From Emirates247:
Saudi Arabia to ban 41 online newspapers after deadline ends.
Ministry will continue to monitor all electronic newspapers.
Saudi Arabia has decided to ban 41 online local newspapers after they failed to take measures to correct their position and comply with official regulations, an official at the ministry of culture and information was quoted on Monday as saying.
Internal media director Abdul Aziz Al Okail said the papers would be stopped within the next few days after they failed to meet a six-month deadline, which was extended several times to give them time to adjust.
“We have extended the deadline for them more than once but they failed to adhere. Forty-one newspapers will be banned in the next few days while more papers could also face closure,” he told Sabq online Arabic language daily.
“The Ministry will continue to monitor all electronic newspapers to ensure that they comply with the regulations.”
