....I'll miss the dichotomy of seeing the Arghandab River, with green banks cutting through the brown desert, with curious children stopping to watch the convoys pass them by. I'll miss the strange feeling of knowing that it hasn't rained in four months, but the fields outside the village of Belenday, in Dand District, remain eerily green. I'll miss the mud-brick villages and ruins that dot the highways and back roads, the wadis and even the camels that freely graze outside the wire opposite the runway at KAF.......
