Life sentence reduced to 15 years for Qatari man. Wanna know why he was arrested?

Qatar, the supposedly "progressive" hellhole in the Middle East.  Qatar, the country with all those futuristic-like high rises.  Qatar, where the FIFA staffed with bribe takers and givers, have deemed it appropriate to hold the world cup in 2022.  Qatar, the owners of Al Jazeera TV the Trojan Horse welcomed with open arms in the dhimmi countries of the West (mine included).   Yes, THAT Qatar ... THAT progressive  Qatar  cannot tolerate a poem criticizing the government of Qatar.

Much like the other Sunni nations,  this hellhole too  accused the poet  of "trying to overthrow the govt".  Yup, one does not need revolutions or artillery anymore.  Poems can be lethal enough to accomplish all that with just a stanza or a limerick or a sonnet or a haiku or even a silly little free verse.

....Qatari poet life sentence reduced to 15 years.  A Qatari poet sentenced to life in prison for inciting the overthrow of the government and insulting Qatar's rulers has had his jail term cut.

Mohammed al-Ajami's sentence was reduced to 15 years, his lawyer said.

The Supreme Court is due to make a final ruling on his sentence within the next 30 days.

Human rights groups have condemned Mr Ajami's conviction, saying his trial was marred by irregularities, with court sessions held in secret.

The case against Mr Ajami is said to be based on a poem he wrote in 2010 which criticised the Emir, Sheikh Hamad al-Thani.....
