World War III news and updates .... December 16 .... Part 1

Warmongering Harper govt is playing with fire on Russia's border and not only putting Canadian economy in extreme danger but Canadian lives as well. October 2015 is not coming soon enough to kick these warmongers out of office and restore Canada to a peaceful nation that believes in diplomacy first, second and always.

Moreover, there are plenty of rumors that the angel-faced devil in disguise Harper is planning on sending Canadian troops to the Middle East.  Does the Harper government really think Canadian voters of Ukrainian and Jewish descent will give them victory come election time when we have imported millions of  baby-making immigrants from other religions which far, far outnumber the potential Jewish and Ukrainian Canadian voters?  When will this govt stop bending over for the USA and sucking up to Israel and polishing apples for the Ukraine and start thinking of Canada and Canadians first?

Why are we interfering with Russia?  Is Russia coming to invade us from the North?

From CBCnews
Canada to train Ukrainian military cops as Ottawa seeks closer ties
'This is a continuing effort,' says Defence Minister Rob Nicholson
The Harper government signalled Monday it wants to create deeper defence ties with Ukraine, signing a declaration that could lead to broader military co-operation in one of the most volatile parts of the globe.
As part of that pronouncement, Defence Minister Rob Nicholson revealed Canada is searching for bilateral ways to expand military training with the embattled country and that a team of trainers has arrived for an unspecified mission......
.....Canada has already donated quantities of non-lethal military equipment to the government in Kyiv.
In August, the Harper government delivered helmets, protective eyewear, first-aid kits, tents and sleeping bags......

From TheStar:
By sending military aid to Ukraine, Canada is throwing tinder on a conflict that shows no sign of letting up.
It’s not a lot of tinder. Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s Conservative government says it will provide items such as sleeping bags and helmets to help Kyiv’s army fight eastern separatists sympathetic to Russia.

From SputnikNews:
Kiev Denies Allegations of NATO Equipment Shipments to Closed Airports
Transport planes, combat aircraft and strike helicopters were spotted by militia fighters in eastern Ukraine.
The Eastern Ukrainian militia reports an increase of air activity over the territory controlled by the Ukrainian forces, according to Rossiyskaya Gazeta. The militia fighters spotted transport and attack planes, as well as strike and multipurpose helicopters.
The biggest increase of activity is reported over the airfields in Kramatorsk and Chuhuiv where military equipment is shipped from Dnepropetrovsk. In addition, the militia reports that four NATO transport planes landed in Zaporizhia airport last night, carrying cargo containers and some unspecified equipment.....

From CBC:
Iraq crisis: Canadians on the ground in Iraq, Rob Nicholson says
Canadian personnel are already working in Iraq following a pledge to send dozens of military advisers to help Kurdish forces battle ISIS, Defence Minister Rob Nicholson said Tuesday.

Last week, the federal government said it would send a group of experts to advise on tactics for fighting the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, also known as ISIS or ISIL. The Canadian military advisers will mainly be members from the Canadian Special Operations Regiment.

Nicholson and Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird appeared before the House foreign affairs committee Tuesday morning, where they gave few details of the 30-day deployment, citing operational security.
"We're moving as quickly as possible and, as I indicated to you, there are already on the ground members of the Canadian lead in this area," Nicholson said.
"We don't give the exact time and place up for obvious security reasons."
Both Nicholson and Baird said the mission will be re-evaluated after 30 days, making no promises that the deployment will end then.....

From BBC:
Islamic State: Coalition 'pledges more troops' for Iraq
The US-led coalition fighting Islamic State (IS) militants has pledged to send an additional 1,500 troops to Iraq, a top US commander has said.
Lt Gen James Terry, who is co-ordinating efforts against IS, said the soldiers would be in addition to 3,100 US soldiers already promised.
He did not say which coalition nations would provide the extra troops or what role they would play......

From CBCNews
ISIS in Iraq: What Canada could offer if West decides on military action.
Range of options includes training for Kurdish fighters to surveillance planes.....
....In Iraq, Canada's ambassador to the region, Bruno Saccomani, has been meeting with Kurdish representatives in Iraq and had his picture taken on the "front lines" of the Peshmerga forces' fight against ISIS.

Any Canadian military contribution to the fight against ISIS would likely be small and specific. Canada almost never goes anywhere with its military force without allies alongside. Whatever is done would likely be in conjunction with American and, probably, British forces......

The sins of the Harper government

Even true blue Conservatives who have voted for the party throughout their lives are now coming out and openly showing their displeasure with Stephen Harper's government.  When veterans who are known to vote Conservative, say "Anybody but Conservative" .... you know the party is in deep, deep trouble.  Trouble of their own making.

As far as I am concerned,  there are far too many sins that the Conservative party can never be forgiven for:

Harper openly siding with warlord criminal Netanyahu in the mass murder of Palestinians in Gaza;

Harper government's involvement in the Ukraine's murderous coup and its full ongoing commitment to the Mafia-like regime that took over that country and started bombarding civilian areas of the separatist east Ukraine;  (at one point it got so disgusting with prominent members of Harper's government showing their support by changing their Twitter pics to Ukraine's symbol which looks like the devil's trident.)

Harper government's disregard for veterans after Canada has sent them to wars from which most come back without limbs and a big part of their sanity and health damaged forever;

Harper government's continuous import of immigrants and refugees from Muslim conflict areas;

Harper government's loud and malicious instigation for sanctions against Russia which sanctions are now crippling the economy of a large part of the world ....  the list can go on and on and on and on.

Janice Dickson writing at iPolitics:
Angry veterans launch ‘Anybody But Conservative’ campaign to defeat Tories in upcoming election
“We need a government that will look after us veterans,” said Ron Clarke, a 36-year-veteran, in an emotional plea.

For Clarke and veterans advocate Mike Blais, the federal election can’t come soon enough.

Clarke, an advocate from Cape Breton, launched his Anybody But Conservative campaign Wednesday in hopes of a government that will treat its veterans better.
In a Parliament Hill news conference, Clarke also made a plea to serving members of the military to join the protest.

Clarke and Blais are urging the government—or possibly future government—to re-open the nine veterans offices that the Conservative government closed across Canada, and to grant veterans a pension, rather than a minimal lump sum of $350,000.
This campaign could hit Conservatives where it hurts the most.
Seniors have historically voted Conservative — poll Conservative and in fact show up to vote.

So when a prominent, and elderly, Nova Scotia veteran announces he will be encouraging all veterans and Canadian citizens to vote, “anything but Conservative”— it draws attention.
“Into the thousands,” Clarke said, unable to pinpoint an exact number of supporters.

But if his message resonates among his age group—the number could stretch into the millions.
In 2011, five million Canadians were over 65 and that number is predicted to grow, according to Statistics Canada.......

Scotiabank Canada comes out with dismal report

When banks start having woes, that's the time to be very, very, very vigilant about the economy. This is not good for Canada. After Scotiabank, which other bank will come clean?  I was beginning to think we were immune, but this will bring many who think like me back to earth with a thud.  Just go take a peek  at our Oil and Metal companies today and be prepared to see a huge downward trend on your mutual funds account come year end.

Thank you dear PM Stephen Harper for the cheerleading you did for imposing sanctions on Russia after you and your sidekick went to Ukraine and performed monkey tricks for the protesters. Besides that, we know you and your government had a huge role to play in the collapse of the Ukrainian government and the subsequent ongoing destruction of that country.  The world economy has been going downhill since then. Thank You O great Economist Leader of Canada.

From YahooFinance:
Scotiabank to cut 1,500 positions worldwide, take profit hit in fourth quarter
Scotiabank (TSX:BNS) plans to cut 1,500 jobs — about two-thirds of them in Canada — as it restructures its operations and closes 120 branches at its international banking arm.
The bank said Tuesday it will take a $341-million hit after taxes to its fourth-quarter earnings as a result of the changes, but expected to remain on track to meet its 2014 financial objectives.
No branch closures were announced in Canada, but the bank said some of the job cuts will be at its head office.
Scotiabank said it will also centralize and automate some branch functions and make changes to its wealth management business.
"We're comfortable with our footprint here in Canada, so I wouldn't anticipate any branch closings here," Porter told analysts in a conference call.
The situation is different internationally. Scotiabank plans to close about 10 per cent of its branches outside of Canada, including in Mexico and the Caribbean region......

I am not the only one totally disgusted with Harper and his Cons!

I absolutely like the title of the blog: "Letters To The Beast"  .... that's really telling them beasts what one thinks of them.

I read the entire blog post with a big smile on my face.  I love it when I find there are many other Canadians out there who are just as frustrated as moi with our lying Conservative party and the way they are pandering to the USA and Israel even when it is apparent to the rest of the world and those probably in outer space and in the next galaxy that both the USA and Israel are the main cause of all disharmony on planet Earth.

Dear Bob:

Some disturbing reports have emerged recently in different parts of the world regarding war crimes, barbarism and other atrocities.

This week, foreign media organizations such as OneIndia, International Business Times and Russia Today (among others) reported on mass graves found in an area of the Ukraine which recently came under the control of pro-Russian separatists. One mass grave is estimated to contain the bodies of 400 people (presumably Russian), who appear to have had their hands bound and been shot. The obvious conclusion is that the perpetrators were agents of the Poroshenko regime which your regime, among others, installed after overthrowing the legitimately-elected Yanukovich government........

Warmonger PM of Canada is all set to send Canadian elite troops to die in Iraq

What a disappointment this man has turned out to be!  How he fooled so many voters into voting for him, not just once but twice!  Just like the other disgusting individual down south.

From TorontoStar:
Sending Canadian military advisers  to Iraq risks drawing us deeper into a chaotic war: Editorial

With Canadian military aircraft ferrying munitions into Iraq, and combat advisers soon to be on the ground in battle zones, what’s next?
Parliament should dig into this.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper has made a risky and unsettling decision by abruptly inserting the Canadian military into the war that is raging in Iraq. He should have sought Parliament’s express consent before deciding to send combat advisers. As the United States knows only too well, Iraq is a place where hope goes to die.

Granted, Canadians are appalled by the rise of the self-styled Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, with its grisly beheadings, mass executions, torture, rape and other crimes against minorities and foreigners. Fuelled by Al Qaeda’s vicious vision of “cleansing” the Middle East of foreign influences, these Sunni jihadists have carved out a caliphate of murder that threatens the region. The chief worry is that they may become a launch pad for terror attacks far afield.

Given the threat, Canada has reason to offer robust political, financial and humanitarian support to Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi’s democratically-elected government and to Iraq’s Kurdish militia as they try to roll back the jihadists. Working with the United States, Britain and other allies our air force has been shipping military and humanitarian supplies to Iraqi forces and civilians fleeing the fighting. And Foreign Minister John Baird was in Baghdad last week pledging yet more help. Certainly, we ought to ramp up our $28 million in humanitarian aid, and $10 million in military gear.

But it hardly follows that Canadian troops must be rushed at Washington’s prodding to northern Iraq to “assist and advise” struggling Iraqi forces and Kurdish militias with tactical guidance. Even in modest numbers. As the Star’s Bruce Campion-Smith reported on Friday from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization summit in Wales, Harper accepts that “the risks are very real.” He also raised eyebrows with his observation that “our allies are going to look at further steps,” suggesting we could get more deeply involved.

This smacks of improvisation. Of course Harper was at pains to soft-pedal our mission, speaking of “several dozen” advisers and stressing that this isn’t a combat deployment. Yet soothing as that is meant to be, no role in Iraq is risk-free. Nor does it explain why Canadian forces are needed at all, given that the U.S. has 800 troops there with vastly more experience in the country......

Canada supports the Ukrainian regime made up of Nazi parties

With Stephen Harper at the helm of Canada anything and everything disastrous is possible.  The next election is not coming soon enough.  God give me the strength to tolerate the Cons till then without self combustion.

From NBCNews:
German TV Shows Nazi Symbols on Helmets of Ukraine Soldiers

Germans were confronted with images of their country’s dark past on Monday night, when German public broadcaster ZDF showed video of Ukrainian soldiers with Nazi symbols on their helmets in its evening newscast. In a report on the fragile cease-fire in eastern Ukraine, Moscow correspondent Bernhard Lichte used pictures of a soldier wearing a combat helmet with the "SS runes" of Hitler’s infamous black-uniformed elite corps. A second soldier was seen with a swastika on his gear. “Volunteer battalions from nearly every political spectrum are reinforcing the government side,” the ZDF correspondent said in his report.

The video was shot last week in Ukraine by a camera team from Norwegian broadcaster TV2. “We were filming a report about Ukraine’s AZOV battalion in the eastern city of Urzuf, when we came across these soldiers,” Oysten Bogen, a correspondent for the private television station, told NBC News......

Supreme Court tries to bring PM Harper down to Earth ....

but will he stop flying in the clouds, getting lightheaded and making wrong choices and wrong decisions?
I doubt it.
Remember, this is the same man, who before he became PM on a "strong Conservative majority" had promised to do away with the Senate,  but did just the opposite by staffing it with additional wrong choices .... this time with his very own wrong choices.
Never trust politicians ... NEVER!  They are where they are because they are excellent at spouting lies and making them sound either like promises or the absolute truth.

From BBC:
...The Canadian Supreme Court has rejected the Harper government's plan to reform or abolish the Canadian Senate.

In a unanimous decision, the high court said most major changes suggested must be approved by seven provinces and half of Canada's population.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper said he was disappointed in the decision and said reform was now "off the table".
Senators are appointed on the advice of the prime minister and can serve until 75 years old.

The chamber has been recently embroiled in an expenses row.
Four senators in total have faced audits over their claims for living and travel expenses. An internal Senate panel has demanded repayment of large sums from the senators.......

From CBC:
....Five recent Supreme Court setbacks for the Harper government.
The Supreme Court of Canada dealt the Harper government another blow Friday, this time on the subject of Senate reform. Here's a look at five recent cases in which the high court rejected the government's arguments.
April 25, 2014: The court rules that the Harper government cannot use Parliament alone to impose Senate term limits, allow consultative elections for senatorial candidates or abolish the upper chamber. The justices hold that the first two changes would need the consent of seven provinces representing half the provinces. Abolition would require provincial unanimity.

From CBC:
.....Stephen Harper says Senate reform is off the table
Top court decision supports 'status quo,' prime minister says, and 'virtually no Canadian' agrees
Significant reform of the Senate as well as the question of whether the upper chamber can be abolished are "off the table," Prime Minister Stephen Harper said, speaking in Kitchener-Waterloo Friday.

"The Supreme Court has said these are only decisions the provinces can make," Harper said, referring to the top court's advisory opinion that Senate changes cannot be accomplished without the consent of some or all of the provinces along with the federal government........

The scandal-plagued Harper government

Like I have said before,  come the next election, Harper and his Cons will be lucky if they are given the privilege to form a coalition govt.  The "strong Conservative majority govt" has slipped from their hands.... and the only people to blame are the Conservatives themselves. So many scandals of late, most of us have already lost count.  Besides, nobody takes kindly to bullies who think they can hop and skip to far away lands with intent to replace governments of those countries when those same billions of dollars spent outside the country can be spent inside it. Right now,  I am thinking of Libya, Syria and Ukraine. In the long run, we might have to add Afghanistan too to that list.

Andy Radia at YahooPolitics:
....One of the emerging themes as we inch toward the 2015 federal election is that of a political leader's judgement.
We saw a hint of this on Monday when Conservative Party Officials questioned Justin Trudeau's after the Liberal leader dropped an f-bomb at a charity boxing match over the weekend.
Trudeau countered, questioning Stephen Harper's judgement over the sudden resignation of the prime minister's hand-picked Conservative Party executive director Dimitri Soudas. Soudas resigned on Sunday after allegations emerged of him interfering with a nomination battle in Oakville involving his fiance MP Eve Adams.
"It's yet another example of this government in general, but Mr. Harper in particular, showing poor judgement in his appointments process. Whether its for senators or executive directors or chiefs of staffs," Trudeau told reporters on Monday.
"This is just part of a pattern of a government that has shown itself incapable of putting the right people in the right place."........

If you thought the Conservative govt. was about boosting our economy, you are wrong

The Conservatives have turned into raving warmongers with a hatred for Putin and Russia never seen anywhere else. Offhand, I can name at least a dozen companies trading on the TMX whose stock is bleeding since Harper started his personal vendetta and imposed sanctions on Russia.  The business community is not gonna be happy with the Conservatives .... no sirreeee!
Harper and his clowns are hoping the Ukrainian billionaires will  make a beeline to Canada and open up shop here and will also use their $$$$$$$$$$s to help them win the next election. We shall see what we shall see.

Minister Moore has the gall to talk about "Canada's foreign policy has to be principle based" when we can see what Canada's involvement has done to Libya and how "logistics support" has helped Al Qaeda-linked "rebels" in Syria kill civilians, including women and children.

The Conservative govt. of Stephen Harper has become an ugly, ugly Mafia-like force.

Julian Beltrame of The Canadian Press at YahooFinance:
.... Industry Minister James Moore says he can offer sympathy but little help to Canadian firms affected by sanctions against Russia, adding they should have seen the situation coming.
The minister made the comments during a teleconference Thursday following his trade mission to the Netherlands as Prime Minister Stephen Harper and German Chancellor Angela Merkel were turning up the heat on Russia over its annexation of Crimea.

While Canada-Russia trade is relatively small, the economic relationship has been expanding rapidly and the former communist country was listed as a "priority market" in Ottawa's global commerce strategy paper issued in November. As well, dozens of Canadian firms do business with Russia and could potentially be caught in the crossfire of rising political tensions.

Asked if he would intervene on behalf of Canadian firms, Moore said businesses should not be surprised by the West's imposition of sanctions, which Merkel warned would escalate if Putin does not act to ease tensions.

"We want Canadian businesses to explore export opportunities ... but Canada's foreign policy has to be principle based and will not be held hostage to short-term business interests," said Moore.
"While we are sympathetic, I think it's a bit naive for firms not to have had their eyes wide open about the possibility of these kinds of measures," he added.

Businesses with ties to Russia have expressed concern they could be adversely impacted and many have asked the government for a balanced approach on all sides.

"We are asking that the Canadian government, the Russian government and western governments keep things as calm as possible, but we recognize politics will be politics," said Erin Chutter, a spokeswoman for the Canada Eurasia Russia Business Association (CERBA), and chief executive of Global Cobalt Corp., which has an ongoing mining project in southern Russia...........

To judge or not to judge

The brewing of a horrid smelling broth.

Chris Hall writing at CBCNews:
.....It marked the first time that a prime minister appointed a judge for one of the three Quebec seats on the Supreme Court who was not a superior court judge in the province, or an active member of the Quebec bar.

Within weeks Nadon's qualifications were challenged, first by Toronto lawyer Rocco Galati and then by Pauline Marois's Parti Quebecois government.

Harper then upped the legal ante, by formally referring the case to the Supreme Court and by introducing an amendment to the Supreme Court Act to change the rules should the high court find Nadon doesn't meet the existing criteria.

As a tactical decision, this was a doozy. In effect, Harper asked the Supreme Court for its opinion while serving notice that he would change the rules if he didn't like the answer.

Galati, who stated his case at the January hearing, accused the Conservatives of trying to stack the court with ''judges who are more friendly to their point of view.''

Other legal experts were somewhat more circumspect.

"No matter what is decided Friday this is a very sad chapter for the Supreme Court,'' says University of Ottawa law professor Carissima Mathen. "It puts the court in the difficult position of having to decide the qualifications of one of its own.''.......

For the Believe It Or Not folder: 2-yr old gets 3-day suspension for bringing cheese sandwich to daycare

This is how crazy Canada has become.  And, with a Conservative govt in power, a Conservative govt that's either unable to rein in the madness and at  times, to all intends and purposes, looking like actually encouraging such insane behaviour ... Canada has no hope of ever returning to a sane and sober society.

This is another example of how robotic and brainwashed we the people have become.  Commonsense is a rare commodity today.  Instead of trashing the cheese sandwich and sending a polite note to the parents of the kid reminding them that "outside" food is not allowed ... the robotic administration of the daycare decided to behave as lunatic as they possibly could.

From CBCNews:
....An Ottawa father is looking to move his children out of their daycare over its strict "no outside food" policy, after his daughter was suspended for three days for bringing a cheese sandwich to class.

Randy Murray's two-year-old daughter Faith walked into the Centre de l'enfant aux 4 Vents in Ottawa's Barrhaven neighbourhood on Monday with a Ziploc bag with a cheese sandwich inside.
Murray said he knew his daughter had the sandwich in the car, but didn't realize she had put it in her pocket and taken it into class.
"By the time she was two steps in one of the teachers saw it, handed it back to me and then the next thing you know, I'm told we're suspended," said Murray.
"I thought they were joking, actually," Murray said, adding the daycare workers told him his four-year-old son, who also attends the daycare, could stay.....

Shereen Dindar writing at YahooNews:
...By now you've probably heard about overzealous zero-tolerance policies at North American schools and daycares that have led to kids being suspended for everything frompointing their finger like a gun to dyeing their hair to playing with an imaginary grenade.
But now it appears the most recent threat to children comes in the form of a contraband cheese sandwich.
An Ottawa father is speaking out against a strict "no outside food" policy at his daughter's daycare that led to her being suspended for three days, reports CBC.
Randy Murray claims it was an accident when his 2-year-old daughter, Faith, carried a processed cheese sandwich inside a plastic bag into the Centre de l'enfant aux 4 Vents on Monday..........

Compare and contrast .... the hypocrisy of Canada in dealing with Saudi Arabia vs Ukraine

Don't forget that we the people have elected these hypocrites to the high places from which they pretend to be righteous and fair to one and all.   Have you ever known the Canadian govt. to even breathe the word "sanctions" in the same sentence with the words "Saudi Arabia" ... have you?

From AlAlamEnglishNews:
....Saudi regime forces   have attacked and killed two anti-government activists at their home in the Qatif governorate of Eastern Province.
The two were killed when regime forces supported by armed vehicles stormed their house the town of Awamiyah. The town has been the scene of violent clashes between anti-regime protesters and Saudi forces for three years.
Witnesses said the two were harshly beaten by the regime forces and taken to hospital, where they died.
The move is considered as part of a fresh crackdown on anti-regime protests in Saudi Arabia.
On Wednesday, a Saudi court in Qatif sentenced seven people to jail terms of up to 20 years for taking part in protests in Qatif.
The men were also convicted of chanting slogans against the government......

From CanadaGovt:
Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued  the following statement on Canada’s response to the escalation of violence in Ukraine:

“Canada continues to be outraged by the ongoing violence in Ukraine. Our Government has responded by introducing a travel ban on the regime’s senior leaders and announcing medical aid to assist the protestors in their time of need. Today, our Government is taking additional action to increase pressure on the regime to end the violence.

“For months, our Government has delivered a strong message to the Ukrainian Government that its citizens must be allowed to exercise their democratic right to peaceful protest without being subjected to deadly force and appalling brutality. The outrageous violence being witnessed by the world must cease, and we hold the regime responsible for these actions against its own citizens.

“Today, we are imposing an expanded travel ban which will prevent senior members of the Ukrainian Government and other individuals, who bear political responsibility for the violence, from travelling to Canada. This expands the scope of travel restrictions announced on January 28th.  We will also be imposing economic sanctions on the Yanukovych regime and its supporters.

“It is our hope that these serious steps will convince the Ukrainian Government to seek a peaceful resolution to the crisis. We will continue to monitor developments in Ukraine, and, with our international allies, consider further options.

“Our Government, working with the Ukrainian-Canadian community and Members of our Caucus, will continue to stand by the Ukrainian people in their fight for a free and democratic Ukraine.”.....

Indonesia received $38,508,715 of Canadian taxpayers' money so they can do this to Christians?

I wonder why our money is being shipped overseas to Muslim countries when that same money can be used to give some relief to the millions of Canadians in Canada living below the poverty level.  WHY?  WHY? WHY?

I am with the Left when they accuse the Conservatives of not doing enough for the downtrodden Canadians.  Keeping one face for the world and keeping another one for poor Canadians is  not what I expected from the mighty Conservative govt. Shame on it.  Charity  begins at home, Harper govt. idiots.  Do the right thing by Canadians first.

From WorldWatchMonitor:
...Four churches   in Indonesia remain closed two months after local officials yielded to the demands of protesting Muslim hardliners.
The Indonesian Full Gospel Church, Pentecostal Movement Church, Indonesian Bethel Church and Christian New Covenant Church, which belong to the Cianjur regency of West Java, were closed on Dec. 8 following a protest by more than 150 Muslims from the Reformed Islamic Movement (GARIS) and People’s Defenders Front (FPI).

Canadian Foreign Aid To Muslim Nations That Persecute Christians.pdf

Oferlin Hia, pastor of the Christian New Covenant Church, is leading a petition to have the churches reinstated. He has lodged a complaint with the country’s Inter-Religious Harmony Forum and sent a letter to the regency chief, asking for an alternate venue. He has yet to receive a response.

“The churches are still in good spirit, but uncertainty lingers,” Hia told World Watch Monitor. “Using other church buildings is just a temporary solution; they’re not sure how long it could last.”......

Bombshell from the Liberal Party of Canada

What a well placed resounding slap at the Conservative govt. of Stephen Harper!!  Serves the PM right for dilly-dallying on the issue of dismantling the Senate and having only elected senators and not appointed ones.  One up for the Liberals. Well done!

There could be something like a scandal or worse behind it all ... but until that's revealed this move by the Liberals will be seen by many as a very positive one.

James Cudmore writing at CBC:
Justin Trudeau has expelled from his caucus every single Liberal member of the upper house and has declared there is no longer any such thing as a Liberal Senator.

The Liberal leader said the former members of the Liberal Senate caucus will sit as Independents, and they will have no formal ties to the Liberal parliamentary machinery apart from through their friendships.

Trudeau's decision will see some lifelong Liberals and key party operators and fundraisers removed from the party's caucus and forced outside its inner circles – a foundation-shaking decision in a business where power is derived from membership in a political club and the ability to access its best back rooms.

"The 32 formerly Liberal senators are now independent of the national Liberal caucus," Trudeau said. "They are no longer part of our parliamentary team. There are no more Liberal senators.

"The only way to be a part of the Liberal caucus is to be put there by the people of Canada."
The move stunned both Liberal senators and senior Liberal Senate staffers, who had not been formally advised of the decision. It also blindsided veteran insiders and political observers who had no inkling about the change........

Ouch, Ouch, Ouch

This is bad, bad, bad!  I hope someone disputes the negatives in the list with proper evidence to their  inaccuracies.

Alex Roberts writing at Ottawa Citizen:

The willfully blind and stone deaf Government of Canada

Update:  sorry about the broken link.  It's fixed now.

Lots of information below from an excellent blog "Point de Bascule Canada" on the recent conference "Reviving the Islamic Spirit" which was held in Toronto from Dec.27-29.

It's amazing how the Canadian govt. allows speakers to come into the country and lecture Canadian Muslims on how to live their lives and how they have to change the Canadian society if they want to remain true to their religion.

IMO, Tariq Ramadan is subtly telling Muslims to either do stealth jihad or outright jihad to get their way ... the islamic way.

.....Clip 1 - "We are not here to be accepted. We are here to change society."

More here.

Day 1 ( Video TR 48:56 - Preview at PDEB ) I am sorry to see that there is now too much Muslims who want a peaceful life, who wish to be recognized, to be accepted but are not ready for the fight and the fight is ... We are not here to be accepted. We are here to change society. We must get involved.

Extract 2 - Tariq Ramadan about Qatar and Saudi Arabia

Day 3 ( Video TR 12:04 ) Now ... And also very critical ... You know, for many years, I could not go to Saudi Arabia ... Review of the Gulf States. I never accepted this explanation is that the Saudis on one side and Qatar on the other play different games for the benefit of different interests. I am very, very careful about this and I said it ten years ago. I ask myself questions about Qatar, on al-Jazeera. Even ara (be). I wrote. Everything is written. It is on my website or in my books. How you can tell that the protests in Ukraine against the govt. are manufactured and supported by Russia's enemies

1)  John McCain supports the protests;
2)  Conservative Party of Canada supports the protests;

What more proof do you need?

From DailyMailUK:
....John McCain backs opposition leaders telling Ukraine protesters: 'America stands with you - Ukraine will make Europe better'
U.S. Senator John McCain visits anti-government protesters in Kiev
Calls mass protest 'incredible display of patriotism' in tweet............

From IPolitics:
....Foreign Minister John Baird on Monday  defended his decision to meet with Ukrainian protesters last week during a visit to the fractured country.
Speaking in question period, he responded to allegations by NDP foreign affairs critic Paul Dewar that he acted inappropriately by taking sides in the country’s political crisis.
Prompted by reporters Friday to give his opinion of Baird meeting with protesters in Kiev’s Independence Square after meeting with government leaders, Dewar said Baird should explain “what he was up to and why he decided to be involved in the crowds.”
He added that Baird should be trying to “bridge” Ukraine’s “great divide” — the country is split between pro-Russia and nationalist supporters — instead of picking sides.
Baird told MPs he was “shocked” by Dewar’s comments.
“I’ll tell you whose side this government stands on,” Baird began. “We stand on the side of the Ukrainian people in their fight for democracy.”............

Meanwhile, thousands of  Ukrainians, that according to Baird "are fighting for democracy" are having their own rally in support of the government and against the  protesters desiring to be part of the EU.

That begs the question:  Which group does Canada want to stand by while they "fight for democracy" .... will the Conservative govt. pick the pro-government side or the anti-government side.

When did Canada become such an interfering busy body?

From LBCGroupTV:
....Tens of thousands of Ukrainians  rallied in support of President Viktor Yanukovich in central Kiev on Saturday, separated by a line of riot police from anti-government protesters who have camped out for weeks in a nearby square.
Less than a day after talks between the government and the opposition failed to resolve the political crisis, Yanukovich's supporters waved the blue flags of his Party of Regions and chanted the president's name, while many others were arriving in Kiev for a mass opposition protest planned on Sunday...
