Oscars speech smear campaign shows lying for Israel is a good career move

Film director Jonathan Gazer’s
acceptance speech went viral. But Jewish community leaders know there
will be no professional damage for misrepresenting his words
Film director Jonathan Glazer poked a hornet’s nest with his acceptance speech this week as he won an Oscar for The Zone of Interest,
a film about the family of Auschwitz’s Nazi commandant who live
peacefully inside a walled garden, cut off from the horrors just the
other side.
Glazer says the film’s point is not simply to drive home a history
lesson. It’s “not to say, ‘Look what they did then.’ Rather, ‘Look what
we do now.’”
There could not be pithier summary of the difference between the
universal moral impulse found in Jews like Glazer, and the particularist
Zionist impulse found in the people who noisily claim to speak for the
Jewish community – and are readily given a bullhorn to do so by western
establishments.
The first group says, “Never again.” The second group cries, “Never again, unless it serves Israel’s interests.”
And given Israel’s decades-long craving to dispossess the
Palestinians of their entire homeland, that second “Never again” is as
good as worthless. Palestinians were always in danger of erasure – not
just territorially, as happened in 1948 and 1967, but existentially, as
is happening now – by a state misleadingly declaring itself to be
Jewish......

in Gonaïves, Haiti in August 2002 saw a bulldozer smash through the

a gang leader jailed weeks earlier for harassing Haitian political
figures, to overrun the facility. Métayer escaped, as did 158 other
prisoners. Among them were perpetrators of the April 1994 Raboteau
massacre, which left dozens of Haitians dead and displaced. The victims
were supporters of popular anti-imperial President Jean-Bertrand

UN Experts Condemn Israel for Aid Convoy Massacre
Special rapporteurs with the United
Nations have rebuked Israel after its forces opened fire on hundreds of
Palestinians gathered around aid trucks in the Gaza Strip, killing at
least 112 people and injuring nearly 800 more.
In a press release
issued on Tuesday, a group of seven UN experts accused Israel of
wielding food as a weapon against Gaza’s population of 2.3 million,
saying it was “intentionally starving the Palestinian people.” They
added that IDF troops were now “targeting civilians seeking humanitarian
aid,” citing the February 29 ‘Flour Massacre’ in Gaza City.
“The attack came after Israel has
denied humanitarian aid into Gaza City and northern Gaza for more than a
month,” they wrote, saying Tel Aviv “must end its campaign of
starvation and targeting of civilians.”
The slaughter unfolded last Thursday
as a large crowd of Palestinians gathered to wait for desperately needed
aid deliveries. As a convoy carrying wheat flour passed through the
area, the situation became chaotic, with people racing to grab supplies
from the aid trucks, witnesses told the Associated Press.....

Sometimes
it takes our bodies to return us to our souls. And our little pains to
remind us of the indescribable pain of the savage killing and
dismemberment of innocent children and adults in Gaza and many other
places by U.S. weapons produced in clean factories by people just doing
their jobs and collecting their pay at “defense” contractors Raytheon,
Lockheed Martin, Pfizer, etc. Abstraction is the name of the game as
human bodies are torn to pieces “over there” and the obscene profits are
transferred at the computer terminals day and night......
...........Toward the end of my two-week stay in the land of sickness, I read
this poem by the Palestinian poet Refaat Alareer, who was killed in Gaza
by an IDF airstrike on December 6, 2023 along with his brother, nephew,
sister, and three of her children. My sickness turned to rage.
If I Must Die
If I must die,
you must live
to tell my story
to sell my things
to buy a piece of cloth
and some strings,
(make it white with a long tail)
so that a child, somewhere in Gaza
while looking heaven in the eye
awaiting his dad who left in a blaze —
and bid no one farewell
not even to his flesh

United Nations (UN) report recently emerged making damning claims of
sexual violence allegedly committed by Hamas. But not all is as it
seems. The report has some glaring epistemological problems, all of
which seem to serve the Israeli narrative that its genocide in Gaza is
somehow justified. Moreover, the report fits within a wider modus operandi
on the part of the world’s preeminent international institution. A more
comprehensive examination of the history of the UN’s role in the
conflict in Palestine reveals its supposed pro-Palestinian bias is not
as clearcut as it’s commonly presented. Indeed, there is evidence that
the UN has, if anything, been more a tool of Israel than the other way
