  1. gawd no. As a member of the CPC, CSSA, NRA, and highly partisan anti-democratic individual, I feel that this woman will end the republican party as we know it if she runs for president. Her selection will guaranteed Obama a second term, and lead to a third party emerging, where rational conservatives will end up, eventually replacing the old GOP.

  2. MIkhael - HAH, you are wrong. Her support base is growing and will keep growing. Obama's is dwidling or haven't you noticed that clear as daylight fact?

  3. Oaf-Bama and his presidency emits the stench of being a really bad and concocted reality television show. It’s a big “Made in Hollywood” production. The teleprompter, the media confederates, the vicious attacks on Sarah Palin and others, the clueless ness of what they’re doing. It just goes on and on.

Its true name is the “Lights Camera Action Presidency”.

  4. I know Obama is a disaster. I know that probably up to 30-40% of Americans who are in the Republican camp might vote Palin. But that won't win an election.

Elections in the US, and here for that matter, are decided by the mainstream middle of calm sensible non-partisan people who will never be able to imagine someone like Palin as president. It would make a complete mockery of the United States, both within and without.

What is needed for the republicans is a fiscally conservative libertarian leaning governor or senator or even house member of sufficient seniority and experience. Sadly, I don't believe there are many such candidates in the Republican camp, and it seems like even if there were such people, the anti-science, religiously driven core of the Republican party will chase such an individual out.

Hence the need for a third party, which would guarantee Obama a second victory with about 40% of the vote. But Palin as president? What can people be thinking? The only reason for her consideration as a candidate is a complete absence of other viable candidates so far.

My hope is that in the coming congressional elections the dems lose the house majority, so the most damaging Obamachinations can be stopped, and this buys the republicans enough time to come to their senses.

  5. MIkhael - reluctantly I will agree with you somewhat, however, you are forgetting one very important and crucial factor. American mentality has become one big Hollywood think-tank. Americans love to love a "good looking person". Look at the adoration heaped on Hollywood personalities who are intellectual nobodies in real life. Politics in the USA has entered the Hollywood arena, you know it, I know it and everyone knows it. And, because of all these reasons, the Americans will carry Palin into the WH on its wave of adoration. All Palin needs is the kind of PR that Obama employed to get him in. From what we have been seeing after her resignation, she is working on it. Wait and see. 99% of the time intelligence and smarts gets you nowhere in this world. Look around you and tell me I am wrong.

  6. Maria, I think that the ugly nature of politics has chased out the truly smart / intelligent people. Only narcicists like Obama are left.

In real life, the intelligent/smart do well if they are not lazy due to having an easy ride from their inborn gifts. But why would such a person subject themselves to the personal destruction of modern politics?

I agree the US is full of (stupid) people who will choose a leader based on looks/hype, without examining the record or any knowledge of history. Canada is no better. But at least for now I don't think there are enough such people to elect Palin, and that's a relief. Obama won because of partisan politics and timing. Seriously, worst recession in living memory (supposedly), an unpopular war, and universal contempt for all politicians. No republican could have won, and it is surprising that a democrat won by so little.
