US strikes Khorasan Group targets in Syria
U.S. jets struck five targets of the al-Qaeda affiliated Khorasan Group for the second time since early September
The U.S. military struck five Khorasan Group targets near the northwestern Syrian town of Idlib overnight Wednesday.
"We are still assessing the outcome of the attack, but have initial indications that it resulted in the intended effects by striking terrorists and destroying or severely damaging several Khorasan Group vehicles and buildings assessed to be meeting and staging areas, IED-making facilities and training facilities," U.S. Central Command said in a statement.
The U.S. military alone conducted the strikes, the statement said. ....

From CTVnews:
Canadian forces launched their first airstrikes on ISIS targets in northern Iraq on Sunday, government officials have confirmed.

Two Canadian CF-18 fighter jets dropped 500-pound laser-guided bombs near the city of Fallujah during a mission that lasted approximately four hours.
In a statement, Defence Minister Rob Nicholson said the mission included air-to-air re-fueling from Canada’s Polaris aircraft. All aircraft returned safely to their base, the minister said, adding assessment of damage is ongoing.......

From 570News:
....Nicholson wouldn’t release details, but said more information would be forthcoming at an Ottawa briefing on Tuesday — 48 hours after the mission.
However, U.S. Central Command, based in Tampa, Fla., said four strikes hit a large ISIL unit in the vicinity where Canadian planes reportedly dropped their laser-guided bombs.
The attack apparently destroyed five ISIL bulldozers and one ISIL dump truck used to build obstructions and berms.
It is unclear whether Canadians carried out all of the strikes in the vicinity of Fallujah or if aircraft from other coalition nations were involved.....

From Reuters:
Georgian Prime Minister Irakly Garibashvili fired his defense minister on Tuesday hours after he criticized the arrests of several officials in his ministry as politically motivated and aimed at those who favor better relations with the West.

The move could trigger a crisis in the governing six-party Georgian Dream coalition, with sacked defense minister Irakly Alasania's Free Democrats party now mulling whether to leave the government and jeopardize its majority in parliament.
Alasania, one of the most pro-Western and most popular ministers, had earlier denounced the detention of one former and four serving ministry officials last week, as well as new charges filed against several army medical officers on Tuesday.
"I want to unambiguously state that this is obviously politically motivated," he told reporters.

"I want to clearly state that this is an attack on Georgia's Euro-Atlantic choice," he said, referring to Georgia's stated interest in joining NATO and its recent trade deal with the European Union......

Heavy fighting near seaport of Libyan city Benghazi, navy ship hit
A Libyan navy ship was hit and 13 people killed during heavy fighting with aircraft and tanks on Monday between the army and Islamist militants near the port of Benghazi, residents of the Mediterranean city said.
The battle was part of a wider conflict in the North African state where former rebels who helped oust dictator Muammar Gaddafi in 2011 are fighting for power and a share of Libya's large oil revenues.
Army special forces, backed by troops of an ex-general, launched an offensive in the Benghazi area two weeks ago against Islamist militants blamed by Washington for a 2012 assault on the former U.S. consulate which killed the American ambassador.
The Red Crescent evacuated 53 foreign workers and 14 sick people trapped inside a hospital next to the port, medics said, while the army moved more tanks and artillery into the city.
A Reuters reporter could see smoke rising from the port, an important conduit for food, wheat and fuel supplies to eastern Libya. A security source said the unidentified navy ship was sinking but this could not immediately be confirmed.
Warplanes could be heard firing into the port area.
Dozens of residents were leaving Benghazi, heeding a call by the army to evacuate the port area and main commercial district where military officials said Islamists were holed up.
At least 243 people have been killed, 13 of them on Monday, since the army started the offensive, medics said.........

Unidentified gunmen shot dead five people in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province late on Monday evening, the state news agency reported.

Nine people were wounded in the attack in al-Dalwah town in al-Ahsa district, a police spokesman was quoted as saying.
"As a group of citizens was leaving a building...three masked men opened fire at them with machine guns and pistols," the spokesman said, adding that the incident was under investigation.
It gave no further details. Al-Ahsa is one of the two main centers of minority Shi'ite Muslims in Sunni-ruled Saudi Arabia, along with the district of Qatif.....

Burkina Faso army told to hand over power
The African Union (AU) has given Burkina Faso's military a two-week deadline to hand power to a civilian ruler or face sanctions.
The AU said the army had acted unconstitutionally when it took over after President Blaise Compaore was forced to resign on Friday.
The military said a civilian-led transitional government would be established as quickly as possible.
Mr Compaore quit after mass protests at his bid to extend his 27-year rule.
On Saturday, the military named Lt Col Isaac Zida, previously second in command of the presidential guard, as the new interim ruler.......

The Egyptian military began demolishing homes in the Sinai peninsula bordering the Gaza Strip Thursday in an attempt to create a buffer zone that would stanch the flow of militants and weapons between countries.
Roughly 10,000 residents of the town of Rafah were given 48 hours to leave their homes in order for the Egyptian military to create the 8-mile long, nearly 550-yard deep buffer zone.

The New York Times reports that despite being surprised by the ultimatum, residents of Rafah quietly migrated away and collected compensation, and that the lack of active opposition to the move illustrates Egyptian support for the Cairo government's anti-insurgent campaign..........

Pentagon Downplays Mounting Losses in Iraq, Syria
Major losses on both the Iraqi and Syrian sides of the ISIS conflict emerged over the weekend, with ISIS routing a pro-Iraqi govt Sunni tribe and massacring hundreds of them, while Jabhat al-Nusra, al-Qaeda’s wing in Syria, forced a key US-allied moderate rebel faction to surrender.
The Pentagon is trying to downplay the problems, despite these both being clearly huge defeats for their strategy in the ever-escalating war, and is mostly falling back on semantic arguments to deflect concerns.

“If they join the Nusra Front, the Nusra Front is not a moderate organization. So therefore they are not moderate either,” insisted Pentagon spokesman Steve Warren of the defeated Syrian Revolutionary Front (SRF).
Yet the SRF didn’t willingly join Nusra. Rather they were completely clobbered by them and unconditionally surrendered, turning over all their US-made weapons and armor to Nusra.
The Pentagon may want to split hairs here, but the SRF was awash in US weaponry and was repeatedly touted by the administration as one of those “vetted, moderate” factions. The problem was that, like so many of the “vetted, moderate” factions, they couldn’t fight their way out of a paper bag, and were long reliant on Nusra to do the fighting for them. When the US war split them irrevocably from Nusra, it just meant they were going to get taken over, and the real loss is the US weapons......

Kenya: 5 suspected bombers killed
Kenyan and Somali soldiers killed five suspected Islamic extremist bombers attempting to cross into the country from Ethiopia in a car laden with explosives and six suicide vests, a Kenyan military spokesman said Sunday.
Bogita Ongeri said authorities recovered 100kg (220 pounds) of TNT from the vehicle which was intercepted at Dolo, along Kenya's border with Ethiopia on Saturday.

Ongeri said security forces had been tracking the car which has Kenyan registration and were aware that the suspected terrorists had unsuccessfully attempted to gain entry into Kenya at another border point. He said the five killed are suspected members of the Somali militant group al-Shabab, which is allied to al-Qaida. Al-Shabab has vowed to carry violent terrorism in Kenya because Kenyan troops are in Somalia fighting the militants. Kenya sent its troops into Somalia in Oct 2011 to fight al-Shabab after the Kenyan government blamed the extremist rebels for a series of cross-border attacks including the kidnapping of four western nationals.....

ISIS Has Massacred 322 People From Sunni Tribe; Leader Says Iraqi Gov't Abandoned Them
An Iraqi tribal leader revealed that at least 322 members of a single Sunni tribe have been killed at the hands of terror group ISIS in the western Anbar province. The tribe's senior leader has blamed the government for abandoning the people to the jihadists.
"The government abandoned us and gave us to ISIS on a platter," Sheikh Naeem Al Gaoud of the Albu Nimr tribe told BBC News on Sunday. "We asked them many times for weapons but they gave us only promises."

Gunmen storm Libya's El Sharara oilfield, shut down production
Gunmen seized Libya's major El Sharara oilfield, looting equipment and shooting as frightened workers sought shelter, oil sources said on Wednesday, in another blow to the country's oil industry which has been subjected to protests and militia blockades.
It was unclear exactly what happened at the field, which at maximum capacity produces about 340,000 barrels per day. It is Libya's biggest operational field, located in the remote south where rival tribes have clashed since Muammar Gaddafi was ousted three years ago.
The closure is a blow to government efforts to keep oil production isolated from the spreading chaos in the North African country, where two prime ministers, parliaments and army chiefs of staff compete for control.
The closure will lower the OPEC member's oil production, last reported at around 800,000 bpd, by at least 200,000 bpd........

A Shia man was shot  by Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) supporters as he was leaving an Islamic prayer center in southwest Sydney, according to eyewitnesses.
The 47-year-old victim, identified as an Iraqi Shia leader at the center, suffered superficial pellet wounds to the face and shoulders, and is currently awaiting surgery in a Sydney hospital.
A witness, who did not give his name, alleged that before the shooting, the attackers drove by hurling insults at Shias gathered near the center.
"They called us ‘Shia dogs’ and they threatened to come back down tonight and kill you, shoot you, whatever," the witness told ABC Radio.
Prior to the shooting, the attackers drove by several times shouting "IS lives forever," according to the witness. Others confirmed they heard a group of men yell: "ISIS is coming" and "ISIS will stay."...........

German Court Charges Three With Aiding Terror
Three alleged ISIS supporters faced German judges on terror charges for the first time Wednesday morning as their trial over a supply haul for the Syrian battlefield began. Two of them were arrested a year ago when German police stopped them at a highway rest area on their way to Syria. Their car was packed full with supplies. The third was arrested early this year for helping them.

Inside the vehicle investigators found medical supplies, two night-vision devices, binoculars, camouflage jackets and pants. The accused apparently had the upcoming winter in mind and packed 40 pairs of gloves, 13 wool hats, as well as extra socks and underwear.
Prosecutors said Wednesday that the main defendant, a Lebanese national who had grown up in Germany, had first traveled to Syria from August to November 2013 to fight the Assad regime. There he allegedly joined an ISIS-affiliated group, fought in an Aleppo suburb, and received money and instructions from his commander to buy the supplies on a visit to his German home..........

Suicide attack kills 45,  injures 70 on India-Pakistan border - police
A suicide bombing near the India-Pakistan border has killed at least 45 people, Pakistani police say. Women and children are amongst the dead following the blast, which took place near the Pakistani city of Lahore. The injury count is currently around 70.
"The death toll increased to 45," the provincial police chief in Lahore told Reuters.
Earlier a senior police official verified the claims that the blast at the Wagah crossing was a suicide attack. "According to initial information it was a suicide attack," Inspector General of Punjab Police, Mushtaq Sukhera, told local television channels. "When ... security was a bit relaxed, the suicide attacker blew himself up near a restaurant. Thirty-seven people were killed and more than 50 wounded," he added.
"I was sitting in my office near the border when I heard the blast. I rushed to the scene and saw scattered bodies, injured men, women and children and smashed cars," a Pakistani intelligence source told Reuters.
Speaking earlier, the Deputy Medical Superintendent of Ghurki Hospital, Dr Khurram, said, "We received 35 bodies including those of women and children and 60 to 70 were wounded,” as reported by local TV stations.............

.....With the disclosure of the existence    of Jabhat al-Nusra in Lebanon, questions arise about the identity of the "emir" of this republic. Sources answer such questions by saying, “There is no emir of Jabhat al-Nusra in Lebanon, as the front relies on the cluster cell method, whereby groups that do not know each other operate through a system that leads and dominates them. This seemed obvious in the Tripoli battles, which involved a tactical and professional withdrawal as well as logistical work and a major organizational capacity, all of which report to a central leader.”.......

This spring, the head of our village told us we were going to be part of Russia again, that everything would be taken care of. Polygamy in Canada coming to an end or will polygamists.....

find a way to get around the proposed new rules and will the Canadian government turn a blind eye to those maneuvers? We know for a certainty that the government has been knowingly allocating citizenship to Muslims who have migrated here on those "investment" schemes. Deposit that certain lumpsum for a certain number of years into the government's coffers and voila ... you and your numerous wives become instant citizens and who gives a damn what kind of a hellhole Canada falls into, eh?

Let's hope the Harper govt. does not back down and give in to the screams and whines from their pals in the Middle East. Canada should come first, not the cavemen Arabic countries.

Feds prep for backlash against new rules
The Harper government is bracing for international backlash to its proposed new law that would ban people in polygamous and forced marriages from immigrating to Canada, The Canadian Press has learned.

Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander announced the legislation Wednesday, calling such practices "incompatible with Canadian values."
The Conservative government promised in its 2013 throne speech to take steps on forced marriages and so-called honour killings.

If it becomes law, the bill would eliminate early and forced marriages from Canada's immigration system and the country as a whole, said Alexander. The measures would not include arranged marriages.
There are "at least hundreds" of cases of immigrants in polygamous marriages in Canada, the minister added.

The bill responds to cases in which Afghan men in Canada were accused of killing female relatives. Alexander said provisions in the bill will do away with the ability of perpetrators in such cases to use provocation or cultural differences as a mitigating factor.

But the "Zero Tolerance for Barbaric Cultural Practices Act" might not go over so well in some Arab and African countries, suggests an internal government briefing note, obtained by The Canadian Press.
The memorandum dated Oct. 27 and stamped "Secret," notes that polygamy remains legal in dozens of countries.

"This new admissibility provision related to polygamy, even with the availability of tools to mitigate impact, will certainly create bilateral irritants since polygamy is recognized under civil law in 50 countries (e.g. United Arab Emirates) and under customary law in 12 countries (e.g. South Africa)," said the document.
"This could also lead to reciprocity-related decisions by partner countries.".........

Kurdish children give accounts of ISIS/ISIL/IS/xyz treatment while in captivity

Below, a few paragraphs from a longer report.

From HRW:
Kurdish children from the Syrian city of Kobani (or Ain al-`Arab in Arabic) were tortured and abused while detained by Islamic State (also known as ISIS), Human Rights Watch said today. Four children gave detailed accounts of the suffering they endured while held for four months with about 100 other children.

The children, aged 14 to 16, were among 153 Kurdish boys whom ISIS abducted on May 29, 2014, as they traveled home to Kobani. According to Syrian Kurdish officials and media reports, ISIS released the last 25 of the children on October 29. Interviewed one by one in Turkey, where they had fled to safety after ISIS released them in late September, the four boys described enduring repeated beatings with a hose and electric cable, as well as being forced to watch videos of ISIS beheadings and attacks.....

.......ISIS initially stopped about 250 Kurdish students from Kobani as they traveled home after taking their middle school exams in Aleppo on May 29. ISIS released all the girls, around 100, within a few hours, but kept 153 boys at a school in Manbij, a town 55 kilometers southwest of Kobani.
About 50 of the boys escaped or were released between June and September, with about 15 of them apparently being exchanged for ISIS fighters held by the Kurdish armed group, the People’s Protection Units (YPG). In late September, ISIS released about 75 of the remaining boys, including those interviewed by Human Rights Watch. The four children did not know what prompted their release........

.......One child who muttered “Oh Mother!” when he was caught in another group’s room was strung up, suspended with his hands tied behind his back, one foot tied to his hands, and told he should call on God, not his mother......

.....All of the children described being forced to pray five times a day and undergoing intense religious instruction. The teachers also forced them to watch videos of ISIS in combat and beheading captives.
The children said the guards and religious teachers at the school were a combination of Syrian Arabs and people from Jordan, Libya, Tunisia, and Saudi Arabia. The Syrians gave the worst beatings, especially a man named Abu Shehid from near Aleppo, all of them said.........

.....The four boys said they got no explanation for their release beyond that they had finished their religious training. They were given 150 Syrian pounds (US$1), a DVD with religious material, and let go.....

Russia flexes more muscle with new missile testing

I am guessing that the blatant show of Russian-made war machines which we are seeing of late is to tell the Western powers not to interfere any further on the bear's territory, namely Ukraine.  Any further incursion or additional arming of Ukraine's mad Nazi forces to continue their bombing of the Novorussia areas, especially the civilian areas, will be severely dealt with.

Also, was there really a submarine in  Sweden's waters and was it a Russian sub that managed to slip out unaccosted by the full force employed to find it?  IMO, there was probably something there "testing" the detection powers of Sweden's military or the Swedes used an imaginary sighting to bolster their war chest..... just like the USA, Canada and UK are now doing by strategic reporting of sighting Russian jets invading their airspace.  Even if Russia denies their planes were nowhere near disputed airspaces, most of us have  been brainwashed nicely enough to discard anything Russia says as lies and nothing but lies.

The Republicans did great tonight but did Americans really come out the winners?

I think  not!  I am wholly with Dr Ron Paul's prediction.  He will be proven right. With warmongers like McCain and many others in the Republican Party who are twins of McCain,  the war machine will be oiled much more going forward.  America can't escape its sad and final destiny.

From TheBlaze:
Ron Paul Makes Dire Prediction  About Consequences of a Republican-Controlled Senate

The great empire of the USA started the downhill slide from the days of the Vietnam war and the present one in the Middle East will be the one burying it for good.  Empires don't disappear all of a sudden. Scotiabank Canada comes out with dismal report

When banks start having woes, that's the time to be very, very, very vigilant about the economy. This is not good for Canada. After Scotiabank, which other bank will come clean?  I was beginning to think we were immune, but this will bring many who think like me back to earth with a thud.  Just go take a peek  at our Oil and Metal companies today and be prepared to see a huge downward trend on your mutual funds account come year end.

Thank you dear PM Stephen Harper for the cheerleading you did for imposing sanctions on Russia after you and your sidekick went to Ukraine and performed monkey tricks for the protesters. Besides that, we know you and your government had a huge role to play in the collapse of the Ukrainian government and the subsequent ongoing destruction of that country.  The world economy has been going downhill since then. Thank You O great Economist Leader of Canada.

Scotiabank to cut 1,500 positions worldwide, take profit hit in fourth quarter
Scotiabank (TSX:BNS) plans to cut 1,500 jobs — about two-thirds of them in Canada — as it restructures its operations and closes 120 branches at its international banking arm.
The bank said Tuesday it will take a $341-million hit after taxes to its fourth-quarter earnings as a result of the changes, but expected to remain on track to meet its 2014 financial objectives.
No branch closures were announced in Canada, but the bank said some of the job cuts will be at its head office.
Scotiabank said it will also centralize and automate some branch functions and make changes to its wealth management business.
"We're comfortable with our footprint here in Canada, so I wouldn't anticipate any branch closings here," Porter told analysts in a conference call.
The situation is different internationally. Scotiabank plans to close about 10 per cent of its branches outside of Canada, including in Mexico and the Caribbean region......

Pentagon Downplays Mounting Losses in Iraq, Syria.

Ken Livingstone on warmongering politicians: "...they get their rewards for serving American interests"

I wonder if Stephen Harper will also become a millionaire many times over after he is no longer the PM of Canada just like Tony Blair who is now worth above $100 M according to some reports.

These politicians don't give a damn that your sons and daughters, your husbands and wives, your brothers and sisters and others near and dear to you are sent to wars which might kill them in the most horrific way possible, and that too, so far, far away from home. Wars make the corrupt politicians clamoring to side with America and America's wars, rich beyond their dreams.  Wars make money for the super rich .... we are the easily fooled sheeple who think wars need to be fought because our conniving politicians tell us it's all for that mighty "must have" democracy that the Muslims in the Middle East are crying out for.   If we are good of heart, we need to hear their cries and thus also help our manipulating politicians to line their pockets with even more wealth.

US-supplied sophisticated weaponry gifted to "moderate" jihadis' fall into "not so moderate" jihadi hands

What could go wrong now, eh?
When will the Rome of our times lay down and die quietly and at long last allow our planet to heave a sigh of relief?

Two of the main rebel groups receiving weapons from the United States to fight both the regime and jihadist groups in Syria have surrendered to al-Qaeda.
The US and its allies were relying on Harakat Hazm and the Syrian Revolutionary Front to become part of a ground force that would attack the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil).

The development came a day after Jabhat al-Nusra dealt a final blow to the SRF, storming and capturing Deir Sinbal, home town of the group's leader Jamal Marouf.

The attack caused the group, which had already lost its territory in Hama to al-Qaeda, to surrender.
"As a movement, the SRF is effectively finished," said Aymen al-Tammimi, a Syria analyst. "Nusra has driven them out of their strongholds of Idlib and Hama."

The collapse of the SRF and attacks on Harakat Hazm have dramatically weakened the presence of moderate rebel fighting groups in Syria, which, after almost four years of conflict is increasingly becoming a battle ground between the Syrian regime and jihadist organisations.
For the United States, the weapons they supplied falling into the hands of al-Qaeda is a realisation of a nightmare.
It was not immediately clear if American TOW missiles were among the stockpile surrendered to Jabhat al-Nusra on Saturday. However several Jabhat al-Nusra members on Twitter announced triumphantly that they were.
Also the loss of a group that had been held up to the international media as being exemplary of Western efforts in Syria is a humiliating blow at the time that the US is increasing its military involvement in the country, with both air strikes and training of local rebels.....

Dual-nationality holder Ghoncheh Ghavami gets one year prison term in Iran

According to her lawyer, she might see freedom before that depending on the good graces of the cavemen country of Iran. Iranians and Pakistanis are able to build nuclear plants but have shit for brains and don't give a damn that the world can see their ignorance for what it is.  If Ghavami had given up on the cavemen country she migrated from and embraced her new country by tearing up her Iranian passport and travelled only on her British passport as a full British citizen, I am sure the British foreign office might have been able to negotiate her
release a lot sooner.  I can imagine what the Iranian shits must have said when the British tried to get her out of that hellhole ... they must have gloated that as she is still a 50% Iranian citizen, they have every right to imprison her but being the good shits that they are they will give her a lesser sentence as a courtesy to their "friends" the British.

I have no respect for dual citizenship holders and neither do I have any sympathy when such people get into trouble in their old countries.

From MirrorUK:
A British woman    arrested in Iran after trying to watch a men's volleyball match has been sentenced to a year in prison, according to reports.

Ghoncheh Ghavami, 25, who is also Iranian, was arrested on June 20 outside Tehran's Azadi Stadium.

She and others were demanding that women be allowed in to watch a volleyball match between Iran and Italy, local media claims.
She was charged by a court in Tehran with activities and propaganda against the Islamic Republic.
The semi-official ILNA news agency quoted her lawyer, Alireza Tabatabaie, on Saturday as saying her sentence may be cut due to previous good behaviour.

Ghavami was released soon after her arrest in June but was re-arrested days later when she was called back to reclaim personal belongings that authorities had confiscated. In October, she went on a two-week hunger strike.......

......Ghavami's detention came shortly before the arrest in July of another dual-nationality citizen, Jason Rezaian, an Iranian-American reporter for the Washington Post, who is being held without charge........

So .... UK would need Germany's approval to get out of the EU?

Diplomatic lingo can tell a lot.  Guess it's true then what those in the know say about Merkel .... she's the boss of the EU alright.  Britain's fall into the abyss continues to continue.

From BBC:
Germany 'would accept UK exit from EU' to protect migration rules
Chancellor Angela Merkel would rather see the UK exit from the European Union than compromise over the principle of free movement of workers, according to the German magazine Der Spiegel.

Mrs Merkel is alleged to fear that the UK is approaching a "point of no return".

Downing Street would not comment on the reports.

Mr Cameron wants to renegotiate the terms of the UK's continued membership before holding an in-out referendum.

The prime minister said that freedom of movement would be "at the very heart of my renegotiation strategy for Europe", but Mrs Merkel is said by the magazine to have made clear she will withdraw her support for the UK's continued EU membership if he continues to push for migration reform.....

460000 sexual attacks in Canada on a yearly basis?

And, supposedly only 6 get prosecuted.  Forgive me for being the eternal sceptic .... but I don't believe this number.

In wake of the news about the CBC radio guy's (am I the only person who's never listened to him or even remember seeing him on any show ever and had never heard of him before now?) misogyny in the bedroom with the kind of women who are always ready to jump in bed with any celebrity or just about anyone for that matter .... our Canadian media has been going bonkers plastering rape stories here, there, everywhere. Below is an example.
Why not just arrest the guy on the testimony of the one woman who has started the ball rolling and then let a queue of women he's diddled and fiddled with come tell their stories.  I am sure there will be many fair damsels ready to wash their dirty laundry in public.

US bombs Isis positions in Syria and Iraq
Five targets hit near Syrian town of Kobani and five in Iraq

Isis executes hundreds of tribesmen in western Iraq
US fighter and bomber planes have launched five attacks against Islamic State militants near Kobani, Syria, and five in Iraq since Friday, Central Command said on Saturday.

The Kobani strikes “suppressed or destroyed” nine Islamic State fighting positions and a building. In Iraq, air strikes destroyed an Islamic State vehicle south-west of Mosul dam and hit four vehicles and four buildings used by militants near Al-Qaim, the US military said in a statement.
Air strikes have helped to foil several attempts by the al-Qaida offshoot, notorious for its beheading of hostages, to take over Kobani. But they have done little to stop its advances, in particular in Sunni areas of western Iraq, where it has executed hundreds of tribesmen.............

US Destroying Syria’s Oil Infrastructure Under Guise of Fighting ISIS
The US is considering bombing pipelines in Syria, which it claims is in an attempt to cut off the huge profits being made by ISIS from captured oilfields.
The Independent quotes Julieta Valls Noyes, the deputy assistant secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs during a visit to London, that ISIS was making $2 million a day off oil sales and that the US would consider airstrikes as well as “kinetic strikes against some pipelines” and “actual physical action to stop the flow”.
The trouble with this justification for destroying Syria’s oil pipelines, is that ISIS does not have the capability to use the pipelines to transfer oil. ISIS transports the stolen oil on the back of trucks, and sells it on the black market in Turkey..........

Leader of Nigeria's extremists says kidnapped girls all married off, threatens to kill German
With a malevolent laugh, the leader of Nigeria's Islamic extremists tells the world that more than 200 kidnapped schoolgirls have all been converted to Islam and married off, dashing hopes for their freedom.
"If you knew the state your daughters are in today, it might lead some of you ... to die from grief," Abubakar Shekau sneers, addressing the parents of the girls and young women kidnapped from a remote boarding school more than six months ago.
In a new video released late Friday night, the Boko Haram leader also denies there is a cease-fire with the Nigerian government and threatens to kill an unidentified German hostage.
"Don't you know we are still holding your German hostage (who is) always crying," he taunts. "If we want, we will hack him or slaughter him or shoot him."............

From PressTV:
At least 24 people have been killed and some 50 others wounded as a bomb blast ripped through the south of Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
The explosion occurred when a truck filled with explosives blew up at a checkpoint near a southern Baghdad district on Saturday.
A separate blast rocked Baghdad’s Palestine Street, the casualties of which are yet to be announced.

On October 31, a bomb explosion ripped through a sheep market in Baghdad’s western suburb of Suweib at around noon. Five people died and 13 others were injured in the attack.
Iraqi officials usually blame similar terrorist attacks on Takfiri militants and former Ba’athists who Baghdad says have formed an alliance to destabilize the country.
Baghdad has also pointed the finger at Saudi Arabia, saying Riyadh is funding terrorists operating in Iraq.....

Israeli police on Thursday shot dead a 32-year-old Palestinian man suspected of having tried hours earlier to kill a far-right Jewish activist, leading to fierce clashes in East Jerusalem and fears of a new Palestinian uprising.
The Al-Aqsa compound, or Temple Mount, a holy site at the heart of the latest violence, was shut down for almost an entire day to all visitors as a security precaution. It was the first full closure of the site, venerated by both Jews and Muslims, in 14 years. Late on Thursday Israeli police reopened the complex.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas denounced Israel's actions as "tantamount to a declaration of war" and his Fatah party called for a "day of rage" on Friday. It was not clear if Al Aqsa would be opened to Muslims on their holy day.

ISIS mission: Canadian CF-18s complete operational flights in Iraq
Canada joins U.S., Britain, Australia and several Gulf States in air coalition
Canadian warplanes have flown their first operational flights, but have yet to carry out strike missions against Islamic State targets.

.....A number of fresh reports are circulating that coalition jets could face an increased anti-aircraft threat as Islamic State fighters are now apparently armed with sophisticated shoulder-launched missiles.
U.S. officials, speaking on background to the New York Times earlier this week, described the appearance of the Chinese-made FN-6 heat-seeking missiles as "game changers." It is believed the weapons were originally provided to moderate Syrian rebels by Qatar and possibly Saudi Arabia, according to the report.
The missiles are a major threat to low-flying aircraft, such as attack helicopters. ISIS reportedly shot down an Iraqi Army Apache gunship using the weapons.......

UN Report: Foreign Jihadis Flocking to Iraq and Syria on "unprecedented scale"
A report by the United Nations shows new terrorist groups including the Islamic State have attracted over 15,000 foreign fighters, drawing large numbers of recruits from a broader base than ever before, including 80 nations worldwide.
The figure is significantly more than Al-Qaeda managed at its zenith and shows the remarkable pull of the new generation of groups with their sophisticated propaganda operations can achieve. The declaration of a new Caliphate, the first since the collapse of the Ottoman Empire in the last century, is also thought to have significantly boosted numbers, as believers flock to become part of what they hope will become an Islamic super state.

Who's responsible for the death of protesters by sniper fire in Kiev?

Dr Ivan Katchanovsk's paper is very detailed.  I am still reading through it.

From RussiaInsider
Paper presented at the Chair of Ukrainian Studies Seminar at the University of Ottawa, Ottawa, October 1, 2014

The massacre of several dozen Maidan protesters on February 20, 2014 was a turning point in Ukrainian politics and a tipping point in the escalating conflict between the West and Russia over Ukraine.

The mass killing of the protesters and the mass shooting of the police that preceded it led to the overthrow of the highly corrupt and pro-Russian, but democratically elected government of Viktor Yanukovych and gave a start to a large-scale violent conflict that continues now in Donbas in Eastern Ukraine.

A conclusion promoted by the post-Yanukovych governments and the media in Ukraine that the massacre was perpetrated by government snipers on a Yanukovych order has been nearly universally accepted by the Western governments and the media, at least publicly, without concluding an investigation and without all evidence considered. For instance, Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko in his speech to the US Congress on September 18, 2014 again claimed that the Yanukovych government overthrow resulted from mass peaceful protests against police violence, in particular, killings of more than 100 protesters by snipers on February 20, 2014.

The question is which side organized the snipers massacre. This paper is the first academic study of this crucial case of the mass killing. Analysis of a large amount of evidence in this study suggests that certain elements of the Maidan opposition, including its extremist far right wing, were involved in this massacre in order to seize power and that the government investigation was falsified for this reason.

Evidence
Evidence used in this study includes publicly available but unreported, suppressed, or misrepresented videos and photos of suspected shooters, live statements by the Maidan announcers, radio intercepts of the Maidan snipers, and snipers and commanders from the special Alfa unit of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), ballistic trajectories, eyewitness reports by both Maidan protesters and government special unit commanders, public statements by both former and current government officials, bullets and weapons used, types of wounds among both protesters and the police, and the track record of politically motivated misrepresentations by the Maidan politicians of other cases of violence during and after the Euromaidan and historical conflicts..........

Time for Winter Woes in France?

After the so called Arab Springs, is it now time for "Winter Woes" in countries that see snow, woes brought on by (as usual, I will go out on a limb) mainly actors cut from the same cloth as Arabs? What's happening in France today is a preview of what's coming our way in North America too? Who or whom would you hold responsible if similar unrest happens in Canada?  Would you blame the government for its foolish immigration and foreign policies or would you find it easier to  blame the rioters?   Yes .... I know there will be a big percentage of ethnic French too among the rioters. I have seen for myself what they look like while holidaying in France years ago.  They are neo-Nazis and extremely young. Most will be in their 20s and below.  Both Nazis and Muslims make use of each other when it suits their purpose.

Riots, clashes in France after activist dies in police grenade blast
Another anti-police brutality protest turned violent in the French city of Rennes, with masked youths and police engaging in running street battles. The unrest follows the death of a young environmental activist earlier this week.

Overnight Thursday, protesters in the northwestern city lobbed flairs at police and flipped over cars, some of which they set ablaze. Police responded by firing tear gas. The number of arrests or injures, if any, remains unclear.
A similar protest in Paris on Wednesday also descended into violence. Around 250 people gathered outside City Hall in Paris, with some throwing rocks at police and writing "Remi is dead, the state kills" on walls, The Local’s French edition reports. At least 33 people were taken into police custody following the unrest.
The protests are in response to the death of 21-year-old activist Remi Fraisse. He was killed early on Sunday by an explosion, which occurred during violent clashes with police at the site of a contested-dam project in southwestern France.

His death, the first in a mainland protest in France since 1986, has been blamed on a concussion grenade fired by police. France’s Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve, who came under serious pressure to resign following the incident, announced an immediate suspension of such grenades, which are intended to stun rather than kill......

In "democratic" United States of America, an ex-CIA is arrested to prevent him from attending Petraeus event in case he asked wrong questions

You won't find this news, no matter how hard you try, in any of the so called MSM.  Check out what commenters at link below are saying when they tried to find more on what really happened.

Robert Parry writing at ConsortiumNews:
Petraeus Spared Ray McGovern’s Question
Former CIA analyst Ray McGovern, who was arrested by New York City police on Thursday night to prevent him from attending a speech by retired Gen. and ex-CIA Director David Petraeus, told me the day before that he was planning to ask a question during the Q-and-A.

McGovern, who writes regularly for Consortiumnews.com, compared his goal in New York to his famous questioning of then-Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld in Atlanta in 2006 when McGovern pressed Rumsfeld on false statements he had made about Iraq’s WMD and ties to al-Qaeda.

But the 75-year-old McGovern was blocked from entering the event at the 92nd Street Y, was roughly put under arrest, and was held overnight in jail. He described his ordeal in an interview with RT, saying “I was warned as soon as I got to the ticket-taker, ‘Ray, you’re not welcome here.’”

McGovern, who was suffering from a shoulder injury, said he was caused sharp pain by being forcefully handcuffed. “If you’ve seen the footage, you can see me screaming in pain as they try to pin my left wrist around behind my back,” McGovern told RT.

He was hauled off to a local precinct and charged with resisting arrest, criminal trespass and disorderly conduct. He said he spent the night on a stainless steel cot.

In our conversation a day earlier, on Wednesday, McGovern said he was calling from the bus traveling between Washington and New York en route to speak at his alma mater, Fordham University. But he said he also planned to attend the Thursday speech by Petraeus, who was one of President George W. Bush’s favorite generals during the Iraq War. McGovern noted that prominent neocon theorist Max Boot was moderating the Petraeus talk.

During the Iraq War under President Bush and the Afghan War under President Barack Obama, Petraeus collaborated closely with leading neoconservatives as they pushed for escalations of the two conflicts. In 2009, Petraeus was part of a successful behind-the-scenes effort by Bush holdovers to trap Obama into a “surge” of 30,000 troops into Afghanistan........
