Won another bet today...

A few days ago, I read in one of the middle east forums, that there were close to a 100 warships hovering just beyond Iranian waters. I make easy pickings from those in my family who think I exaggerate too much and am full of conspiracy theories. When people refuse to believe me, I tell them to put their money on the table and I will prove to them that my instincts with a bit of reseach never betray me. So, I had bet that not only are there warships from NATO members in the vicinity of Iran but that the USA would also send heavy state of the art weaponry and never seen before artillery to join the others, if not already done so.

Oh, and by the way ... the UFOs seen by people in Newfoundland.... wanna bet they were missiles being tested?    Yeah, I am talking to you BC Blue.

The reason why we like Jason Kenney a lot

Remember how the MSM were criticizing Minister Kenney for not bringing in the orphaned adoptees into Canada pronto?

This is the reason why Kenney, wise man that he is, did not jump the queue and did not let anyone pull his strings.
In addition to outright trafficking in children, authorities have voiced fears since the quake that legitimate aid groups may have flown earthquake orphans out of the country for adoption before efforts to find their parents had been exhausted
As a result, the Haitian government halted many types of adoptions earlier this month. There are no reliable estimates of the number of parentless and lost children at risk in Haiti's quake-shattered capital
And, how about that foolish Liberal leader Ignatieff saying things like we "should broaden the family class category and speed Haitian immigrants entry into Canada". Jason Kenney is again 100% correct in not opening the flood gates to this kind of immigration without all the processes being done fully and completely. As much as my heart goes out to the people of Haiti, emotions should not interfere in making sure that the Haitian refugees and immigrants coming into Canada are who they say they are and not some common criminals, who unfortunately make up a staggering percentage of Haitians.

Yahoo's weather widget goes bonkers....

knowingly and by design?   First it is Google that go slant and now Yahoo too does the dirty on us. These search engines are at the mercy of their drivers and the drivers are becoming more and more unstable in the dying days of Leftism.

Apparently someone has convinced Yahoo to go into their News Weather data, erase "Ariel, Israel" as a valid location, and replace it "Jenin, Palestinian Occupied Territories." The 20,000 residents from Ariel, where the relevant weather station is built, apparently don't deserve their own weather. Yahoo has decreed that it belongs to the residents of Jenin, which is 25 miles north and 850 feet lower. It's absurd that this kind of petty crap even has to be addressed, but inasmuch as it's part and parcel of a broad-based replacement geography campaign it's unfortunately not trivial......

The curse of religions ....

every last one of them.  Hit me all you want, but I think that there are fanatics in all religions... be it Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism... what have you. There are basket-cases in all religions but the most deadly and the biggest percentage can be found only in the believers of Islam. The other day someone called me a racist because of my stance on muslims. I thought racism meant that one was against a race or a black person, or a brown person or a yellow person or a white person or maybe against a green Martian as well... who knows what racism stands for anymore.

The word "racist" is brandish about by the Left so much that it has completely lost it's impact and also it's meaning. If I am against  Somali muslims (black) or against Saudi Arabian muslims (brown) or against Russian muslims (white) or against Martian muslims (green, I am presuming that's their color from the images in comic books) then I suppose I am a full blown racist and against everybody on this planet and beyond.  Wow.... Quick somebody get the strait jacket so I can be strapped and parcelled off post haste to the nearest loony bin so muslims of every color and race are saved from my venom.

What brought this on? Read the article below and you will see how the plague of islam is the worst enemy the West will ever encounter. And the stupid amongst us dare to call those who oppose islam, racists.

....Court documents unsealed by federal prosecutors in Minneapolis on November 23, 2009 provide a detailed look at how al-Shabaab recruits and raises money in the United States. The documents examine the case of Burhan Ahmed, who was part of a group of four men who left the Minneapolis area in December 2007 to fight against Ethiopian forces that had invaded Somalia. He first went to Saudi Arabia to participate in the pilgrimage to Mecca, then joined the other three at an al-Shabaab safe house in Somalia.

Between December 2007 and February 2008 the men moved "from northern Somalia to an al-Shabaab training camp in southern Somalia, staying at multiple al-Shabaab houses along the way," according to a criminal complaint by FBI Special Agent Michael Cannizzaro. "The trainees were trained by, among others, Somali, Arab, and Western instructors in, among other things, small arms, machine guns, rocket-propelled grenades, and military-style tactics. The trainees were also indoctrinated with anti-Ethiopian, anti-American, anti-Israeli, and anti-Western beliefs."...... read the whole thing

You have until midnight tomorrow ....

to take advantage of the Home Renovation Tax Credit. This was one of the several great ideas from the Harper govt. Works like a charm and I hope it will continue. Great for business and great for homeowners. You  wonder why the USA did not think of something so effective and yet so simple? It's because they have nuts in the WH. Three cheers for the Harper govt and for Canada's slow but steady recovery from the doldrums.

HRTC expires midnight Jan 31 How does it work? The HRTC is a 15% non-refundable tax credit for "eligible" renovation expenditures made to your home or vacation property. The credit applies to any amounts spent over $1,000, up to a maximum of $10,000, producing a maximum credit of $1,350....

Funny stuff from NP's Full Comment

Kelly McParland has published some rude comments he gets, and he gets them even on articles that he has not authored. If they appear in Full Comment, everyone presumes they are his. Over and besides, I am directing you there, for another reason. You will know what, when you get there.

Also, I found this comment pretty funny and am wondering if Finn is actually Marx who keeps placing comments all over the BT blogs, or maybe not. Marx does not hate the Chinese, but this goes to prove that there are lefties like Marx all over.

Another page from the book I am reading

Come on, try guessing who the author happens to be?  Okay, I will drop some hints. He is a well-known personality and very passionate about what he does. He is sort of a comedian too as he can make us Conservatives laugh but the Left absolutely hates him. Who is he???

I'm not trying to say that home ownership is a horrible idea. It works for many people but the perception that owning is always the best option for everyone is simply a relic from the past. It was created when our grandparents lived in the same town for 50 years, worked at the same job for 30 years, and stayed married for longer than six months.

These days over 20 million Americans change jobs every year and the typical worker changes jobs about ten times before age 40.We move from town to town state to state and increasingly from country to country. Estimates show that the average person now moves about 12 times in his or her life. Unless you're planning on living to 360 years old, how does a 30-year mortgage fit into that lifestyle?

Given how much we all move around, buying a home with a 30-year mortgage is akin to buying a new car with a five-year loan and selling it after 10 months, only to buy another car with another five year loan. Of course, the difference is that we expect auto values to constantly fall, unlike home values, which we expect to constantly rise. Just one of the Lehman Bothers how infallible that plan is.

The truth is that a home may be where the heart is, but it's also where the rest of your body is stuck. Owning a home can put you in a position where the local economy dictates your personal economy. For example, think about "Allentown", Not the real Allentown in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, that has had almost exactly the same unemploymnet as the rest of the country for the last 20 years. I mean, Billy Joel's "Allentown", that miserable place where they've taken all the coal from the ground, and all the union people crawled awaaaaaayaaaayaaaayaaay. You see, when you're living there in Allentown, and they're closing all the factories down, the appropriate response is not to start killing, filling out forms, and standing in line. Instead, it's a much better idea to pack up and move to Orlando. Or some other place where jobs are available.

But, when you own a home that decision isn't really yours. It depends on convincing someone you don't know that the town you want to leave is a place they want to live. Then, they have to want it bad enough to buy your house at a price that doesn't put you tens of thousands of dollars in the hole.

Climategate and the crooked crooks

Very informative and detailed article on "climategate"
....The leaked e-mails did not surprise McKitrick He told me that scientists closely interacting with the IPCC had resorted to “playground bullying, intolerance of dissent.” People at the IPCC are “very insular, very defensive, they don’t like being criticized, and what I mean by that is, if a paper comes out that they disagree with, they’re less likely to grapple with the content [and instead] will attack.” Richard Lindzen, a professor of atmospheric sciences at Harvard and a long-time skeptic, says of the e-mails: “These are not ambiguous. They’re talking about suppressing other scientists. But there’s no surprise. Those of us who are in the field have seen this. The only surprise is that someone actually got hold and sorted these documents.”............

.........Yet the scandal has not led to serious policy reconsiderations or even significant stigmatization for many of the scientists and organizations implicated. Instead, even as fundamental suppositions about climate change were being challenged, the Environmental Protection Agency took initial steps to implement the most extensive carbon-emissions regulations the United States has ever seen. And only a few weeks afterward, the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference, with 192 countries in attendance, began without meaningfully addressing the Climategate e-mails..........

Can Palin punch or what!!

Why do people think that she will fail in her bid for the Presidency, IF she ever decides to run, is a never- ending mystery to me.  She is what the doctor has prescribed for the ailing  USA.

While I don’t wish to speak too harshly about President Obama’s state of the union address, we live in challenging times that call for candor. I call them as I see them, and I hope my frank assessment will be taken as an honest effort to move this conversation forward.

Last night, the president spoke of the “credibility gap” between the public’s expectations of their leaders and what those leaders actually deliver. “Credibility gap” is a good way to describe the chasm between rhetoric and reality in the president’s address. The contradictions seemed endless.

He called for Democrats and Republicans to “work through our differences,” but last year he dismissed any notion of bipartisanship when he smugly told Republicans, “I won.”

He talked like a Washington “outsider,” but he runs Washington! He’s had everything any president could ask for – an overwhelming majority in Congress and a fawning press corps that feels tingles every time he speaks. There was nothing preventing him from pursuing “common sense” solutions all along. He didn’t pursue them because they weren’t his priorities, and he spent his speech blaming Republicans for the problems caused by his own policies...... read further

Of course, the progressive education movement doesn't like that. It's biased or unfair or something. I forget the actual claim. So they want to make education warmer, friendlier, happier. They believe the educational environment should be nuturing and comforting - not discouraging. That's why using red pens to correct tests is out (red is harsh!) and purple (ahh, soothing) is in.

Progressive education also attempts to "level the playing field," which, if I may translate from progressivian to common sense, means "lowering the standards."  In this feel-good, sunshine and lollipops world, everyone's work goes up on the walls because it's all sooooooo wonderful!  You see, it's not fair to judge a child's work because there are no wrong answers, only life experiences.

Progressive education began with the goal of providing a nurturing environmnet that aimed at kids' hearts rather than their heads. The movement's leader, John Dewey was a champion of education reform and believed the whole "teachers teach students facts" concept was so nineteenth century. He saw the role of the teacher as more of a coach and the role of the state as necessary to "bring about the improvements progressives sought."

What does that mean as far as how our kids are actually taught in the classroom?  Dewey didn't try to hide his beliefs:

"existing life is so complex that the child cannot be brought into contact with it without either confusion or distraction; he is either overwhelmed by a multiplicity of activities which are going on, so that he loses his own power of orderly reaction, or he is so stimulated by these various activities that his powers are permanently called into play and he becomes either unduly specialized or else disintegrated."

Hazing means "love and trust" ???

You can call it "hazing" .... I call it sadism.  Such practices should be totally banned.  This is just one of the ways  bullies act,  pretending to  follow traditions  and accepted norms of behaviour.

......"They told us there was no hazing, that they didn’t believe in it," she said Then the paddles came out. The pledges, clad in sweat pants, were instructed to wrap blue and gold tape around the wooden paddles, each a foot long and 6 inches wide, she said.

She was struck 19 times that night, she said. Four sorority members delivered the blows, the pledge said, while two others supervised. She said the group was told the beatings would "humble" them and would get them to rely upon one another.....

Veterans Today join Obama against Supreme Court decision

The US Supreme Court decision of doing away with limits on donations to political parties has warranted criticism from the most unlikely source. Who would have thought that veterans would be dead set against this decision. Veterans Today is a website that is run by 50 or so vets and their senior editor has posted a hard-hitting article calling for the arrest of 5 Supreme Court justices for treason.

I don't know about you, but I am with the vets and Obama on this one because I can see the influence of countries like Saudi Arabia and China making inroads into the US  government by throwing mountains of money at the candidates who will be best suited to be their puppets.

......Their ruling has made it legal for foreign controlled corporations to flush unlimited money into our bloated political system to further corrupt something none of us trust and most of us fear. The “corporation/person” that the 5 judges, the “neocon” purists, have turned the United States over to isn’t even American. Our corporations, especially since our economic meltdown are owned by China, Russia and the oil sheiks along with a few foreign banks. They don’t vote, pay taxes, fight in wars, need dental care, breathe air, drive cars or send children to school. Anyone who thinks these things are people is insane. Anyone who would sell our government to them is a criminal and belongs in prison. There is nothing in the Constitution that makes this “gang of five” bribe sucking clowns above the law. There is nothing in the Constitution that even mentions corporations much less gives them status equal to or greater than the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches of government.

The Supreme Court of the United States has no right to breathe human life into investment groups owned by terrorist sympathizers, foreign arms dealers or groups working for the downfall of the United States and everything we believe in, but 5 “justices” have done just that. We now have a new government above our government, above our people, one above any law. Five judges have created institutionalized gangsterism as the new form of government for the United States.......
Obama must be happy.
President Obama on Saturday promised to fight a Supreme Court decision easing limits on political donations by corporations and unions, saying he couldn't "think of anything more devastating to the public interest."

In its 5-4 decision this week, the high court overturned two decisions and threw out parts of a 63-year-old law that said companies and unions can be prohibited from using their own money to produce and run campaign ads that urge the election or defeat of particular candidates by name.

The case involved a film by conservative group Citizens United, which criticized then-presidential candidate Hillary Clinton during the 2008 Democratic presidential primary campaign. Supporters called the decision a big win for free speech. But in his weekly radio and Internet message Obama said it was unacceptable.........

Say "sorry" and all is forgiven

Nothing and nobody can stop the UK from rushing headlong towards the black hole of nothingness. via: Religion of Peace comes this precious little tale about a cute little darling of just 13 years who repented for his sins by saying "sorry". It's enough to make one feel nice and fuzzy buzzy with the whole wide world.

A boy of 13 who overpowered a woman then raped her in front of his two friends will spend just three years locked away for his crimes.

Balal Khan - thought to be one of the youngest convicted rapists in Britain - targeted the 20-year-old as she walked home.

He subjected her to a severe beating then screamed at her 'Do what I say or I'll kill you', before putting her through the ordeal of a terrifying sex attack.

Then he stole her bag and phone and even took a call from his victim's boyfriend to whom he bragged about what he had done.

But after pleading guilty to charges of rape and robbery the teenager was sentenced to just three years because of his age - and because he said ‘sorry’...........

I like Liberal MP Gerry Byrne

This is the way to win hearts and minds of people who think that activists, especially PETA, are becoming violent and unstable. A Lib.MP has said what I would have expected to come from Conservative MPs. Why the silence guys? Did you  all have a laugh at Ms.Shea's pieing ?  Or is the MSM only telling us about a Lib MP and refraining to tell us what Conservative MPs are saying about the reaction to this shameful incident?

Anyway, Thank you Mr.Byrne for your very sensible approach to this incident.

A Liberal MP says he believes the federal government should investigate whether the pieing of Fisheries Minister Gail Shea by a woman opposed to the seal hunt constitutes an act of terrorism.

Shea was delivering a speech Monday at the Canada Centre for Inland Waters in Burlington, Ont., when a woman stood up and pushed a tofu cream pie squarely into the minister's face.

The animal-rights group PETA later took responsibility for the incident. It said in a release that it was part of its campaign "to stop the government's ill-advised sanction of the slaughter of seals."

MP Gerry Byrne says he thinks what happened should be reviewed under the legal definition of terrorism. ....

Obey the rule of Zakat all ye Muslims....

or else no virgins for you. AH HAH!! Now we know why the Muslim countries have not donated to Haiti or if they have, it is so minimal that it  is almost insignificant. I believe Mohammad Ali, of the boxing arena fame, implored people of his adopted religion to give Zakat which I presume means a "donation" in our "inferior" language. However, according to their book they are not supposed to :

One can reference “Reliance of the Traveler: A Classic Manual of Islamic Sacred Law” for confirmation of this. This passage is from Book H “Zakat” on page 274:

h8.24 It is not permissible to give zakat to a non-Muslim

In encouraging others to give to charity to help those in need in Haiti, Ali was doing good work perhaps. But zakat is actually quite different from what we in the West understand charity to be. Most importantly, zakat donations cannot go to non-Muslims. If a Muslim wishes to help the overwhelming majority of the Haitian quake victims, they will have to do so outside of the system of zakat, despite what Ali says......

Forty years of feminism ... work well done

to corrupt, deprave and dumb down society. A number of these feminists like Gloria Steinem were in the pay of the CIA to disrupt and distract society with the nuisance they spurt forth endlessly,  molding and corrupting the minds of  the young. To perform a complete turn around from this distructive trend that these feminists have sown, we have to be more outspoken and voices like Pam Geller's are well equipped to do just that. Feminism was respected at one time. Feminism brought equality between men and women and gave women the right to vote in the USA and in Canada and in other democracies. Now, most thinking women look on the present day feminism as prostitution and nothing more.

A new documentary, Oral Sex Is the New Goodnight Kiss, chronicles America's moral decay. Sharlene Azam, a Canadian filmmaker, says, "If you talk to teens [about oral sex], they'll tell you it's not a big deal. In fact, they don't consider it sex. They don't consider a lot of things sex." In the documentary, teenage girls talk casually about their sexual experiences and even their forays into prostitution.

One girl sums up the new attitudes: "Five minutes and I got $100. If I'm going to sleep with them anyway because they're good-looking, might as well get paid for it, right?"

Azam said that this was going on in good homes right under parents' noses: "The prettiest girls from the most successful families [are the most at risk]. We're not talking about marginalized girls. [Parents] don't want to know because they really don't know what to do. I mean, you might be prepared to learn that, at age 12, your daughter has had sex, but what are you supposed to do when your daughter has traded her virginity for $1,000 or a new bag?" ...........

How to erase the deficit in four years ... according to Andrew Coyne

Andrew Coyne has done a lot of homework with this piece in Macleans. My head started reeling trying to grasp how Coyne would have the Harper govt underspend and then overspend or perhaps it is first overspend and then control the spending or maybe it's first let the stimulus work a bit and then keep a steady increase or maybe it is stop spending so much altogether so we can erase the deficit by 2014 or maybe ... anyway I am sure all you math wizards will understand exactly what he means and how he thinks it should be done. I gave up after the first few paragraphs, I am not ashamed to say.

....Suppose we were to try to erase the deficit in four years, that is by fiscal 2014. The timetable seems reasonable, as that is the period over which the Parliamentary Budget Officer reckons the cyclical component of the deficit would have been retired by economic growth, leaving only the structural component, which he estimates at $19-billion. So to wipe that out without raising taxes, the government would need to cut about $20-billion out of spending — not from this year’s projected total of $273-billion, but from spending in 2014, projected to be $296-billion. (Where did I get that number from? See page 22 of the September fiscal update, where the government’s five-year spending track is laid out.)

For simplicity’s sake, assume there is nothing we can do about the government’s biggest single spending program, interest payments on the debt — forecast to explode from just under $31-billion this year to $42-billion in 2014. So that means we have to cut $20-billion out of $254-billion in program spending. The $234-billion target that implies is $8-billion less than we’re on track to spend this year. Sounds tough. But this year’s figure is inflated by the enormous surge in one-time spending rushed out the door in the name of stimulating the economy. A better comparison would be with last year’s total of $208-billion. The 12.5% increase in spending this implies between 2009 and 2014 is just slightly more than the combined increase in prices (6.1%) and population (5.3%) projected over the same period....

Aung San Suu Kyi to be freed in November

Let's hope this is not another promise which will not be kept by Burma's military overlords. Mass murderers are able to get away but an innocent woman has been made to live within the four walls of her house for close to 15 years.

Burma's military government may be planning to release pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi later this year, say reports from the country.

Burma's home minister reportedly said Ms Suu Kyi would be freed when her current period of house arrest expires, which is scheduled for November. Ms Suu Kyi's detention was extended last year, after a US man visited her house uninvited. Critics say the junta intends to detain her until after elections this year. Home Minister Maung Oo is reported to have made the comments about Ms Suu Kyi at a provincial town meeting four days ago.
