The Grand Jihad - How Islam and the Left sabotage America by Andrew McCarthy ..... Part 4

Passages from the chapter: Islamism (highlighted emphasis by moi).

Also, note that the guy in the vid below states that the UK's percentage of moslem population is 5% and that estimate, I believe to have been in  2009 (I am going by the date the vid was posted at YouTube)  So, McCarthy's estimate is off by 2% on the lower side.  So, if McCarthy's estimates of the moslem population doubling by 2015 proves right, then the UK's moslem population  will be close to, or over  12% ... that spells  BIG TROUBLE.

Despite our best efforts, this stubborn reality abounds in life's mundane details as much as in weighty matters of national security. A baby boy born in London today is more apt to be called Mohammed than Jack, Thomas, or Daniel. The prophet's name is the most popular for baby boys born in the British capital , and fares no worse than a close second if the whole of England is counted. It's difficult to say for sure because the British Office of National Statistics intentionally obscures its record-keeping, separately counting, as if they were different names, the fourteen transliterated spelling variants of "Mohammed" - a practice also followed by other European governments fearful of alarming their shrinking non-Muslim majorities.

Britian's swelling Islamic community now stands at roughly two million, or 3 percent of total population, though it is difficult to get an accurate fix on that too, illegal immigration being rampant in the UK The number of muslims will double by 2015 because the Muslim birthrate is at least three times higher than that of non-Muslims. Indeed, so meteoric is Islamic growth that is is driving an English population explosion: The number of Britons may eclipse the 77 million mark in the next half-century, a one-third increase that would vault it ahead of Germany, notwithstanding that, today, Germans outnumber Brits by over 20 million. The surging and, for now, insular Islamic community does not give its children recognizably British names (which is to say, Christian names). Nor is it adopting the Western culture whose torch Old Blighty was once proud to carry but now douses in contempt. Islam is not adapting to England. Islam is transforming England......

...We are led to believe that the only real "radicals" are the terrorists. Any other Muslim, no matter how supportive of terrorist goals, is deemed a "moderate" so long as he doesn't seem, right this minute, to be plotting the next Armageddon. This is sheer lunacy. Of islam's approximately 1.4 billion adherents worldwide, there are, to estimate very modestly, hundreds of thousands of Muslims in the United States, and tens of millions globally, who desire the adoption of policies sensible people would find quite radical. The moderate masquerade enables them to make common cause with the radical Left in one big, "progessive" campaign for "social justice."......

...A fashionable alternative to the term "radical Islam" is "extremism." Gaggles of policy-makers and pundits prefer this moniker because it omits any mention of Islam whatsoever. In their telling, the "international community" (not just the West) is locked in a "struggle" (not a "war") against "violent extremism" - not mere "extremism," lest anyone doubt that we're fine with any insane belief system anyone comes up with so long as things are not going boom....

...Our challenge here is two-fold. First, we must come to grips, at last, with the nature of the threat. Second, on the much overrated "war of ideas" front, we must formulate arguments that will be persuasive to hundreds of millions of Muslims - the one-third, or hopefully more, of the Muslim world that could potentially ally with us on counterterrorism, tolerance, and undividual liberty. The first task is essential. The second depends on the first, and we must be open to the possibility that it may be impossible. ....

...And when the term "Islamist" first came into vogue, it denoted a scholar of Islamic doctrine, not a subset of Islamic believers. Indeed, as Bostom recounts, many Muslims (most prominently, those I would call Islamists) are offended by designations such as "Islamist" and "moderate Muslim" that suggest Islam is infinitely malleable. "These descriptons are very ugly," decried Turkey's Islamist Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in 2007. "It is offensive and an insult to our religion. There is no moderate or immoderate Islam. Islam is Islam and that's it."
