Big day for Scotland .... will it be "Yes" or "No" ?
Going by the polls, I think it will be a "No" .... but one can never tell. Even if it's a "No" the powers-that-be in London, from now on, will be extra careful in their dealings with Scotland to ensure that they are kept happy.... just like the Canadian govt. does here with Quebec.

"The Morning After".... the story of Quebec's failed attempt to come into its own
The upcoming referendum in Scotland is making many in Canada think of the time Quebec wanted to separate from Canada.
Nick Bryant writing at BBC:
Quebec has voted twice against independence, but the question has never been settled or gone away.
On a recent summer's evening, along streets lined with onlookers waving the blue and white Fleur-de-lis flag rather than the Canadian maple leaf, a parade was staged in Quebec City retelling the story of the settlement of New France........
.........However, although the province has the feel of a nation within a nation, voters here have twice decided against independence. In English-speaking North America, it thus remains an anomaly but not a country.
The first referendum in 1980 produced a lopsided result, with 59% voting to remain part of Canada and 40% voting to follow a secessionist path.
A second referendum in 1995 produced a photo-finish, 50%-49%, but the federalists still edged out the "sovereignists", as they are called here. The closeness of the result intensified the anguish of their defeat........
.......Sociological and demographic trends are also working against the separatists. For younger Quebecers, independence, it seems, is not a front-tier issue. A recent poll suggested 69% of 18-to-24-year-olds would vote "No".
More outward-looking as a generation than their parents and grandparents, many young Quebecers look upon themselves as global citizens, as well as Canadians and Quebecers. Their primary concerns are more everyday - getting decent jobs and buying their own homes..........

Will Scotland get independence from the UK dominance?
Polls suggest it could happen. It's a narrow lead, but the Scots might get the independence so many of them have been craving for so long. I am on the side of any part of any country that wants to break away from the "mother" country because the people of that part, in their majority, wish to decide their own future without bowing down to a government that does not have their interests at heart. So what if chunks of a whole are being broken off? All chunks need their freedom, both big and small.
When Canada's Quebec finally decides to separate, I will be one of those to cheer them on. Some separations are bloody, like we are seeing in the Ukraine and Nigeria and elsewhere.... but just like we accept divorces between two people, we should learn to accept that countries break up too. In Syria, it would have happened long ago if the powers-that-be had instructed the "opposition to Assad" to stick to the areas they had captured (which I believe makes up almost a third of Syria) and leave the rest to the regime. But, of course not. The goal was, and still is, to get rid of Assad. After that, the breaking up of Syria into a hundred hellholes just like what we see today in Libya, is of no interest to the master planners.
Curiously, Nigel Farage is against Scotland divorcing from "mother" UK. I find that strange because he wants UK to get out of the EU, but funnily enough he does not want Scotland to get away from the UK. Another case of "what's good for me, is not good for you because I say so."
Toby Helm and Daniel Boffey writing at GuardianUK:
Shock new poll says Scots set to vote yes to independence
'No' campaign to offer radical deal as latest figures show 51-49% backing for end of the union.
The people of Scotland are to be offered a historic opportunity to devise a federal future for their country before next year's general election, it emerged on Saturday night, as a shock new poll gave the campaign for independence a narrow lead for the first time.
Amid signs of panic and recrimination among unionist ranks about the prospects of a yes vote on 18 September, the Observer has learned that a devolution announcement designed to halt the nationalist bandwagon is due to be made within days by the anti-independence camp.
The plan, in the event of a no vote, is that people from all parts of Scottish society – rather than just politicians – would be invited to take part in a Scottish conference or convention that would decide on further large-scale transfers of power from London to Holyrood.
A poll by YouGov for the Sunday Times sent shockwaves through the political establishment north and south of the border as it showed the yes camp had 51% to 49% for no, excluding the don't knows. Better Together leader Alistair Darling said: "These polls can and must now serve as a wake-up call to anyone who thought the referendum was a foregone conclusion."
David Cameron was at Balmoral on Saturday night on his annual visit, where growing support for a yes vote was likely to have been raised with the Queen.
With momentum now strongly behind Alex Salmond's push for full-blown independence, the no campaign is desperately searching for ways to seize back the initiative in the last 11 days of campaigning. A win for the yes campaign would represent a stunning turnaround, and unleash the biggest constitutional crisis in the union's 300-year history: it was 14 points behind in polls taken less than a month ago.
However, another poll carried out by Panelbase for Yes Scotland found that no is leading 52% to 48% when undecided voters are excluded...........

Scotland readying for the big day, the referendum ...
which is coming up in less than six months.
From ITVNews:
...Alex Salmond urges Scotland to back independence in last big speech before referendum. In what is being seen as his biggest party conference speech to date, Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond declared it was "time to say Yes" to independence.
With voters in Scotland to decide the country's future in just over five months time, Mr Salmond insisted the momentum was with those campaigning to leave the UK as he addressed the final party conference before the country's independence referendum.
He told the party faithful that a yes vote wasn't a vote for the SNP, but for Scotland's future........

Cleric Hassan Rouhani is running away with the Iranian vote
Lefty Scotland is jubilant that a "Glasgow man" will now be Iran's honcho.
By that same token, I bet Big Brother too was jubilant when Morsi was elected as President of Egypt because he spent some years in a California university. That makes Morsi a "California man".
Hassan Rouhani is supposed to be the most moderate and the most modern from the others who were in the running.
Fraser Nelson writing at SpectatorUK:
Iran may have just elected a Glasgow man as president Early results from Iran’s presidential election indicate that Hassan Rouhani, as Glasgow graduate, is in the lead. He is a cleric and a polyglot, speaking English, German, French, Russian and Arabic. He is seen as a reformer and jumping out from his long CV is a doctorate from Glasgow Caledonian University. Like most Glasgow men, he’s proud of the fact – even if his election broadcast cheekily truncated his alma matter to “Glasgow University” so it could show footage of its far-prettier campus. He was rumbled: it now looks as if he studied at the old Glasgow Polytechnic in the 1970s. But he seems to have enjoyed Glasgow so much – understandably – that he returned to study a PhD in the 1990s. (The graduation list here: he then went by the name of Hassan Feridon).
To his credit, his PhD study appears to coincide with his tenure as secretary of Iran’s supreme national security council. Now, personally, I’d rather do this job from Glasgow than Tehran. What better vantage point to view the world than the kebab houses and hostelries of Sauchiehall Street? Where better to hone skills in diplomacy? (He has been Iran’s lead nuclear negotiator). And you can’t accuse him of reveling in Western decadence – life expectancy is lower in Glasgow than in Iran.
All told, the ascendancy of this Glasgow man bodes well for Iranian politics. Those armed with a Scottish education have made excellent leaders of foreign countries. Canada had John Buchan and modern Hong Kong was pretty much invented by John Cowperthwaite who applied the ideas of Adam Smith to make this tiny island as rich (per capita) as America.....
From YahooNews ...Nasser Karimi and Brian Murphy writing at AP :
... Iran's reformist-backed presidential candidate surged to a wide lead in a partial vote count Saturday, a top official said, suggesting a flurry of late support could have swayed a race that once appeared solidly in the hands of Tehran's ruling clerics.
The powerful showing by former nuclear negotiator Hasan Rowhani, which may be enough to give him an outright victory and avoid a two-person runoff next Friday, demonstrated the strength of opposition sentiment even in a system that is gamed against it. The ruling clerics barred from the race reform candidates seen as too prominent, allowing a list of hopefuls who were mainly staunch loyalists of the supreme leader.
But the opposition settled on Rowhani as the least objectionable of the bunch, making him the de facto reform candidate.
While Iran's presidential elections offer a window into the political pecking orders and security grip inside the country — particularly since the chaos from a disputed outcome in 2009 — they lack the drama of truly high stakes as the country's ruling clerics and their military guardians remain the ultimate powers.......

Scotland's left-wing media mafia
We knew from years ago when Scotland released the Libyan bomber that they had gone over to the evil side, didn't we? We knew they had turned a sharp Left and when that happens the only outcome, sooner or later, is a headlong crash on a steep and perilous road of stupidity. The Left is now ganging up on the one guy who might be able to save Britain ... Nigel Farage.
Tom Gallagher writing at TheTelegraphUK:
....Nigel Farage has been discovering the hard way that politics in Scotland is often a rough business. He put the phone down on the BBC Good Morning Scotland programme on Friday morning, believing the reporter's line of questioning displayed the xenophobia that had led to him being barricaded in an Edinburgh pub just around the corner from the Scottish parliament, the evening before.
It might be some consolation for the British nationalist to know that he is in step with a lot of Scots. Radio 4’s Today has at least as many listeners in Scotland as Good Morning Scotland. Shrill presenters and amateur programme-making has led to a mass desertion of listeners despite the quickening pace of politics as Scotland decides whether to opt for a post-British future.
Scottish broadcasting recoils from free-wheeling debate. Not a few of its top managers and interviewers have been recruited from the world of Left student activism which provided part of the flash mob that bore down on Farage in central Edinburgh. Nostrums about more Europe, the necessity for a big state, and the joys of untrammelled multiculturalism shape the contours of discussion. A Scottish David Starkey or a Jeremy Clarkson would soon be wanted men if they broke through the tartan media curtain.
The Scottish broadsheets produced from Glasgow and Edinburgh, the Herald and the Scotsman, are in an even sorrier state than the local BBC. Their circulation has nosedived in the last 20 years. Tiny numbers of Scots have access to them on a daily basis. Both rely on a core Left readership, especially the Herald, once the voice of the West of Scotland bourgeoisie. Iain MacWhirter is the Herald’s chief political columnist. This former BBC correspondent was until recently Rector of Edinburgh University. He has devoted much ink to painting Ukip and its Eurosceptic cause in lurid colours ever since it broke into front-rank British politics on 2 May.
The Scottish Daily Mail exceeds the combined circulation of these two newspapers, which may have to merge if they .......

St-upid Paddies and their Allahu Akbar in all its gooey green glory
The Irish!! Too much boozing does nobody no good. Catholics are stupid, especially the heavy drinkers like the Irish. The Scots are dhimmis too and so also are the Italians. And, don't even get me started on the rest of the fucks in that corner of the world. Have I insulted enough people or should I carry on some more? The more "Christian" a country the more it is the magnet for allahu akbars because they know that God was running out of brain cells when he created most Christians and that their suicidal attitude of "me so good, me so nice, me gonna be kissy-kissy with all God's creatures be they headchoppers or not" is like taking candy from a baby.Plans for Ireland's biggest mosque have been given the go-ahead by Dublin City Council for a site in the north of the city.
The six-acre site in Clongriffin will be able to cater for up to 3,000 Muslims during festivals.
One condition of the planning permission is that there is no call to prayer audible outside the complex.
The development will consist of a three-storey domed mosque with minarets, a conference centre, primary and secondary schools and fitness centre with swimming pool.
The mosque will cater for around 550 people for Friday night prayers but up to 3,000 for the festival of Eid.
Local Labour TD Sean Kenny said the vast majority of people in Clongriffin were in favour of the development.
He said he was glad that concerns about noise, parking and access through the site have been addressed.
The planning application was made by a group called The Dublin Welfare Society and it is believed that a benefactor from the United Arab Emirates is funding the project, which is expected to cost at least €40m.
The site, which is situated between Father Collins Park and Clongriffin DART station, is owned by developer Gerry Gannon and had been empty since the collapse of the property market.......

Breakups and Separations .... Country-style
How many will achieve independence? Right now, there are more than a dozen areas of the world desiring to become "countries" in their own right. Four of those are in the EU.
Two centuries after Napoleonic forces snuffed out the 1,000-year Venetian Republic, Venetians are once again aspiring to become an independent state.
A country is in big trouble when cities or states it thought prosperous start clamoring for bailouts. Think back to the New York headlines of the 1970s (“Ford to City: Drop Dead”) or consider the states now careening towards bankruptcy (Illinois and California tops among them). But Spain has a bigger problem. It is a complicated constitutional federation that relies on the semi-autonomous region of Catalonia to pay a lot of its bills, and Catalonia is now saying to Madrid what Ford said to New York. The Catalan president, Artur Mas, has called elections for November 25, promising to interpret a big victory as a green light for a referendum on full independence. Spain’s government has declared, Spain’s Supreme Court has opined, and Spain’s national assembly has voted that such a referendum would be illegal.....
....The movement has much in common with other breakaway movements gaining steam in Europe now. Scottish nationalists will hold a referendum on independence in 2014, and the new Flemish nationalists have just captured the mayoralty of Antwerp.....
....This kind of nationalism is not as unsettling as its predecessors. For much the same reason, it is not as logical, either. Catalans, like Scots and Flemings, do not seek a country for “ourselves alone.” They explicitly seek to submit themselves to the European Union’s system of “shared sovereignty.”......

Good News for Quebec .... Scotland goes to referendum in 2014
Imagine that! Cameron is fine with divorcing from the 300-year union with Scotland, but he's determined to continue with the disastrous marriage with the EU.
BBC Scotland understands the final issues outstanding between the governments were resolved on Friday afternoon.
Scottish Secretary Michael Moore spoke to Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon by telephone.
Prime Minister David Cameron and First Minister Alex Salmond are to meet on Monday to sign the agreement.
The referendum is to be held in the autumn of 2014.....

Obama and Lefties are suffering from BWS "battered wife syndrome"
The more the Muslims hit them, the more they think they have the capacity to change the feral beasts into docile puppies. Battered wives too think that they can change the violent nature of their violent husbands.
From the medical dictionary:
BWS = ....Over time, the violent episodes escalate in frequency and severity. Most battered women report that they thought that the assaults would stop; unfortunately, studies show that the longer the women stay in the relationship the more likely they are to be seriously injured. Less and less provocation seems to be enough to trigger an attack once the syndrome has begun.....
Remember how Obama & gang pretended to be angry because the Scots had released the Lockerbie bomber and sent him to Libya in 2009? A bit later we learnt that Obama was neck deep into that muck and had in fact got the Scots to release the man instead of transferring him to a jail in Libya, as supposedly was the planned intention of the Scots. Obama plans on doing the exact same thing that he manipulated the Scots into doing and guess who will go along with him? The RINOs .... and I bet that leading that sorry queue of old foggies will be the daddy of all foggies ... McCain. Wait and watch.
With what happened then with the Lockerbie bomber and the outright lies, manipulation, deceit, betrayal and obdurate nature of the maniacs in the White House, we should not be surprised or shocked that these same traitors are now contemplating the release of the blind sheikh to Egypt.
America is going down. We here in Canada will be affected as well, our economy and destiny is tied to the USA .... no amount of wishing otherwise can change that fact. Our housing market bubble is about to burst too. Don't be fooled by the way the markets have been behaving the last few weeks. If Obama gets a second term, nothing and nobody will be able to prevent that nation from going way below China, Russia, Japan,Germany, France, Brazil, India and the UK.
Fox News has obtained intelligence documents suggesting the US Embassy protest in Cairo was an effort to demand the release of the 1993 World Trade Center bomber. According to the documents from the Department of Homeland Security, the call to action was posted on the Internet two days before the September 11, 2012 attack in Cairo. There were calls on Egyptians to burn down the embassy if they had to, for the release of Omar Abdel-Rahman, the so-called “blind sheikh.”
The sheikh is now serving a life sentence in connection to the bombing of the WTC in 1993 which killed six people and injured more than a thousand others. Fox News correspondent Catherine Herridge reported that there are talks of transferring him to Egyptian custody for humanitarian and health reasons. Eight senior Republican lawmakers have sent a letter to the Department of Justice and the State Department responding to the report of transferring Abdel-Rahman......

Donald Trump vs Scotland's dizziness for Wind Turbines
Ohh.... those Scots !! How did they become so leftish and harebrained? Most nations are dumping any plans they had for additional turbines, but the Scots are proving to be late learners.
From the NewsScotsman:
...US tycoom Donald Trump will warn the Scottish Parliament this week that his plans to build a luxury hotel alongside his Aberdeenshire golf course will be axed if ministers back a series of “insane” wind turbines nearby.
The billionaire property developer will appear at Holyrood on Wednesday to attack the Scottish Government’s renewable energy proposals, accusing Alex Salmond of “destroying” the country’s natural heritage.
His championship golf course, ten miles north of Aberdeen, is scheduled to open as planned in July, but the entrepreneur’s senior representative said additional plans for a major hotel and housing development could not “co-exist” with an offshore wind farm planned for the coastal waters nearby.......

News about bomb lovers
1) Useless Nitwits will be holding an "emergency meeting" to blah blah blah and more blah about this incident. ....North Korea bombarded a South Korean island near their disputed western border Tuesday, setting buildings ablaze and killing at least two marines and injuring 16 others after warning the South to halt military drills in the area, South Korean officials said.
South Korea said it returned fire and scrambled fighter jets in response, and said the "inhumane" attack on civilian areas violated the 1953 armistice halting the Korean War. The two sides technically remain at war because a peace treaty was never negotiated.....
2) When I hear the word "Scotland" I associate it with the Libyan killer who was released by Scotland. Now we can also associate the word Scotland with "testing bombs" ...They are investigating whether it might have been the site of an Al Qaeda training camp or a bomb testing and storage site.
Islamic extremists are known to use remote locations to store bomb-making materials and train in terror tactics. The 7/7 London bombers were photographed on a training camp in the Lake District and other fanatics have trained in the New Forest.
