they know they will hold public office(they don't care what happens to the country beyond that):

      1) Shiites are being persecuted in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Oman, Pakistan and many are blown to smithereens in Pakistan which trend might extend to even the other countries named. Will Canada intervene (as I suspect the whole idea of the new dept is to "officially" intervene abroad) on behalf of these Shiites and give them refugee status in Canada or is the new dept. ONLY for giving refugee status to Christians, Ba hai and Zorastrians?

      2) Is Canada going to be fair and square in refugee quotas between Shiites, Christians and the other two named above? Ultimately, the intervening will mean that Canada will offer safe haven for the persecuted ... will the safe haven be in equal number for everybody or just Christians?

      3) If one is prepared to be totally fair as our good Harper wants to portray himself and his Cons, do we really want more Muslims, be they Sunni or Shiites in Canada ?

      4) Why is Canada giving false hope to the distressed people in Muslim lands? There are probably close to 50 million of such people in the Middle East and Africa who are victims of Sunni Muslim persecution towards them. Justice to just a few would mean injustice to the rest.

What a tangled web of lies and deceit the Canadian Conservatives weave when they start boasting they have become wise beyond reach.

  3. @Simon: Give them a year? No no, why waste money. Some ideas are so obviously patently stupid, that they don't need a test run. I wonder who the genius is that came up with this dumbass idea.
