I love it when the Left get their thongs in a twist .....

which of late, seems to be  happening all the time.  They are simply going off their rockers!   Pure unadulterated  fun, I tell you.    Hahahahaha ... I bet many of you who are unfortunate enough to have all those hyper-sensitive lefties as either your friends, acquaintances or just names on email forwards, have received a "pitiful" petition from the "perpertual twisted thongs wearers" begging you to sign something to stop FoxNews North from gracing our shores. Man...oh...man ... I laughed so hard I got breathless and had to stop a bit before going on again haahahhahahaahhahaha What a day, what a day, what a day!!! hahahahahhaha

I remember the time when I made a fuss about Al Jazeera coming to Canada, at that time I had to delete more comments than usual from those hypocritical lefties because they were dancing on hot coals telling me off.  And now,  see how the tables have turned !!!   My...oh....my !!!

This is what the petition, that has originated from avaaz.org says: (Avaaz, BTW means "Voice" in Urdu the language of Pakistan and part of India, nice eh?! ...  Now that itself , that Avaaz.org originated from Pakistan most likely, got more guffaws from me)  Folks .... just say a big Thank You to the Avaaz folks who dreamed up this laughable petition for giving us belly laughs today.   Hahahahahahha

Dear friends,
Prime Minister Harper is trying to push American-style hate media onto our airwaves, and make us all pay for it.

His plan is to create a "Fox News North" to mimic the kind of hate-filled propaganda with which Fox News has poisoned U.S. politics. The channel will be run by Harper’s former top aide and will be funded with money from our cable TV fees!

One man stands in the way of this nightmare -- the Chairman of Canada's Radio and Telecommunications Commission Konrad von Finckenstein. He's rejected the plan as a violation of CRTC policies, so now Harper is trying to get him out of the job. Let's urgently send a massive wave of public support to von Finckenstein, with 100,000 Canadians encouraging him to keep standing up for Canada, and standing firm against Harper's pressure. Sign the petition below and forward this email to everyone -- we'll publish full page ads in Canadian papers when we reach 100,000:

Harper hatched his scheme in a secret lunch last year with media-mogul Rupert Murdoch, the owner of Fox News. Harper's top aide Kory Teneycke also came to the lunch, and then left the government to head up Suncor Newspapers and the new "Fox News North".

Fox News fuels hate. While constantly claiming to be “fair” and “balanced”, it allows hysterical anchors like Glenn Beck to compare Obama to "Lucifer" and "Hitler". Bill O’Reilly, another anchor, has threatened to boycott Canada, and Anne Coulter says Canada is “lucky the US allows it to exist on the same continent.” The network has calculatingly spawned the tea party movement in the US, a mobilisation of the fringe right which threatens violence upon its opponents and wears guns to political rallies.

This is a fight for the soul of Canadian democracy. Our media is not perfect, but a ‘news’ network that slavishly serves a political agenda through mass manipulation and fear threatens the fabric of our democratic society.
The CRTC is part of our democracy -- it was made an independent commission precisely in order to protect against this kind of government manipulation of the media. Harper knows that he must bully his way through this institution in order to create "Fox News North". And there are dark rumours in Ottawa that if von Finckenstein will not leave his job, Harper will simply force him to give in. Konrad von Finckenstein is upholding the best tradition of Canadian democracy and civil service in the face of a full scale attack on that tradition. Let's show him, and Harper, that Canada stands with him.

"Fox News North" is Harper's long term strategy to make radical conservatism the political centre in Canada, tearing down the country we love to make us look like the U.S. Thankfully, Konrad von Finckenstein and the CRTC are standing in his way -- let's stand with them.

With hope,
Ricken, Emma, Iain, Laryn and the rest of the Avaaz team

  1. Are we shocked a left wing advocacy group that is funded by wealthy Liberals is trying to limit free speech that does not conform to their ideology?

  2. So what exactly is their purpose here? If they reach a magic number then Sun Media will implode. I love it when the left blows up about anything conservative, and froth at the mouth as they call us the "angry" ones.

  3. Funny that an organization based in New York has such an interest in Canada.

  4. In USA eh? Somewhere on the internet highway I read that Avaaz also collects email addressees of those who sign their petitions and then sells them to interested parties.
But .... shhhhhh... don't tell that to the lefties.

  6. Robin ... hahaha. Actually, if I do happen to go on that side of the pond, I have to put on my "rainboots" you know the ones that come up to almost your waist. Wading through the muck there and at the same time holding my nose, is just too tiring.

  8. I did support Avaaz in past efforts (the whale hunt and the plight of the Iranian woman) and believed them to do a number of good things I could get behind (including financially)but this is the proverbial fork in the road. The left is out there whining that our tax dollars shouldn't go to pay for this right-wing style media - whose tax dollars are funding the frickin' CBC???? It doesn't get much more left than the CBC! As a Canadian, I am happy to have my tax dollars spent on media that might challenge our positions...

  9. I don't know if this is actually working, so, retrying. If it goes through twice, my apologies, just delete the extra.

ROTF! Another left-wing chain letter! Notice how they call it "take action" or "outreach" when they do it, but they call it "chain letters" when it comes from their opposition? Well, they are chain letters, and I'm linking to this entry on my own site against chain letters of all kinds - here's one more for the left-wing hall of chain letters! Thanks for the laugh! It's got all the hysterics of the US far-right-wing chains that yell about Obama putting his feet up on the Resolute desk! Where are the debunks to refute their claims that various conservatives actually said these quotes they cited in the chain petition above? Conservatives do need to stop passing on chain letters, especially any with an ounce of untruth or frivolus gunk in them, but let's start calling out the left-wing "action" petitions for what they are, chain letters! Hahahahaha! http://cbcf.boardhost.com

  10. This article by the leading blogger on Hubpages (one of America's top 125 websites) describes a completely innovative and effective solution to the ongoing Quebec issue. He envisions the creation of a Canadian Capital District stretching from Ottawa to the West Island and to just east of Cornwall where bilingual rights are strictly protected, and which can also act as a tax-exempt Free Foreign Trade Zone to boost the area's economic development: http://hubpages.com/hub/The-Canadian-Capital-District-The-Solution-To-Finally-Achieving-English-French-Equality
