President Obama has now blackmailed the government of Israel into submitting its defense forces to the toxic oversight of the United Nations. Today U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon created, with Israel's approval, a UN investigation of last June's flotilla incident in which Turkish-backed extremists sought to shatter Israel's lawful naval blockade of Hamas-run Gaza.

Despite the fact that Israel has already launched an inquiry with international participants, the Obama administration insists that the Israel Defense Forces, and the Israeli legal and political establishment governing their actions, must be subject to UN supervision. U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice welcomed Ban's announcement.....

Upstate NY Indian Tribe goes after Bloomberg's scalp

An upstate Indian tribe is calling on Mayor Bloomberg to resign over "inflammatory and racially insensitive" remarks he made last week.

Short of quitting, the Seneca Indian Nation tribal council passed a resolution urging Bloomberg to issue a written apology.....

Rob Ford is the all-time favorite

Today, there was another mayoral debate. I tried to watch the whole thing but the sugary sweet stuff  oozing from candidates other than Councillor Rob Ford was simply too much to take.... especially as I am on a diet. The sweetness and love for all mankind including the Tamil refugees and the homeless hobos was overflowing from my TV screen and flooding the family room so I had to make a getaway and come bang at my laptop.  All four nitwits with the exception of Rob Ford want to welcome the Tamil refugees with open arms.  CP24, which is the pulse of the city,  were holding the debate and I am rather taken aback because they had stuffed the audience with more lefties than righties. I usually think of CP24 as being not "too lefty" but today they proved me wrong.... and I will tell you why.

In the audience there were so many individuals that behaved like they were all agreeing more with the other four candidates on the Tamil refugees issue.   CP24 did a good job finding  some hard-core lefties. Another issue about homelessness where I felt Ford gave the perfect response, the audience seemed divided 50/50.  Why would people be not fully in agreement if the homelessness issue is dealt with in one of these ways, as Ford plans to do when he becomes mayor of the city:
a) Check on each homeless person laying in the street and  get him/her in rehab if addicted to drugs/booze;
b) get him/her under mental health care is that is the problem

He is definitely not in agreement with the kumbayah crowd that thinks it is all OKAY to let the homeless person just lay in the streets.

If you were watching the debate and you saw the "more lefties than righties" that made up the audience, you would think that Ford had failed badly on the issue of Tamil migrants... right?   WRONG !!!

This may well follow an odd, post-crash agreement between the two countries, whereby Russia provides Poland with recordings of the black boxes and Poland controls the recordings' release (typical Russian-Polish agreement). But it also hoists a red flag over the entire investigative process. After all, "who" might have done "what" to a black box in a Russian recording studio?.....

Glenn mentions that Hezbollah alongwith drug cartels are igniting car bombs on the USA borders. Did I hear right or am I smoking something powerful ?  In the present loony world  I can no longer tell what's real and what's just my imagination. He also makes mention of the rally that's happening a couple of weeks from now at the Lincoln Memorial and says it will be a very important event. Hmm ... could it be that  Palin will make her announcement of running in the 2012 presidential race at the rally?

9) Taxpayers' money blatantly directed in Billions of dollars to the CBC whose BOD work overtime to find ways to say and do things that go against all Conservative-minded people of Canada;
10) Investigation of Judges and  an overhaul of the justice system is  never undertaken to determine which of the the judges are on the take or politically inclined in their judgements.

Karzai is what's wrong with Afghanistan ....

and why it is taking this long to bring full democracy to that country. The single biggest error that the USA and NATO has made is to keep Karzai in command. Afghanistan's largest gathering of clerics, who met to discuss reconciliation with the Taliban, has called for the revival of strict Islamic law as the country seeks ways to win militants away from a growing insurgency.

About 350 of the Islamic clerics, or ulema, met for three days this week, the meeting ending with a declaration calling on President Hamid Karzai to enact sharia, or Islamic law, including punishments such as stonings, lashing, amputation and execution.

"The lack of implementation of sharia hodud (punishment) has cast a negative impact on the peace process," said a 10-point resolution issued after the meeting.

"We the ulema and preachers of Afghanistan ... earnestly ask the government not to spare any efforts in the implementation of sharia hodud."........

We all know that they have the right to do it, but should they? And, no, this is not above your pay grade. If those who wish to build this Ground Zero mosque are sincerely interested in encouraging positive "cross-cultural engagement" and dialogue to show a moderate and tolerant face of Islam, then why haven't they recognized that the decision to build a mosque at this particular location is doing just the opposite? Mr. President, why aren't you encouraging the mosque developers to accept Governor Paterson's generous offer of assistance in finding a new location for the mosque on state land if they move it away from Ground Zero? Why haven't they jumped at this offer? Why are they apparently so set on building a mosque steps from what you have described, in agreement with me, as "hallowed ground"? I believe these are legitimatequestions to ask.

I visited Toronto in early March 2010 and as I left the country I passed through the usual security check at Pearson International Airport. What made it different is that the next passengers after me in line were a man, a small child, and a person in niqab. (I write "person" rather than "woman" as I hardly know who was under the niqab outfit.)

Curious how the niqabi's hidden identity would be handled, I looked back as the trio was dealing with the security agent. To my astonishment, the agent did not demand to see the niqabi's face but was content to see those of the man and child. I wanted dearly to video this procedure on my mobile phone but dared not, thinking that this could well get me hauled in on some charge that I, ironically, was breaching security......

I don't know why the Americans are whining so much.  They got two for the price of one.  Reminds me of times when my local grocery store sells "close to expiry date" stuff the same way.  When buying such goodies, one is always taking a chance and you should take care to consume the stuff right away otherwise the contents of the half priced items might not be edible later on and you might have to be rushed to the emergency ward of a hospital near you.

Ontario's Cancer Patients .... survival of the richest

I am not happy with the Canadian health services.  Sorry.  As an immigrant from a country far, far away and nowhere as modern and "with it" like Canada, I  had access to whatever I wanted and whenever I wanted it.  The same went for the poorest of the poor who were able to get "on the spot" appointments with the country's best doctors and surgeons either totally free  or pay 'whatever you can' at Govt run hospitals where the top doctors were obliged to put in certain hours on a voluntary basis.  In Canada,  foolishly,  I thought it would be the same or even better.  How wrong I was.   I seldom need to see a doctor, but the few times I have tried to get an appointment with one, the dates I have been given have been so far into the future that  they would  be just perfect  for  a funeral  or burial  of my body six feet underground.  When I voice my dissatisfaction with the Canadian system to my lefty friends, they say: "there's always the emergency ward of any hospital if you are not getting a "quick" date."   Yeah .... can't argue with that can you?  The lefties have all the answers to everything.  I have heard that if you are not  bleeding profusely or having a heart failure right in front of the reception, then you better take your bedding and your own little deck chair to sit on while you wait for someone to see you at the emergency wards in Toronto hospitals.

Despite Canada's universal healthcare system, poorer Canadians with cancer are more likely to die early than their wealthier peers, suggests a new study of almost 100,000 patients from Ontario.

But unlike studies conducted in the United States, most of the difference in survival rates could not be explained by how early doctors caught the cancer.

"It is reassuring that stage of cancer (at diagnosis) does not vary across social groups in Ontario," Dr. Christopher Booth of the Queen's University Cancer Research Institute, the study's lead author, told Reuters Health in an email. But, he continued, "we need to better understand why survival does vary across socioeconomic groups."

The authors identified patients diagnosed with six different types of cancer in Ontario between 2003 and 2007. They used records of patients' home addresses to group the patients based on income levels in their communities. Then, the researchers calculated how likely patients in each group were to die of cancer in the three years after they were diagnosed or to die from any cause in the five years after.

They also looked at how early the cancer was caught for about 40,000 of those patients......
