Mike Huckabee would like to take a jackhammer to the UN building in New York

Former Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-Ark.), speaking to a very friendly dinner crowd at the “How To Take Back America” conference, said that he’d “nearly had an Elvis moment” watching this week’s United Nations general assembly sessions and spoke about pulling out of the world organization altogether.

“It’s time to get a jackhammer and to simply chip off that part of New York City,” said Huckabee, “and let it float into the East River, never to be seen again!” That remark got him a standing ovation, and Huckabee went on to suggest de-funding the U.N. entirely.

“It’s time to say enough of the American taxpayer’s dollar being spent on something that may have been a noble idea, but has become a disgrace!” said Huckabee. “It has become the international equivalent of ACORN and it’s time to say enough!”

  1. Huckabee has a point. The only downside is the useful intelligence that the Americans gleam from this corrupt international body. If the UN were to physically leave, the US would be unable to wiretap and follow the "bad guys" around. Cheers.

  2. And the Cdn press/Libs continue to say that the PM should have wasted his precious time at the UN listening to nada and missing the non-global warming err climate change meetings??? The train towards a Copenhagen deferral of everything substantive on US inflationary cap 'n inflate schemes (and Cdn ones) has already left the station and is parked in an obscure sub-station under a bus.

Huckabee is starting the run for 2012, after the 2010 vote results in a re-make of the Senate into a semi-functioning body again. The big O knows that anything really radical err progressive, like health care and reducing military involvement overseas, has to get done before summer 2010.

  3. L - yes, he has started his run for 2012 and he is a big hit with the hard-right male segment of the Republican party. If this guy is ever elected he will want to run the country by the Bible, word to word... that's how deep into religion he is.
