Have you noticed how the leftist media while reporting something that they simply cannot slant too much, will still somehow implant some little word or phrase which to all appearances seem to be benign but on closer inspection, tells a completely different story. A few days ago, I posted about muslims trying to pray inside a "church that was originally a mosque". In that article, which was a link from the Independent, UK, who in turn had credited the Associated Press for the news item, there were a few things in that AP article that didn't sit right with me.
These were the sentences:
1) The Great Mosque of Cordoba was built after the Moorish invasion of Spain in the 8th century.
2) The mosque was transformed into a cathedral in 1236 when King Ferdinand III captured the city from the Moors.
3) The building still retains exquisite red and white arches and gleaming marble columns from the original mosque.
4) Ortiz said a group of 120 Muslim tourists from Austria entered the mosque Wednesday.
5) Mansur Escudero, a Spanish Muslim leader, said he has been pressing the Catholic church for years to let Muslims pray in the mosque, but to no end.
From the way the word "mosque" is worked inconspicuously in the sentences above, you can come to one conclusion and one conclusion only: The writer wants to convey that the cathedral was at one time a mosque and then the Christians converted it to something else but the muslims still have a right to pray within the structure as it used to be theirs.
The writer has painstakingly avoided telling readers that the mosque had been built on a Visigothic site, which was probably the site of an earlier Roman temple. The original building was the Christian Visigothic church of St.Vincent. The structure as it stands today is the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin, but that is not mentioned in the AP article, not once. However, the writer uses the word "mosque" umpteen times and more.
We must forever be on the alert for such disinformation and take whatever AP and the other media tries to feed us with a pinch of salt to make it palatable and than flush it out with a big dose of the truth for a proper colon cleanse.

Such Bull S^^^! Muslims have converted building to their purpose and I don't see alot of Christian service in Istanbul? What about the Hagia Sophia? or the Temple Mount?
ReplyDeleteHow about we give back the mosque when they give back they give back Constantinople? Its not going to happen. Its history. Get over it.
ReplyDeleteYou know, the same could be said about National Post, except slanted to the right.
ReplyDeleteAP, aren't those the guys caught photoshopping during the Israel/Lebanon war a few years back?
ReplyDeleteDMorris
Yes, indeed. the very same could be said about The National Post.
ReplyDeleteCase in point: They never did tell us who gave them a copy of that stupid Francois Houle letter to Ann Coulter.
Who was it? McClelland & Stewart head Doug Pepper, who just happens to be Ann Coulter's former editor, Ezra Levant's publisher and brother-in-law of the editor of the Post.
Now, one would think these facts are relevant, newsworthy and might even speak to motivation, but not the Post.
Wonder how many books Pepper has moved these past two weeks.
So...Jack the Lad... why didn't the other media in Canada tell about it then? How about your precious CBC and CTV, why didn't they? Or your precious Toronto Star and Globe & Mail or your precious other leftish media. They had ample opportunity to plaster their own side of the story... so why didn't they? Or are you delusional enough to think that even your leftish media conspired with the names named by you to keep this "important" bit of info, whose importance is "important" only to your way of thinking, out of the press.
ReplyDeleteMan... you lefties take the cake!!!!
Me, a leftie? Wow, do you have me pegged wrong!
ReplyDeleteThe CBC, CTV, Toronto Star, Globe and Mail and other leftish media, precious to me? Wow! A sweeping assumption based on what? Another example of the media not providing the whole story. And the fact that the other outlets failed to pick up on these things only backs up your point further. I'm not "delusional", and I don't believe in any leftish conspiracy in providing my example. I put the whole thing down to laziness and incompetence.
I'm happy that the letter was leaked, but I think it's relevant that the person who did it works for the company that publishes Coulter and Levant's books. I think it's also relevant that of all the media outlets Pepper could've sent the letter to he chose just one - his brother-in-law's paper.
You may not think that these facts are "important". Fine. Can we agree to disagree?I know you don't want people who are not "in sync" with your "mind-set" visiting your blog, but does one have to be entirely on the same page? You don't really think that anyone who departs even slightly from your way of thinking is a "delusional" leftie, do you?
Jack the Lad - You a leftie... of course not!!!
ReplyDeleteNow, go play somewhere else... pretty please !!!
Adults are busy doing adult things and have no time for people with dual personalities.
Goodbye little one.
So, that's it, is it? No discussion, no exchange of ideas, just dismissive insults and unfounded assumptions
ReplyDeleteI won't play your game.
Goodbye.
