Wow..... our fighter jets were ready in a jiffy

We are efficiency itself in every which way. Cathay Pacific flight to Canada reported a security threat and our fighters dashed without losing any time to escort the flight to a safe landing in Vancouver.
Canadian fighter jets escorted a Cathay Pacific airliner incoming from Hong Kong to a safe landing in Vancouver International Airport on Saturday due to a potential unspecified security threat, a North American Aerospace Defense Command spokesperson said.

The Canadian Press news agency cited Canadian Defense department officials as saying there was a bomb threat aboard the plane, which originated in Hong Kong, but they could not provide details....... more here

  1. If the bomb was on board who was the idiot who scrambled the fighters. Were the pilots going to jump aboard or were their planes going to be blown out of the sky when the airliner blew up.

Surely airsea rescue helicopters were the right response. You know just in case.

PS This is from the HK side

Just imagine if this is an actual test of Canadian response. All the late news here showed were interviews with sikhs and muzzies. The only white guy was a Brit.

  2. Pissedoff - actually, the fighter jets are brought into action in such scenarios just in case the plane has fallen into enemy hands and the enemy has plans to use it as a weapon like 9/11.
Wouldn't it be better that the jets blow up the passenger plane with 300-400 people on board, before it hits a crowded stadium or city and kills 1000s ? It's all about how many people you can save rather than how many are killed. The bigger number to save is always a winner with the good guys and vice versa with the evil doers.

  3. Maria all reports are the bomb was on board the A340 not that it had been hijacked to use as a bomb. I know what you are saying but that was never the scenario, including accounts I have read accounts from Canada.
