181) Police are looking for: On Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at approximately 4 p.m., police responded to a shooting in the Finch Avenue West/Ardwick Boulevard area.
It is alleged that:
− a firearm was discharged; no injuries were sustained
The suspect has been identified as Abshir Olow, 23, of Toronto. He is wanted in relation to this and several drug−related offences.
182) It is reported that:− on Monday, April 30, 2012, a woman riding the subway in the Downsview Subway Station area was sexually assaulted by a man.
On Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at approximately 5:45 p.m., Adilahmed Shaikh, 29, of Toronto, was arrested.
183) SNC-Lavalin’s board did order an internal review. In February, executive vice-president Riadh Ben Aissa and vice-president controller Stephane Roy resigned. The company said their departure was related to the company’s "code of conduct" — something Ben Aissa has disputed.
The company released the results of its audits in March, saying it had found that Ben Aissa participated in $56 million in improper payments to undisclosed agents, with the secret — albeit unauthorized — green light from then CEO Pierre Duhaime. Duhaime was forced to retire in March.
The company said it would contact the RCMP, then in mid-April the Mounties searched SNC-Lavalin’s Montreal headquarters at the request of Swiss investigators.
184) Ayub ALI (18 years of age) and Daud MOHAMED (25 years of age) of Grande Prairie will be in Grande Prairie Provincial Court today, each facing 11 Criminal Code charges. Charges include:
5 Counts – Robbery with a Firearm 2 Counts – Kidnapping 1 Count - Forcible Confinement 2 Counts – Commit Indictable Offence with Firearm 1 Count - Possess Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
On Friday April 27th just before 8:00 p.m., Grande Prairie RCMP arrested the two men after they had allegedly attended a south east residence earlier in the day, produced a firearm and took a number of items. No one was injured in the incident, and the co-accused left the location in a vehicle.
185) On Monday, May 7, 2012, 10 a.m., police responded to an unknown trouble call in at a home in the Finch Avenue West/Humber College Boulevard area.
It is alleged that:
− the accused approached a 44−year−old man while he was in his bedroom and began stabbing him in the face and stomach,
− the accused left the victim's room and located a second victim, a 62−year−old man in another part of the home and began stabbing him about the head,− the victims escaped from the home and called police
The accused was located a short distance away and was arrested, while the two victims were sent to hospital with non life−threatening injuries.

− between August 2010 and April 2012, the accused assaulted and forced a woman into prostitution.

He is described as black, 6’5", 275 lbs., brown eyes and black hair, possibly in dreadlocks.
He is associated to the following vehicle: − a 2008 black Range Rover with an Ontario licence plate BJHX−810 He is considered dangerous. Police believe there may be more victims
187) ...Ridwan RACHID, age 18 of Ottawa, and two young males, ages 16 and 17, are charged with robbery, possessing a weapon to commit an offence and conspiracy. The 16 -year-old male is additionally charged with three counts of breach of recognizance and one count of breach of a Youth Criminal Justice Act sentence. Rachid is to appear in court on May 31. ....
188) A North Vancouver man has been found guilty of first-degree murder for killing a fellow drug dealer with an axe after kidnapping him.
B.C. Supreme Court Justice Barry Davies convicted Babak Najafi-Chaghabouri, 30, of first-degree murder for killing Ronak “Ronny” Wagad at a remote site near the Fraser River on Feb. 23, 2009.Davies found a second man accused in the killing — Charles Anthony Leslie, 34, — guilty of second-degree murder.The verdict follows a lengthy trial in which both men pointed to the other as responsible for the gruesome killing — described by Davies as “cut-throat defences.”
Davies ruled both men were ultimately responsible for Wagad’s death, but Najafi-Chaghabouri was the one who wielded the hatchet for the fatal blows.
189) Police have arrested a man for the October 2011 shooting death of a 28-year-old man outside the Lincoln Motor Hotel.
Mohamed Ali Omar died Oct. 30 after he was shot in the hotel parking lot at McPhillips Street and Mountain Avenue.Omar was a hospital cleaner and a father of four who police say had links to the African Mafia street gang -- though his family told the Free Press they didn't consider him gang-affiliated.
Sgt. Ross Read of the homicide unit said police arrested Abdul Bangura, 26, near Louelda Avenue and Antrim Street Tuesday afternoon. Bangura is charged with second-degree murder in Omar's death and attempted murder for injuries a 17-year-old youth suffered in the shooting.
190) A Canadian has been sentenced to 10 years in prison while his co-accused, an Algerian man, has been acquitted after a Barrie man was beaten to death in the Dominican Republic last year, according to multiple published reports.
Jordan Morrison, a 19-year-old resident of Barrie, Ont., was killed outside a resort nightclub in Punta Cana on Feb. 4, 2011. Witnesses have said Morrison was attacked after he had come to the aid of a woman in a bar who was spit on.
