Who will cry for the Christians of Indonesia ?

The violence against Christians in Indonesia is escalating at a break-neck speed. Canadians get their knickers and thongs in a twist blaming the Harper Govt. for not rushing into a phone booth, donning on the superman outfit and speeding faster than a bullet, to bring home a few Canadians stranded or jailed in places where, most of them, should not have been in the first place, but when it comes to 1000s of Christians slaughtered in places like Indonesia, Pakistan, Thailand and other countries where Christians are in the minority, everybody plays dumb. There's no value in advocating on behalf of Christians in Muslim countries, no political value at all. So why give a damn. It is indeed a sad, sad world, when we play politics from dawn to dusk and even in our sleep. I would like to know if the Canadian political parties are going to get together and send out a strong message to the Indonesian Govt to take firm steps to stop this ongoing massacre in a country that is 95% Muslim. I have not seen anything in the media that anyone in our Government has taken such a step as yet. According to data gathered by Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance, Religious Tolerance.org: 1999-NOV-26: Ambon:Church lawyers representing Catholics and Protestants in Ambon have asked the United Nations and the United States to intervene to stop escalating violence in the Indonesian province. Christian commercial districts and residential areas have been targeted in recent months and up to 700 Christians killed. 1999-DEC-2: Ambon: According to Newsroom: More than 30 people have been killed in further rioting in the troubled Indonesian province of Ambon. According to witnesses, many died at the hands of Indonesian troops who are taking part in the rioting... About 20 of the dead were Christians and 10 were Muslims. 1999-DEC-3 Indonesia army & Muslims vs. Christians: According to the Maranatha Christian Journal for DEC-5: "The Rev. John Barr, secretary of Indonesia and East Timor for the Uniting Church of Australia, reports that although Indonesia is no longer prominent in the headlines of the American media, Christians in Indonesia and East Timor still face violence and widespread desolation." ......30 people killed and 2,000 Christians driven out of Halmahera Island. Their churches and homes were destroyed..Maltreatment and fear in Indonesian concentration camps. 2000-JAN-11: Malukus Islands: According to ReligionToday .....Some 1,500 Christians and Muslims have been killed in the past two weeks, news reports said. ...'I reject jihad if it means to collect thousands of people to gather around and cry out expressions of hate to take revenge,' Muslim cleric Umar Shihab said. And similar stories that go on and on and on, only difference is that each passing month these atrocities are escalating as the fundamentalists are becoming more empowered and less fettered. Want to take a glimpse at what Christians have to undergo as a minority community in a Muslim land?Go here and here and here. I am not able to read all the gory stories of Christians being beheaded and Christians being shot while on their way to Church services that are coming out of Indonesia, as they are just too depressing.
