You have until midnight tomorrow ....

to take advantage of the Home Renovation Tax Credit. This was one of the several great ideas from the Harper govt. Works like a charm and I hope it will continue. Great for business and great for homeowners. You  wonder why the USA did not think of something so effective and yet so simple? It's because they have nuts in the WH. Three cheers for the Harper govt and for Canada's slow but steady recovery from the doldrums.

HRTC expires midnight Jan 31 How does it work? The HRTC is a 15% non-refundable tax credit for "eligible" renovation expenditures made to your home or vacation property. The credit applies to any amounts spent over $1,000, up to a maximum of $10,000, producing a maximum credit of $1,350....

  1. I LOVE this initiative! We did a major one prior to the Feb 2009 start date so missed out on a huge chunk but decided to marathon on another one to complete some desired changes.
In fact, in one of them, our quotes were contingent on the work being completed by Jan 31.
A big player lost our business because they would not push THEIR envelope to get the work done for us.
We gave our business to a smaller, struggling small business and we have never seen such outstanding workmanship. Win, win!
