The "war culture" that the average American is so proud of .... it's like a drug for them

Americans have got so addicted to waging wars, they just don't realize that their aggressiveness has now become like a habit-forming drug that they simply cannot do without.

According to some news items, the US soldier just released in exchange for five jihadis is now so traumatzed he is unable to speak in English. From yet other news items, there are questions of whether he was AWOL when captured.  He is the only son of the Bergdahls. This is what war does, dear people.  And, yet we feel proud of our children going off to fight the "enemy."  What "enemy"?  The "enemies" during WW2 are now our friends and the "enemies" in the Afghan war will also become our friends .... in the near future.  How meaningless it all is when you reflect on this a little below the surface.

From NYDailyNews:
.....The reassuring words of his fellow troops brought the only American soldier held captive in Afghanistan to tears.
Moments after Taliban fighters released Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl to U.S. special forces in exchange for the release of five “high risk” Guantanamo Bay detainees, the prisoner of war couldn’t believe he was free after nearly five years.
Aboard a helicopter, Bergdahl, 28, wrote on a paper plate “SF?” asking if his rescuers were special forces, a senior Defense Department official said.
The soldiers shouted over the roar of helicopter blades: “Yes, we’ve been looking for you for a long time.”
Bergdahl broke down. The soldier from Hailey, Idaho, was finally going home.
The emotional exchange capped a saga that is still shrouded in mystery, and it came amid Republican politicians’ anger over the release of some of the worst terrorists at Gitmo.
Bergdahl — who had grown disillusioned with the mission in Afghanistan — was captured under unclear circumstances after reportedly telling his parents he was “ashamed to be an American.”.......
