Our Canadian Treasures - The Boreal Forest
The Boreal forest region makes up 77% of Canada's forested land and is actually approx. 35% of our total Canadian land area.It is described as "draped like a green scarf across the shoulders of North America" and stretches from the Yukon and sweeps to the southeast to Newfoundland and Labrador in a wide band. The wide band comprises of 9 forest regions and differentiates from each other based on terrain, soil, climate, etc.
The Forest is home to thousands of wildlife species and is one of the largest intact forest and wetland ecosystems on earth.
It has countless lakes and rivers with an abundance of fish. It is a nesting ground for billions of songbirds and waterfowl, large carnivores like bears, wolves and lynx along with thousands of other species of plants, insects and mammals. First Nation communities are the main dependents on the abundance that is provided by the Boreal Forest.
Kate Rah who made this video says: "Video I made for School. It is just a Music Video, so enjoy without thinking. It is intended to support the Boreal Forest conservation."
