What is a "diamond pattern" ?

Ever wondered why certain articles attract all those lefty trolls to your blog? Ever wondered, when reading some articles at a news site or conservative blog and there are various commentors more or less with the same opinion, and invariably that opinion is the opposite of yours? And what about commentors that say "I used to vote conservative but I no longer believe in them" or words to that effect. Wonder no more. Some astute bloggers who have been following the commentry of trolls have arrived at an accurate analysis after comparing notes with each other. There is lots to read and digest in the two links. I have just started on the reading and it is truly fascinating. Now I understand why every time I post something about Sarah Palin, so many trolls come creeping and crawling to the comments section. In the StatesAndrew Breitbart says

A digital war has broken out, and the conservative movement is losing. Read the comment sections of right-leaning blogs, news sites and social forums, and the evidence is there in ugly abundance. Internet hooligans are spewing their talking points to thwart the dissent of the newly-out-of-power. We must not let that go unanswered. Moral relativism is alive and well in the land of Hope and Change and its Web-savvy youth brigade expresses its "idealism" in a most cynical fashion.
