Joy Smith almost gave up on her bill for stricter sentences for human traffickers after her husband’s devastating cancer diagnoses.
But the Conservative MP’s family, especially her RCMP officer son, Edward, encouraged her to keep up the fight. His work in that area was Ms. Smith’s inspiration for her private members’ bill.
Even before she was elected to her Winnipeg-area riding in 2004, she had volunteered, working with trafficking victims. She had been disturbed and moved by their stories.
“It had become a family affair to try to get it through,” she recalled in a recent interview.
In July her bill, giving mandatory minimum prison sentences of five to six years for human traffickers, became law.
And to build on that, Public Safety Minister Vic Toews announced Tuesday morning a partnership with Crime Stoppers as part of a campaign – the Blue Blindfold campaign – aimed at reporting and raising awareness about human trafficking.............

Okay .... Now we all know who should get the blame when things go BOOM .....
and by "BOOM" I definitely don't mean the economy. The NDP and the Labor Unions of Canada should be hiding their faces in shame after the G20 riots, which riots clearly happened because of these two entities, but will they ever learn from their past mistakes? No sirreeee!!! Will never happen. Instead their voices get louder and more strident. Shameless morons.
The NDP's public safety critic said the government's focus on the issue is misguided without proof it actually is a case of human smuggling..
"If you really believe in being serious about Canada's obligations to take in refugees, this is what it looks like," said Don Davies.
"Don't run around making allegations of human smuggling and terrorists before there is any evidence of that."
Davies said what is being framed as a public safety issue is really a discussion about immigration policy and how Canada reaches out to refugees.
"If we don't want that system where people just try to make their way to Canada out of desperation, then maybe we should be stepping up our efforts in refugee camps," he said.......

Yesterday, I wrote about how Abdul-Haq Ingar, a big honcho at UM Financial has his fingers deep into the pie when any gay or lesbian Liberal candidate(s) are running for office or already cocooned in the Parliament of Canada. Hey... he will even back those Conservative candidates who are foolish enough to go along with his taqiyya like John Tory of Toronto during his disastrous bid for mayor. Why does he do that knowing he will get a backlash from his community? Therein lies the mystery and the deception of those who practice taqiyya. His actions and the actions of Omar Kalair the Founder and CEO of UM Financial are extremely questionable, to say the least.

Several people on his staff are learning about business plans, legal structures, accounting methods, types of governance and other issues related to Islamic finance.
"It's fairly new to us," he said. "There's not a whole lot of experience here in terms of supervising or even understanding the different types of products. They all have little twists on them that make them very unlike anything we've ever seen before." .....
.....Credit unions, such as the McMaster Savings and Credit Union in Hamilton, are starting to offer sharia-compliant mortgages, which tend to be structured like a rent-to-own system to avoid interest......

By the way, if you were intrigued with the sharia related products that I have been saying almost all Canadian banks are offering and tried to look into them and went to the websites of the banks you deal with and did a search and got this or this then know that you are not alone.
Questions: Why are the banks not showing their sharia products on their websites? We know they are offering such products so why hide the fact? Are they afraid we will take our business elsewhere?

Did the Dept of Finance and the Bank of Canada give their blessing for the iFreedom Muslim Master Card? And if so, WHY ?

Preliminary estimates for 2009 point to a figure close to 1 Million representing close to 3% of Canada's population. Israeli-Palestinian Peace Talks or Terrorists' killing sprees ?
The thing about this slaughter that really got to me was this:
ZAKA volunteer Momy Ben-Haim was dispatched to the scene of the terrorist attack with his colleagues, where to his horror he discovered his wife's body among the dead..
"We saw a crying volunteer, and at first we did not understand what was happening - he has seen many disasters before," Zaka volunteer Isaac Bernstein told The Jerusalem Post.
"Then he started shouting, 'That's my wife! That's my wife!' We took him away from the scene immediately," Bernstein added.

Oh lookee here!! The totally useless 1 Billion+ elephant on the Canadian media highway, is a vampire. We all knew that, but now it has been confirmed and all Canadians should be made aware of that fact. Horror of horrors, could it be that behind those words and phrases, like we always suspected, there are no "sources" at all.... that the CBC cooks up whatever they want to say and imply while all the time quoting "unnamed sources" for their lies and deceit which they use to malign people they happen not to like.... i.e. not leftish like themselves.
We the people of Canada want accountability from the CBC who suck us out of 1 Billion Dollars+ annually. If they want to keep their secrets, fine...... then let them do so on their own dime. The Canadian govt should bring into existence a brand new Crown Corporation to replace this deceitful media station. We have had enough of the lies and the topsy-turvy, upside-down worldview of the CBC that they push into our houses. Enough is enough !!!

The CBC will square off against the information commissioner, an independent officer of Parliament, in a Montreal courtroom on Sept. 13. After hearing from a number of sources, including Sun Media, about problems with CBC’s response to access to information requests, the commissioner subpoenaed a number of files. The CBC refused.
It’s not the first run in between the state broadcaster and the Access to Information Act. The CBC became subject to the act in 2007, since then close to 900 complaints have been filed. While some of those cases were resolved and a small number were found to be without merit, as of June the information commissioner had 498 active complaints against CBC. By comparison Canada Post, the organization to receive the second highest level of complaints, only had 116 complaints filed total.
In the case before the court on Sept. 13, the CBC is arguing that to release the information would jeopardize the Crown corporation’s “journalistic, creative or programming activities.”
Two days later on Sept. 15, the CBC will be in court again to keep more information secret.....

I got this feeling yesterday .....
that things are improving, economy-wise. Before yesterday, I was sort of not a true believer in the Canadian job numbers. For me, the indicators to look for are when employment ads from headhunters are looking for more "recruiters" that means there is business coming through the door, be it for casual workers, temps or what-have-you..... it's coming... and the headhunters are getting themselves ready expecting it to only improve from now on. I saw those type of ads yesterday at some of the online job seekers sites that I visited after more than six months. Six months ago the story was bleak.... not anymore.
Just like the good news viz the economy, there's the other BIG good news about the Left going down in flames. Have you noticed how totally irrational and close to self combustion the lefties have got lately? No matter how dense they are about other things, (and they are, you know that) I think they can see the writing on the wall in clear cut bold lettering that even the most myopic amongst them (and there are many) have no trouble reading.
One can also feel uplifted by reading this. Thanks Mr. Galganov.

We desperately need to change some criminal laws in Canada ....
just talking about changing them is not enough. Canada is a beacon for the dregs of society because they know our laws are laughable, so laughable that they can be taken advantage of without feeling the slightest bit of apprehension. Agents arrested each man on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance with intent to distribute it; they're identified as Saajid Ali, 18, Khoa Mach, 20, Zaman Pasha, 20, Brian Tran, 20, all of Surrey, B.C., and Pritpal Singh, 23, and Balraj Singh, 22, of Bellingham.
The arrests are the latest in a series related to opium-poppy smuggling that spans two counties and the international border........

What can you say about a President that gives the reins to the UN to investigate Arizona's laws and it's officials ?
There is no doubt about it. President Barack Hussein Obama is the very worst president the USA has been cursed with. I feel sorry for the Americans that they got saddled with this conman. This person who hates his country (that's because, it's likely not his country) and hates the country's Constitution.

The report boasts of racial- and gender-bean-counting in the executive branch; Justice Department outreach to Muslim grievance groups opposed to post-9/11 security measures; teachers’ union payoffs in the federal stimulus law; continuing commitment to closing the Gitmo detention facility for enemy combatants; and the illusory lifesaving effects of Obamacare on minorities through “expanding community health centers” (which have yet to be built, but not that it matters in our Nobel Peace Prize-winning president’s age of post-achievement).
The report also includes a section on “values and immigration,” which essentially singles out Arizona’s immigration enforcement law as a human rights deficiency “that is being addressed in a court action.”.....

What Canadian Muslims of calibre say about the Ground Zero mosque
Yes.... it's true. Canada has some very strong and intelligent voices from the Muslim community who speak out bravely, and for which, they are maligned by the Sunni Muslim community as "Uncle Toms" and "nutcases" that don't speak for them. There's Salim Mansur, Tarek Fatah and Irshad Manji ... all pretty well known to many Canadians. There are also others who work just as diligently to safeguard Canadian values but keep a low profile most of the time, like Homa Arjomand and Raheel Raza. Here's what some of these brave Muslims have said lately on the GZ mosque initiative.
....In generating this controversy, and then pushing hard on it by insisting on the constitutionally protected right of freedom of religion to build this mosque in the vicinity of Ground Zero in New York City, Islamists behind the project have masterfully succeeded in greatly dividing Americans as the ninth anniversary of 9/11 approaches.
What we are witnessing here is radical Islamists once again, as in the Danish cartoon controversy — or the controversy surrounding the wearing by some Muslim women of niqabs or full-face coverings, or the push for censorship on grounds of hate speech — taking hold of the legal-political framework of liberal democracy to secure grounds for their anti-liberal agenda of advancing acceptance of Sharia in the West....
....The Koran commands Muslims to, "Be considerate when you debate with the People of the Book" -- i.e., Jews and Christians. Do they not understand that building a mosque at Ground Zero is equivalent to permitting a Serbian Orthodox church near the killing fields of Srebrenica where 8,000 Muslim men and boys were slaughtered?

Ottawa has received its first applications to start up Canadian banks operating within the strictures of Islamic religious law - financial institutions that, if approved, would be among the first in the West.
Canada's bank regulator, the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, is studying two proposals for banks that offer services in keeping with Islamic laws that forbid speculation and interest but are in favour of transactions where profit and loss is shared.
The applications came to light in government documents obtained by The Globe and Mail under access to information laws, files that show Ottawa believes there are four other possible applicants keen to start banks operating under Islamic religious law, or sharia.
While some banks in the West offer sharia-compliant products, few aside from the Islamic Bank of Britain are standalone institutions set up expressly for this purpose.....

Harper hatched his scheme in a secret lunch last year with media-mogul Rupert Murdoch, the owner of Fox News. Harper's top aide Kory Teneycke also came to the lunch, and then left the government to head up Suncor Newspapers and the new "Fox News North".
Fox News fuels hate. While constantly claiming to be “fair” and “balanced”, it allows hysterical anchors like Glenn Beck to compare Obama to "Lucifer" and "Hitler". Bill O’Reilly, another anchor, has threatened to boycott Canada, and Anne Coulter says Canada is “lucky the US allows it to exist on the same continent.” The network has calculatingly spawned the tea party movement in the US, a mobilisation of the fringe right which threatens violence upon its opponents and wears guns to political rallies.
This is a fight for the soul of Canadian democracy. Our media is not perfect, but a ‘news’ network that slavishly serves a political agenda through mass manipulation and fear threatens the fabric of our democratic society.
The CRTC is part of our democracy -- it was made an independent commission precisely in order to protect against this kind of government manipulation of the media. Harper knows that he must bully his way through this institution in order to create "Fox News North".
