Due to a broken leg, George Soros has asked for a delay in giving a deposition in his long-running legal battle with his former Brazilian girlfriend.
The billionaire investor’s lawyers were in court Tuesday to seek a postponement in the case brought by Adriana Ferreyr, the former actress who is suing Soros for $50 million, claiming he reneged on a promise to buy her a $1.9 million apartment on the Upper East Side.
Ferreyr said in her 2011 filing that they dated for five years and she was dumped in 2010. She was 27 at the time and Soros was 80. Ferreyr claims he gave her apartment to another girlfriend, Tamiko Bolton, who is now his third wife.
Meanwhile, Soros is countersuing Ferreyr for defamation and assault. We’re told that lawyers for Soros yesterday asked for the postponement in the already drawn-out case, saying the 83-year-old business magnate had broken his leg. He now has until Feb. 10 to give his deposition. Lawyers for Soros last night declined to comment and Ferreyr could not be reached.......

Pro-abortion feminists are not happy that the European Parliament rejected a bill that would have called abortion a human right. In response, in protest, they invaded a local Catholic church in Italy and unfurled a pro-abortion banner on the church’s altar.
“A group of pro-abortion feminists have invaded the Catholic cathedral in Bologna, Italy, to protest against the rejection by the European Parliament of the pro-abortion Estrela report,” says John Smeaton, the head of the British pro-life group Society for the Protection of Unborn Children. “The protesters unfurled a pro-abortion banner in front of the cathedral’s sanctuary. Cardinal Carlo Caffara, Bologna’s archbishop, had called upon the European Parliament to reject the Estrela report.”

.......The Estrela report, which the abortion and aberrosexual ideologues wanted to anchor as an official EU Directive, was rejected on the 10th December by the plenary of the European Parliament by a narrow margin. With the Estrela Report, named after the Portuguese Socialist Edite Estrela, the killing of unborn children in the EU would have been signed as a "women's right". The report also wanted to force all the EU Member States to legalize the artificial insemination of lesbians. The Austrian Green MEP and avowed lesbian Ulrike Lunacek had advocated significantly in the relevant equality committee for the measure. The MEP responded to the rejection of tts report with a hysterical attack, as representative Lunacek scolded: "With the vote of the European Parliament, it bows to the pressure of ultra-conservative and reactionary politicians and non-governmental organizations". The Estrela Report also wanted to restrict the right of conscientious objection by doctors, pharmacists and medical staff in connection with abortion, contraception and artificial insemination. ..........

The two members of the House of Representatives have read the blacked-out portions, including 28 totally blank pages that deal largely with Saudi government ties to the alleged 9/11 hijackers.

A U.S. appeals court on Thursday revived claims by families of victims of the September 11, 2001, attacks who alleged that Saudi Arabia provided material support to al Qaeda.
Reversing a lower court ruling, the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York said "the interests of justice" justified reviving the claims, in light of a 2011 decision that allowed similar claims to proceed against Afghanistan.
Circuit Judge Chester Straub wrote for a three-judge panel that it would be "especially anomalous" to treat both sets of plaintiffs differently. He returned the case to U.S. District Judge George Daniels in Manhattan for further proceedings.
The litigation was brought on behalf of families of the nearly 3,000 people killed in the September 11 attacks, as well as insurers that covered losses suffered by building owners and businesses.
Most of the attackers were Saudi nationals who hijacked planes and flew them into the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and - when passengers revolted - into a field in Pennsylvania.....

Big Boost for Sun News Network
Guess we will continue to get 40% more truth than the CBC which gives us only about 30% of the facts .... which still means we will get only about 70% of unbiased news from SunTV. Oh well .... it's better than what we were fed before SunTV came on the scene.

....The CRTC is shaking up the broadcasting landscape, with a major decision that will make more news channels available to Canadians.
The broadcast regulator says it will require all cable and satellite companies in Canada to offer Sun News Network, along with all other Canadian news channels, to all their subscribers as of March 19.
"Canadian news services are an important part of our democracy," CRTC chairman Jean-Pierre Blais said in a statement Thursday. "With the rules we are announcing today, Canadians, as citizens, will have access to the news services that are of interest to them and will therefore have an opportunity to be exposed to a variety of opinions on matters of public concern."
The decision does not mean that all cable and satellite subscribers will automatically get every Canadian news channel in their basic package.
Still, it does mean that Canadians will at least have the option to subscribe to them - a choice many Canadians have not yet been able to make with Sun News.....

Abductions, torture, killing, sharia courts, secret prisons with “inhuman” conditions – that’s what an Al-Qaeda-linked jihadist group in Syria is accused of in the latest report by Amnesty International. Victims included children as young as eight.
According to the Amnesty report, people were seized by masked men, held for weeks on end in solitary confinement at unknown locations and tried by self-styled Islamic sharia courts, which frequently pass death sentences or impose harsh corporal punishment.
Former detainees described being beaten with rubber generator belts or cables, tortured with electric shocks and being forced into a painful stress position known as the "scorpion" in which the detainee's wrists are bound over one shoulder.
All the prisoners detained by the group ISIS (the Islamic State in Iraq and al-Sham) were held in “cruel and inhuman conditions.”
For instance, two 14-year-olds were among those sentenced to floggings, and one of the fathers was forced to listen to his son's screams of pain as the boy was tortured in a nearby room.
Another example provided by Amnesty concerns a child of about 14 receive a flogging of more than 90 lashes during interrogation at Sadd al-Ba’ath, an ISIS prison in al-Raqqa governorate. Another child of about 14 who ISIS accused of stealing a motorbike repeatedly received severe corporal punishment over several days.
Some people were held by ISIS for common crimes like theft, while others were detained for smoking, sex outside of marriage, or because they challenged the group's rule or belong to other armed organizations.......

Vladimir Putin will sign a pardon for jailed ex-Yukos CEO Mikhail Khodorkovsky “in the nearest time,” the Russian president announced following a large media conference in Moscow.
“He has spent over ten years in confinement – which is a serious term, I believe,” Putin told journalists on Thursday after a four-hour Q&A session with national and foreign media.
In the pardon plea that Khodorkovsky “has written just recently,” he referred to “humanitarian circumstances,” the president said. “His mother is ill. And I think that a decision can be made and the decree on the pardon will be signed in the nearest time.”
Under Russian law, convicts are entitled to seek a pardon, Putin said. However, Khodorkovsky did not do so until recently, when an appeal was finally submitted, he said.
The comment was made after the annual press-conference with over 1,300 journalists present. Just as the president was preparing to leave the conference hall, one of reporters asked him about Khodorkovsky......

although the Harper cons are not saying that the $45M is "initial" aid, what are the bets that Canada will have to fork out at least half a billion dollars before things quiet down in Syria and parts? Over and above that, Canada will have to accept thousands upon thousands of Syrian refugees in the coming months and years.
What kind of nincompoops advised the Harper govt to support Assad's opponents and start the "revolution" in Syria? Did Harper know that the "revolution" was a proxy war between Syria and Iran on one side and several other nations on the other side? Of course, he did!

"Canada continues to work with humanitarian organizations to address the most pressing needs on the ground. With the arrival of winter, millions of Syrians impacted by the ongoing conflict require improved shelter, warm clothes and food, emergency health care, and protection services," said Minister Paradis.
Since early 2011, millions of people have been affected by the violence in Syria, with many fleeing the country due to the deteriorating humanitarian situation. An estimated 9.3 million people in Syria, of whom 6.5 million are internally displaced, require humanitarian assistance. In addition, there are close to three million Syrian refugees—2.3 million registered and an estimated 620,000 unregistered—living in neighbouring countries.
"Canada remains committed to saving lives and addressing the most critical needs of those affected by this crisis. We continue to call for a political solution to this crisis, and while it is ongoing, it is imperative that all sides allow for safe and unhindered access to humanitarian workers," added Minister Paradis.

The Duck Dynasty group should get out of the contract they have with A&E and take their much watched show to A&E's rivals who will welcome them with open arms.

On Wednesday, A&E suspended Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson over comments he made to GQ magazine about homosexuality, angering a large number of people nationwide. As a result of A&E's actions, supporters of Duck Dynasty and free speech have decided to boycott the network until it lifts the suspension.
Twitchy said Wednesday a Boycott A&E Twitter account was established. As of this writing, that account has over 3,200 followers.
"Freedom of speech is not just for liberals," the account said in one of its few messages.
The account also posted a picture that reminds readers A&E forgot that Robertson said he would "never treat anyone with disrespect" simply because they are different from him.
The Christian Post's Crossmap also said a Facebook page titled, "Boycott A&E Until Phil Robertson Is Put Back On Duck Dynasty" was established right after A&E's announcement.
That page now has over 262,000 supporters...........

The finding, detailed online Dec. 17 in the journal Nature Communications, suggests the gems could be found on every continent, researchers say.
Diamonds form under the immense heat and pressure found nearly 100 miles (160 kilometers) below Earth's surface, in the planet's mantle layer, which is sandwiched between the outer crust and the core. Powerful volcanic eruptions bring these precious stones to Earth's surface, where they are embedded in blue-tinged rocks known as kimberlites.
Kimberlites can range from 10,000 to 2.1 billion years in age, and can have the deepest sources of any rocks on Earth's surface.
"Kimberlites in general inform us about conditions in the Earth's interior," said study lead author Gregory Yaxley, a geologist at Australian National University in Canberra. "Their geochemistry holds clues about the nature of the source rocks at these extreme depths."
Until now, kimberlites were found on every continent except Antarctica. Now, scientists have discovered these rocks on the southernmost continent......

Robertson described in the interview how sin is becoming acceptable in America and that the country needs to turn back to its Christian values.
“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men,” Robertson told GQ..........

Imagine that! A Salvation Army bell-ringer is ignorant about how to greet shoppers at Christmastime!
If only I could get hold of the address of the shopper who socked the greeter, I would send the woman a small gift in appreciation of what she did.
We need more people like her to teach the Christmas-haters what's what! At Christmastime the only greeting we should hear is "Merry Christmas and a happy New Year" ... that's it .... case closed!

A Phoenix Salvation Army bell-ringer got socked earlier this month for wishing one Walmart shopper “Happy Holidays” — a phrase the woman apparently found too politically correct.
"The lady looked at me,” Kristina Vindiola told KNXV-TV. “I thought she was going to put money in the kettle. She came up to me and said, 'Do you believe in God?' And she says, ‘You're supposed to say Merry Christmas,' and that's when she hit me."
The slugging shopper then went on her way into the store, leaving Vindiola outside with a bruised arm, shocked.
Vindiola had the Walmart manager call the cops. Responding police officers reviewed surveillance footage but could not find enough evidence to charge the shopper.
The Salvation Army told the TV station they don’t have a policy on what bell-ringers should say. Three different shoppers at the Phoenix center where Vindiola was hit told the station they had no problem with the “Happy Holidays” salutation — even those that prefer to say “Merry Christmas.”.............
