Conservative brains are attuned to detect ...

stuff that does not sound right, no matter how flowery the language used to describe the cause and no matter how pretty and sanctimonious the name of the organization happens to be. We knew from long back that Amnesty International was "staffed" to the gills with individuals who were biased in their findings and reportage . From now on, officially, nothing they say will hold water. One of them has come out of the closet about where their heart really lies, and it's with terrorists. That's how it starts. One individual with an active conscience can move mountains and change the landscape. Many of us have felt that Amnesty Intl were just a tool of the Hamas propaganda machine during the Gaza war and now that a whistleblower has come forth showing the workings behind Amnesty International's findings and stance, this organization has lost whatever credibility it ever had to begin with.

  1. I wonder with Amnesty International working with these fools and condemning the west for prisoner abuse, will they finally release a report on the Taliban's and Al Qaida's humane rights records and prison conditions.

Exactly, that's why they have no credibility.

  2. Yes, conservatives usually have well a developed bullshit detection system. The progressives seem to be stuck at the kindergarten stage of "I want to belong", and they'll find themselves sucked into the most outrageous causes, all headed by charismatic spokesmen.

Pathetic, and it would be funny if they hadn't taken over the once most powerful Nation on Earth.

    Now, it's no laughing matter.

  3. I'm a member of the Amnesty International chapter at the University of Alberta, and I can tell you that the organization is wrought with serious problems.

For one thing, leadership of the organization is heavily centralized. Human Rights Actions have to be sanctioned by AI leadership, which means that if they have a political bias that favours papering over an abuse, AI chapters are essentially forbidden from speaking out about it.

It almost seems like an alternative to Amnesty International is needed, but I don't think human rights advocates can afford to divide themselves between ideological camps.
