Jason Kenny loves his country

The recent announcements that Jason Kenny made regarding the requirement of visas for Czech Republic and Mexican citizens coming into Canada, seem to have given a lot of fodder to the opposing parties to come out in all their glory and make flowery speeches on behalf of asylum claimants aka social assistance leeches and thus future voters for those parties. It is an excellent move by a Minister with a back-bone and is to be lauded. Jason Kenny loves his country

I only wish he could have been more open and listed all the reasons why visa requirements are being imposed. I admit that there must be genuine refugee claimants amongst the thousands that are flooding into Canada, but those numbers would be less than 20%, if that. Time and time again it has been proven that most refugee seekers lie outrageously on their application forms and get away with it. And, what about the visitors from The Czech Republic and Mexico, visitors who can saunter into Canada without any restrictions whatsoever. What percentage of these visitors actually exit from Canada? Even if Immigration Canada keeps a record of visitors who have not exited the country, where do they start looking for those culprits after the end of the visit period on their forms at the entry points? Are the members of the opposition parties blind to the growing drugs and human trafficking problems we are facing in this country? If they are indeed blind to this problem, then they are not doing their jobs efficiently and should not be in those positions of power.

When there are arrests made in the areas of sex trade, drug and human trafficking, the police authorities find that the persons are illegally in the country. How did they get here? Simple - did not need a visa. Below are various sources of information that brings this problem to light. We have a huge problem, and the sooner Canadians know about it, the sooner the pressure can be brought on their representatives to handle the situation without pandering to potential voters.
 All emphasis are mine.

TheStar A recent study by the Immigration Refugee Board found no evidence of state-sponsored persecution against the Roma and documented the steps the Czech government was taking to improve their living conditions. The study was seen as a way to bolster Canada's decision to try and stem the flow of asylum seekers into the country. "The sheer volume of these claims is undermining our ability to help people fleeing real persecution," Kenny said in a statement. "All too often, people who really need Canada's protection find themselves in a long line, waiting for months and sometimes years to have their claims heard. This is unacceptable." VancouverSun Poster "J" comments to article in VancouverSun on July 14: "What a bunch of BS. All those tour operators crying that they will lose substantial business from Mexico. We need visas to go the Russia, China and other countries yet millions of tourists go there. As for those organizations supporting refugees, Canadians are sick and tired of being a country where anyone can come and claim refugee status whether the claims are legitimate or not. The claimants clog up our system, cost us millions and it takes forever to send them back. There are hundreds of millions of impoverished people in Africa, Mexico, Eastern Europe, Asia and around the world. Are we to offer welcome mats for all of them?" US GVNet The Czech Republic is a source, transit, and destination country for women from Slovakia, Ukraine, Russia, Romania, Belarus, Moldova, Bulgaria, Mongolia, and Brazil trafficked to the Netherlands, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Germany for the purpose of commercial sexual exploitation. The Czech Republic is a destination for men and women trafficked from Ukraine, Russia, Moldova, Belarus, China, Vietnam, Mongolia, and Brazil for the purpose of labor exploitation. Roma women are trafficked within the country and abroad for forced prostitution. - U.S. State Dept Trafficking in Persons Report, June, 2009 According to the reports, which have been substantiated by Roma community leaders and international human rights observers, several young Slovak Roma women have recently been kidnapped and then sold to Czech underworld figures. The captives are then smuggled into western countries, where they are forced into prostitution. This website should get more exposure: canadafightshumantrafficking "Human trafficking is the fastest growing crime globally, presently sitting at the second largest organized crime world-wide Last year, a Niagara man was convicted of human trafficking. He made over $350,000 off of a young 15 year old girl by sexually exploiting her daily over a period of two years. He only received 3 years for the offense of human trafficking and received credit for the 404 days already served. Women, girls, boys - over 2 million children world wide are stripped of all rights, dignity, self-respect, peace, security, hope – everything that gives joy. The total market value of illicit human trafficking is estimated to be in excess of $32 billion. (U.N.) The minimum sentence in the USA is 10 years, India 7 years, Thailand 5 years, Canada 0 years. Canada's criminal code provides a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years for living off the avails of a child prostitute. Why is trafficking a minor any different? Victims ranging from ages 4 and up, are raped anywhere from 10-40 times a day. Humans are the second most trafficked "product" in the black market. According to the RCMP, 800 to 1200 people are trafficked in and through Canada every year, however some activists would peg the number as high as 15,000. The impact of trafficking on Canada is estimated at between $120 million to $400 million per year and accounts for approximately 8,000 to 16,000 people arriving in Canada per year illegally. ("Organized Crime Impact Study," Solicitor General of Canada) In Canada a girl can be sold for $15,000 and earn her owner over $40,000 a year." LawyersweeklyCanada In May 2006, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) first introduced measures to protect foreign victims of human trafficking by providing them with temporary residence permits (TRPs), administered with guidelines specifically addressed to the problem, along with access to interim federal healthcare. Subsequent improvements in 2007 increased the initial period for the TRPs to 180 days and the ability to obtain a work permit. Until recently, few details on the actual implementation of these measures have been made public. Between May 2006 and May 2008, records released by CIC under the Access to Information Act revealed that immigration officials were notified of at least 31 foreign nationals who were potential human trafficking victims. Four of them were minors. Only a small handful of TRP applications were made with the assistance of legal counsel. Mexico and human trafficking US GVNet The Government of Mexico does not fully comply with the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking; however, it is making significant efforts to do so. The government took steps to implement its federal anti-trafficking law, issuing regulations in February 2009. As of May 2009, twenty-two Mexican states and its federal district had enacted legislation to criminalize some forms of human trafficking on the local level. However, no convictions or stringent punishments against trafficking offenders were reported last year, though the federal government opened 24 criminal investigations against suspected trafficking offenders. Moreover, the government has not completed renovations on its planned trafficking shelter, though it continued to refer victims to NGOs for assistance. While Mexican officials recognize human trafficking as a serious problem, the lack of a stronger response by the government is of concern, especially in light of the large number of victims present in the country. I request my readers, especially those with teenage children, to PLEASE watch the movie "Taken" starring Liam Neeson. Bewareness is akin to knowledge.
