Five Olympic committees admit they got terrorist threats

The five so far are: Italy, Hungary, Germany, Slovenia and Slovakia

From Reuters via CBC:
....Security was tight in Sochi on Wednesday as letters in Russian making a "terrorist threat" ahead of the Sochi Games were sent to Olympic committees of at least five countries.

There was heavy police presence in various parts of the city and especially in the Olympic village.
Despite the assurances, the letters to committees in Italy, Hungary, Germany, Slovenia and Slovakia briefly caused alarm and underlined nervousness over security at the $50-billion event on which Russian President Vladimir Putin's legacy may depend.......

...On Tuesday, police mugshots of a suspected female suicide bomber appeared in Sochi....

...Security forces are searching for a woman named Ruzanna Ibragimova, 23, who they suspect may be planning a suicide attack. She may have arrived in the Olympic host city on Jan. 11-12, a letter seen by Reuters said....

.....Russia has also been discussing its security operation with the United States, and Putin, who has played a big role in winning and organizing the Games, spoke about security at Sochi with U.S. President Barack Obama by telephone on Tuesday.
Even so, Moscow has failed to dampen concern that it will be able to guarantee visitors' and competitors' safety, despite the most elaborate security preparations for an Olympics.
But analysts agree that carrying out an attack in the Sochi area could be exceptionally difficult, but some fear provincial cities, or even Moscow, might be more vulnerable.
