Two beautiful girls, Maryam Rostampour and Marzieh Amirizadeh Esmaeilabad, members of the Christian community in Iran, were arrested on 5 March 2009 by the Iranian security forces. Their crime: Attending religious gatherings and handing out Bibles. Amnesty International's efforts and the efforts of other NGOs have failed to secure their release and these beautiful girls are reported to be suffering from infections and severe back problems due to their confinement with close to 50 other inmates in close quarters. Numerous Christian outfits have tried to get the Iranian authorities to allow medical assistance, but to no avail.
According to an article in Washington Times a month ago
What natural beauty Maryam Rostampour, 27, and Marzieh Amirizadeh Esmaeilabad, 30, had at the beginning of the year has certainly disappeared after a six-month stint in one of the world's worst jails. Marzieh especially suffers from back problems, an infected tooth and blinding headaches.
The article in the Washington Times dated Sep 10 was the last bit of news the West had on these girls. Any Iranian bloggers with more updated news, please send link in comments so we can keep this issue alive.
Religious minorities like the Christians and the people of the Baha'i faith are getting the short end of the stick in Iran.

This is terrible. All Christians out there need to pray for these two women.
