Will Canada Be Complacent Regarding The Sale of Humans?

Quote:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Bill C-268 was introduced by Manitoba MP Joy Smith proposing 5 year mandatory minimum sentence for those trafficking children. With the strong probability of an election, this anti child-trafficking Private Members’ Bill faces elimination - this will not ensure that those who target our most vulnerable citizens are held to account for their heinous actions.

With the upcoming Olympics and the constant threat of an election at anytime, the quick passage of Bill C-268 is imperative. Canada remains one of the few developed countries without enhanced penalties for the buying and selling of children.

Bill C-268 will be debated at 3rd Reading next Tuesday, September 15th. Bill C-268 was originally scheduled for October 21, 2009. However, we greatly appreciate MP Ed Fast agreeing to exchange his hour of debate in order for Bill C-268 to be brought forward sooner than scheduled.

Canada is already seen as lax on our stance against this heinous crime and the number of human trafficking cases and investigations are continually increasing. Canadians need to be made aware of the power they hold. Please further our plea via your media medium.

  1. What....5 years? Any shyster lawyer worth his salt can get the case delayed long enough so, that with time served, vermin lke this will walk away unpunished. Twenty years minimum is more like it!

  2. I fully agree - and even that laughable 5 years minimum is being questioned by Bloc Q. Unbelievable!!! Makes you wonder if some big shots in Quebec have some stake in human trafficking of children.
