Massacre at Minab: The School That Became a Grave
The bombing of an Iranian school, killing 120 children, is one of the worst U.S. war crimes since Vietnam. Drop Site spoke to survivors, first responders, parents, and witnesses. This is their story.

On the morning of Saturday, February 28, people across Iran began their day like any other. It was one week into the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, and people were preparing for their work and school week. Parents hustled their children out the door for school as the notorious morning traffic jams filled the streets of Tehran and other cities.
In the southern Iranian city of Minab, preschool teacher Hossniyeh Salem was getting ready to leave the house. “Like any other day, I got my child ready at 7 o’clock—because my son is in fifth grade and attended the same school,” she recalled. “I got Yassin ready and headed to school. Yassin went to the boys’ school and I stayed at preschool, in my own class.”
It was Salem’s seventh year as a teacher at Shajareh Tayyebeh, a well-respected, private school. “The upper floor was for girls and the downstairs was for boys. One section was for preschool. You can say there were three schools there. The preschool was in the same building,” she said. “There were students there from all walks of life—children from working class families, educators. We had all kinds of students there.”
Among the students at the school was 6-year-old Fatemeh Yazdanpanah from the fishing village of Gurzang, about eight miles from Minab. The village is well known for its daily fish market—a bustling, strategic hub where fishermen trade their catches from both the Minab River and the Persian Gulf. There is a girls’ school in Gurzang, but Fatemeh’s father, Yaghoub Yazdanpanah, saw gifts for poetry in his daughter and he wanted to secure for her the best education he could find..............

Twenty-fifth session of the Assembly of States Parties to be held in The Hague

The Bureau of the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (the “Bureau”) decided on 28 September 2026 that the twenty-fifth session of the Assembly, originally scheduled to take place at United Nations Headquarters in New York, will be relocated to The Hague from 30 November to 7 December 2026 (inclusive), with Saturday, 5 December and Sunday, 6 December as working days.
The decision was taken in light of concerns related to limitations on participation arising from the venue of the session. These include elected officials of the Court subject to United States sanctions, as well as visa restrictions affecting some delegations and representatives of non-governmental organizations. The decision to relocate the Assembly session was taken following consultations with all States Parties.
The Assembly has previously recognized the importance of enhancing the security of participants in its work, including all States Parties representatives, officials of the Court as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations participating in Assembly sessions.
The President of the Assembly, Ms. Päivi Kaukoranta, emphasized that the decision to relocate the twenty-fifth session was taken in light of the specific circumstances prevailing in 2026 and does not establish a precedent for determining the venue of future sessions of the Assembly.

Every year the US provides Israel with billions of dollars, vast quantities of military equipment, weapons and ammunition (‘at least $US22.76 billion and counting’) and surveillance and intelligence information.
It then uses its veto on the UN Security Council to block demands for united UN intervention, or even for a ceasefire in Gaza, it supports Israel in the UN and in the International Court of Justice, and it sanctions the UN Special Rapporteur, Francesca Albanese, and the International Criminal Court members who issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant on charges of war crimes.
Our closest ally’s provision of diplomatic cover for and continuous flow of money and arms to Israel has permitted Israel to act with impunity for its untrammelled barbarity.
Those actions ensure that our ally is not just complicit but actively participating in egregious criminal conduct including the indiscriminate slaughter, maiming and starvation of countless women and children. Now it has even resorted to suspending visas for Palestinian passport holders, including for Palestinian officials set to attend the annual U.N. General Assembly in New York this month.
When the Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese, was asked about President Trump’s plans to “take over Gaza” he said he would not be offering a “running commentary” on President Trump’s remarks.
Yet documents obtained exclusively under Freedom of Information laws by Declassified Australia reveal that a confidential “running commentary” was indeed being provided to the Prime Minister internally from within the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFAT)...................
