This is the way to win hearts and minds of people who think that activists, especially PETA, are becoming violent and unstable. A Lib.MP has said what I would have expected to come from Conservative MPs. Why the silence guys? Did you all have a laugh at Ms.Shea's pieing ? Or is the MSM only telling us about a Lib MP and refraining to tell us what Conservative MPs are saying about the reaction to this shameful incident?
Anyway, Thank you Mr.Byrne for your very sensible approach to this incident.
A Liberal MP says he believes the federal government should investigate whether the pieing of Fisheries Minister Gail Shea by a woman opposed to the seal hunt constitutes an act of terrorism.
Shea was delivering a speech Monday at the Canada Centre for Inland Waters in Burlington, Ont., when a woman stood up and pushed a tofu cream pie squarely into the minister's face.
The animal-rights group PETA later took responsibility for the incident. It said in a release that it was part of its campaign "to stop the government's ill-advised sanction of the slaughter of seals."
MP Gerry Byrne says he thinks what happened should be reviewed under the legal definition of terrorism. ....

Let us first rid the country of REAL TERRORISTS, then we can focus on the nut jobs such as PETA,Greenpeace,etc..........
ReplyDeleteThere's an offence involved in hurling pies, and I believe it's common assault. Terrorism involves terrorizing with an agenda, and a pie in the face is just an insult.
ReplyDeleteTo put things in perspective, if Osama bin Laden started pieing infidels the world would be a little safer.
I agree that the Lib MP is going overboard with the "terrorist" remark... however, he has at least come out and shown his support for Shea by criticizing PETA.
ReplyDeleteThis was a good opportunity for the Canadian govt to show that PETA is not welcome on our shores and if the Libs have grabbed it, more power to them.
Do you think he'd make a good floor crosser?
ReplyDeleteGerry Byrne is one of the few Liberal MPs who has some class.
ReplyDeleteSo when the animal rights groups are trying to put their vessel between the seal and the hunters,
ReplyDeleteand risk lives doing it,
what is that called?
I bet those in the seal industry feel terrorized. Some freak in their face every move they make.
Criminal Harassment: Stalking
Criminal harassment, more commonly known as STALKING, is a crime. Generally it consists of repeated conduct that is carried out over a period of time and which causes you to reasonably fear for your safety or the safety of someone known to you. Stalking does not have to result in physical injury in order to make it a crime. The law protects you even if the conduct of the stalker is not done with the intent to scare you. It is enough if the conduct does scare you. This may be an advance warning of the possibility of future violent act...
