The next week Stalin would give a speech and everything would be the same except Vladimir was no longer in the front row. He was in the gulag. This is how White House staffs come to think: Never be the first one to stop applauding......

I bet Brazil and India will be happy when Obama gets his way with the healthcare, because those countries are where Americans and Canadians will be forced to go for surgeries that cannot wait for months on end.

The two gubernatorial elections in NJ and Virginia were outright wins, although I read on one of the blogs that ACORN has their dirty fingers plunged deep into the NJ results and are crying "foul" because in spite of tricks and threats, a Republican won the governorship.

If the candidate in NY-23 had won, it would have been a huge feather in Sarah Palin's cap and being the realist that I am, I had used the word IF in an earlier posting, so the lefty blogger  gloating at Hoffman's loss, is amiss as usual.  I had my doubts, as after listening to Hoffman I felt he came across as pretty insipid and not forceful enough. Many intellectuals who are at heart just simple people, tend to sound less convincing than the boisterous windbags we are fooled into thinking are God's gift to mankind.

Moreover, after the betrayal of the GOP candidate Dede something endorsing the Dem candidate, probably to please her husband who is a somebody in the Unions, I thought that if Hoffman won, then Palin's cap would become invisible having a multitude of feathers covering it, as it would prove beyond a doubt that Hoffman won against all odds only because of Palin's endorsement. It was not to be, and the reason is because  6% of Republican voters chose to vote for Dede, a candidate who had already opted out of the race after sucking almost a million $s from the Republican party, and whose name was still on the ballot. Quiet a disappointment. I will make like Whoopi Goldberg here and say:

"A disappointment but not a disappointment, disappointment".

Honoring an UK soldier: RIP

After successfully defusing 64 IEDs the last few months in Afghanistan a brave UK soldier gave up his life while trying to defuse the 65th IED. He was only 30. His expertise in rendering the IEDs useless must have saved many lives. The death was all the more tragic because Sergeant Schmid was killed on the last day of his tour of duty.

It amazes me no end that so many of our MPs who are supposed to be more intelligent than the Average Joe, show hardly any intellect. You would be able to find more sense in the gibberish of a dead drunk hobo than many of  these PQ MPs clamoring to have only French as the foremost language, as if the French language was the oil that drove the machinery of the world.   Are they so blind that they cannot see that it is the English language that holds sway throughout  the world. 

Maybe, on second thoughts, they are conniving enough to have only immigrants from France and Lebanon making their homes in PQ.

As the vice president knows, I have always advocated an all-of-the-above approach to American energy independence. Among other things, my alternative energy goal for Alaska sits at 50 percent because Alaska reached more than 20 percent during my term in office. The Obama-Biden administration, on the other hand, recently announced a renewable goal of only 25 percent. However, domestic drilling should remain a top priority in order to meet America’s consumption and security needs.

The vice president’s extreme opposition to domestic energy development goes all the way back to 1973 when he opposed the Alaska pipeline bill. As Ann Coulter pointed out, “Biden cast one of only five votes against the pipeline that has produced more than 15 billion barrels of oil, supplied nearly 20 percent of this nation’s oil, created tens of thousands of jobs, added hundreds of billions of dollars to the U.S. economy and reduced money transfers to the nation’s enemies by about the same amount.”

This nonsensical opposition to American domestic energy development continues to this day. Apparently the Obama-Biden administration only approves of offshore drilling in Brazil, where it will provide security and jobs for Brazilians. This election is about American security and American jobs.

There’s one way to tell Vice President Biden that we’re tired of folks in Washington distorting our message and hampering our nation’s progress: Hoffman, Baby, Hoffman!

The USS New York sails into New York Harbor

A navy assault ship built in Louisiana with 7.5 tons of steel from the fallen World Trade Center makes it's debut today on the Hudson and will give a 21-gun salute when it nears ground zero.
