Heavy fighting at Donetsk airport


Several reports on Twitter indicate that the Ukrainian military has launched an all out operation against separatists in the Donetsk region, starting with the retaking of the airport.  
And, several more reports seem to indicate that the airport is back in separatists hands.

Ukrainian troops have launched air attacks to regain handle of Donetsk airport from pro-Russia rebels.
A fierce gun battle ensued, and smoke can be seen increasing from the location.
The fighting comes as the man tipped to turn into Ukraine’s new President, Petro Poroshenko, stated he wanted to speak to Russia to end the crisis.

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated Moscow was “open to dialogue” with Mr Poroshenko but military action against separatists need to end.
Mr Poroshenko stated he hoped to meet Russian leaders early next month, soon after a trip to Poland exactly where he will meet the US president and EU leaders.
Nonetheless, he warned he would take a hard line on armed militiamen.
Petro Poroshenko: “Without Russia it would be a lot significantly less powerful or practically impossible to speak about the security in the entire region”
He said: “Their purpose is to turn Donbass [east Ukraine] into Somalia. I will not let any individual do this to our state and I hope that Russia will assistance my method.”...................

“The people’s army has the airport in Donetsk back under control. We are rooting out the remaining Kiev’s remaining troops. Airstrikes have stopped for now,” said the tweet from the self-proclaimed People’s Republic of Donetsk.

Earlier, RT’s Maria Finoshina reported from Donetsk that Ukrainian fighter jets and helicopters were again unleashed at the armed self-defense occupying the airport. The second stage of Kiev's "counter-terror operation" came amid reported negotiations between rebels and the Ukrainian forces at the scene.........
