US Forces Destroy Small ‘Venezuelan’ Boat Allegedly Carrying Drugs—11 Killed
Caracas (OrinocoTribune.com)—President Donald Trump claimed Tuesday that US troops deployed to the Caribbean attacked and destroyed a “drug ship” that had left Venezuela.
“Just a few minutes ago, literally, we shot down a vessel that was carrying drugs, a large amount of drugs. You’ll see it and read about it. It just happened moments ago,” the US president said at a press conference in the Oval Office.
He said he had just been briefed on the matter by the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Daniel “Razin” Caine. “We have a lot of drugs coming into our country, coming in for a long time, and they just came out of Venezuela… A lot of things are coming out of Venezuela, so we got rid of them,” Trump said.,,............
.......The US official account has been met with skepticism from analysts and media. A low-quality video released by the US Defense Department shows a small boat at high speed before being struck and set ablaze. Some social media users and analysts questioned the operation’s veracity, noting the boat’s small size and suggesting it could only carry a minuscule amount of drugs compared to the US demand for narcotics.
In a social media post, Venezuelan news outlet Venezuelanalysis speculated on how US SOUTHCOM knew the small boat was carrying drugs without carrying out an inspection. The editor of Orinoco Tribune, when consulted, questioned how US forces could have known that any narcotics on board (if there were any) were the property of the Tren de Aragua gang; how they could have been certain that the boat was heading to the US, hundreds of miles away; and how a country can strike boats at sea without judicial procedure. “There is certainly a breach of international law,” he added, while noting that a detailed inspection of the video footage only shows at most seven people aboard of the boat.
Tren de Aragua is a virtually defunct Venezuelan criminal gang infamous for extortion, kidnapping, and human trafficking. Drug trafficking was never a strength of this criminal organization, although it may have carried out narcotics deals on a small scale.................

The Great Hoax Against Venezuela: Oil Geopolitics Disguised as ‘War on Drugs’
During my time as head of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), I frequently travelled to Colombia, Bolivia, Peru and Brazil, but never to Venezuela. There was simply no need.
The Venezuelan government’s collaboration in the fight against drug trafficking was among the best in South America, rivalled only by Cuba’s impeccable record. This makes Trump’s narrative of a “narco-state” in Venezuela sound like geopolitically motivated slander.
The 2025 World Drug Report tells a story that is the opposite of the narrative peddled by the Trump administration. Piece by piece, the report dismantles the geopolitical lie built around the “Cartel de los Soles”, an entity as mythical as the Loch Ness Monster, but which is useful for justifying sanctions, blockades and threats of military intervention against a country which, incidentally, sits on one of the planet’s largest oil reserves.
Venezuela: A marginal country in the global drug trade
The 2025 UNODC report is crystal clear and should embarrass those who have demonized Venezuela through rhetoric. The report only briefly mentions Venezuela, stating that a small amount of Colombian drug production passes through the country en route to the United States and Europe. According to the UN, Venezuela has consolidated its status as a territory free from the cultivation of coca leaves, cannabis and similar crops, as well as from the presence of international criminal cartels.
This document merely confirms the findings of the previous 30 annual reports, which did not address Venezuelan drug trafficking because it does not exist. Only 5% of Colombian drugs transit through Venezuela. For context, in 2018, while 210 tons of cocaine passed through Venezuela, Colombia produced or traded as much as 2,370 tons—ten times more—and Guatemala produced or traded 1,400 tons.
Yes, you read that right. Guatemala is a drug corridor seven times more important than the Bolivarian “narco-state” allegedly is. However, no one talks about this because Guatemala has historically accounted for only a tiny share of the global total—0.01%—of the one drug that interests Trump: oil.................

The Voice of Hind Rajab gets record 23-minute ovation at Venice premiere
The docu-drama, which recounts the final plea of a six-year-old Gaza girl, receives the longest standing ovation in the festival’s history.
With tears and chants of “Free, Free Palestine” and the waving of Palestinian flags, the true-life drama, The Voice of Hind Rajab, recounting the final plea of a six-year-old Gaza girl who was brutally killed by the Israeli forces in Gaza City last year, received a more than 23-minute standing ovation at its premiere at the iconic Venice Film Festival.

At Wednesday’s premiere, the emotional docu-drama focuses on recordings from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, which tried for hours to reassure six-year-old Rajab as she lay trapped in a car where her aunt, uncle and three cousins were killed by Israeli fire.
In original recordings taken from the attack on January 29, 2024, Rajab is heard sobbing and telling the Red Crescent Society, “Please come to me, please come. I’m scared”, while bullets were fired in the background.
After a three-hour wait, rescuers were allowed, by the Israeli military, to dispatch an ambulance to the car where Rajab spoke from. However, contact with the girl was cut off just after the ambulance arrived.......

Ex-Israeli intelligence chief said 50 Palestinians must die for every 7 October victim
‘It does not matter if they are children,’ said Aharon Haliva in recorded comments calling the death toll ‘necessary’
The Israeli general who headed military intelligence on 7 October 2023 has said 50 Palestinians must die for every person killed that day and “it does not matter now if they are children”, in recordings broadcast by Israel’s Channel 12 TV station.
Aharon Haliva said the toll in Gaza, which he put at more than 50,000 dead, was “necessary” as a “message to future generations” of Palestinians.
“They need a Nakba every now and then to feel the price,” he added, referring to the mass expulsion of more than 700,000 Palestinians from their homes and lands after the creation of Israel in 1948. Nakba means catastrophe in Arabic.
Much of Israel’s leadership and media has used genocidal rhetoric about Palestinians since Hamas’s 7 October attacks, including describing them as “human animals”, saying there are “no innocents” in Gaza and calling for Gaza’s total destruction and its ethnic cleansing.
However, Haliva’s description of a campaign of mass killing including children was an unusually direct description of collective punishment of civilians, which is illegal under international law................
