....Recently, Native American Congressman Tom Cole (R-OK, member of the Chickasaw Nation) introduced H.R. 2362, the Indian Trade and Investment Demonstration Project. The bill singles out Turkish-owned companies for exclusive investment preferences and special rights in Native American tribal area projects.

Congressman Cole freely admitted the following on the House floor:

There’s no question that I was approached by the Turkish American Coalition (properly the Turkish Coalition of America), who have a deep interest in Turkey and American Indians.

“Deep interest” indeed. The bill was the culmination of a multi-year effort by Turkey to ingratiate itself with Native American tribes: tribal students now study in Turkey with full scholarships; Turkish officials regularly appear at Native American economic summits; and dozens of tribal leaders have gone to Turkey on lavish all-expense-paid trips.

Why the intense interest in business and cultural ties with Native American tribes now, when Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Islamist Justice and Development party (AKP) have taken Turkey down a path of aggressive and dangerous Islamism?

Evidence from Uzbekistan points to a possible motive: infiltration and Islamization. The government of Uzbekistan is claiming that private Turkish business interests in the Central Asian country have been acting as a front for banned Islamist extremists. According to Agence France-Presse:

[The Uzbek government has accused] Turkish companies of creating a shadow economy, using double accounting and propagating nationalistic and extremist ideology. … Long wary of the influence of Islamic fundamentalism … secular authorities appear to be linking Turkish private business to the activities of the Nurcus, an Islamic group that is banned in the country.....

In multiple passages in the book, Bissonnette mentions training for the raid in North Carolina. "This training exercise down in North Carolina sounded like another bad mission. But I wouldn’t know until Monday," Bissonnette writes in the book. From there, the folks over at Cryptome apparently pored over acres of satellite imagery of CIA facilities in North Carolina....

 ..In less than two years,    a referendum on our membership of the EU has gone from being almost unthinkable to being almost inevitable. The sensible men, the moderate men, the men of bottom and judgment who used to dismiss Eurosceptics as loons, now tell us, with that grave expression they’ve perfected, that it’s all a matter of timing.

Before going further, we ought to tip our hats to the people who have brought this transformation about, including the 111 righteous MPs, Nigel Farage and the People’s Pledge. Theirs is an astonishing achievement. Such is the state of public expectation that anything short of an In/Out vote would now look like a climbdown.

So why, you ask, are we being addressed in hints, half-promises and off-the-record briefings? Why not just get on and announce the bloody thing?

These men don’t write such things lightly. Their sources are solid, their forecasts generally accurate.

Then, a couple of weeks ago, there was a change of heart. The PM still planned to make his announcement, we were told, but it would come later in the year. The reason was that he was engaged in a separate argument with Brussels to do with the budget – specifically, we now learn, his laudable attempt to create separate budgets for eurozone and non-eurozone states – and he felt that a referendum announcement in the middle of those talks would weaken his position......

Johra Kaleki, 40, faces several charges including attempted murder of her daughter, Bahar Ebrahimi. The court is hearing a motion for exclusion of certain evidence from the trial, including statements Kaleki made to police and doctors on the day of the attack........

268) On Thursday, September 27,    2012, police responded to a sexual assault call in the Spadina Avenue/Sullivan Street area.
It is alleged that:
− a 34−year−old women was walking on Sullivan Street, east of Spadina Avenue, when a man approached her from behind
− he dragged her, pulled her to the ground, and sexually assaulted her
− the woman screamed, alerting others in the area who came to her assistance
− the suspect ran from the scene but was located and arrested a short time later
Abbas Wehelie, 24, of no fixed address, is charged with Sexual Assault

269) ....Recently, the Cour de Québec convicted Reha Ozcelik and Ecehan Ozcelik, both foreign nationals, and fined them $120,000 for false representation related to immigration matters. The couple pled guilty to the charges laid by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).
The CBSA charged the two individuals with making false representations on two separate occasions in order to fraudulently keep their permanent resident status, thereby contravening the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
"Immigration fraud is a criminal offence in Canada and damages the integrity of our immigration system," said Benoît Chiquette, Regional Director General of the CBSA, Quebec Region. "The CBSA takes this issue very seriously and works to identify, investigate and prosecute those engaging in immigration fraud to the full extent of the law."
The CBSA Criminal Investigations Division, Quebec Region, currently has a number of residency fraud investigations underway and will continue to pursue these types of cases as they come to the Agency's attention.....

270)  ....Randjida Khairi paid the ultimate price   for standing up to her Afghan Muslim husband and letting their children live as Westerners, a jury heard Friday.
The mother of six had her throat slashed by Peer Khairi, slit open to the spine and slowly suffocated in her own blood, Crown attorney Robert Kenny said in his opening to the jury.
“She was in the process of separating her finances and moving out of the family home,” Kenny said. “There had been fights between the couple about how permissive she was in raising their children, how she allowed them to dress and socialize as they liked, rather than asserting more control over their behaviour so that they kept the culture and rules of their birthplace.”
Khairi, now 65, has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder in the March 18, 2008 slaying of Randjida, 53, his wife of more than 30 years, at their West Mall penthouse apartment.

− the accused followed her and again sat directly behind her and sexually assaulted her
Jubair Ahmed, 22, of Toronto, has been charged with Sexual Assault.
He is scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Thursday, October 4, 2012, room 507,
10 a.m.
Police believe there may be more victims.

272) ...Mahmood Mohammed Abbood, 21,    has been charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon (x2), housebreaking with intent, robbery with a firearm, unlawful confinement (x6), uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, breach of recognizance (x4), and numerous firearm-related charges. The accused was released on bail and will appear in court on Oct. 19, 2012.

Raad Hamza, 21, has been charged with assault (x2), assault with a weapon, forcible entry, unlawful confinement, and possession of an offensive weapon dangerous to the public. The accused is in custody and will appear in court on Oct. 19, 2012........

273)    .... An Egyptian man who preyed on Toronto sex workers will be deported after the Supreme Court on Friday refused to hear his appeal.
Al-Munzir Es-Sayyid, 23, terrorized and robbed escorts from downtown agencies using guns and knives. In 2009 he was found inadmissible to Canada because of serious criminality under the Immigration Act and a deportation order was issued against him, according to Supreme Court documents.
"Based on Mr. Es-Sayyid's numerous and serious criminal acts involving firearms and threats of violence, as well as his lack of rehabilitation in spite of probation and incarceration, he [presents] a present and future danger to the Canadian public and his presence in Canada [poses] an unacceptable risk," says a court document on his case.....

The terrorist act of  Anders Breivik changed things; it is not as easy anymore to be Islamophobic. The elites have also discovered that they will gain little support for it. Sweden had a version of EDL, but it never grew beyond a few members.

There is a new star on the Swedish Internet scene. A couple of years ago, Widar Nord, a former IT consultant, established his own online paper. He came from the libertarian camp but was quite critical of typical libertarian attitudes on immigration policy, their pro-Israeli views, and their lack of nationalism. A Taliban gunman walked up to a bus    taking children home from school in Pakistan's volatile Swat Valley on Tuesday and shot and wounded a 14-year-old activist known for championing the education of girls and publicizing atrocities committed by the Taliban, officials said.



The attack in the city of Mingora targeted 14-year-old Malala Yousufzai, who is widely respected for her work to promote the schooling of girls - something that the Taliban strongly opposes. She was nominated last year for the International Children's Peace Prize.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, calling Malala's work "obscenity."

"This was a new chapter of obscenity, and we have to finish this chapter," said Taliban spokesman Ahsanullah Ahsan by telephone. "We have carried out this attack.".....

Incidentally, I read at one of the Syria forums that there are two rebel battalions in Syria going by the name of USA's sworn old foe ... Saddam Hussein.   HAHAHAHAHAHA   Talk about an upside down world!!   The  USA is giving weapons and logistics support  to Saddam Hussein's battalions.  It can't get any richer than that.  HAHAHAHAHAH

Madeline Weld on the myths of Canada's "need" for more immigrants

Jason Kenney has been deceiving us but being the likable person that he is, Conservatives don't want to admit that the man has been responsible for importing close to two million immigrants on his watch so far.   And, his watch is far from over.  You can expect a lot more immigrants from Afghanistan, Libya and other Muslim countries,  and YES, again on this same Minister's watch while he tries to allay  Canadians' apprehensiveness to the new breed of immigrants from the Muslim countries by pretending that the bulk of new immigrants will come from European countries like Ireland.  I am willing to bet my bottom dollar that at the end of 2012, if the government gives us an accurate figure on the immigration numbers, the large percentage of new immigrants will be again from the Muslim countries of the Middle East and Africa.  Anybody wanna take me on, on that statement?

Here are the figures from 1984 to 2008  ...  the Coservatives gained a minority govt from 2006 until  election day 2011 at which time they won a majority.

Here are the figures from 2008 to 2010     (see for yourselves how Jason Kenney has increased the immigrant quota.  Don't forget that he has been the Minister of Immigration from 2008 and the previous two years were also in somewhat similar mandates.   Look minutely at the figures for the  "Economic class immigrants"  those immigrants who have the money sans the language skills and oft times lack the kind of  skills and temperament that would  benefit Canada, can enter the country only because of their money.  Which countries, pray tell, would those immigrants be coming from if not from the oil rich Arab countries?

Here are the preliminary  numbers for 2011.   How does more than a quarter mil new immigrants in 2011 gel with you.... especially you folks who have lost your jobs from the start of the recession and are still  unemployed?

Yup ... Every so often policy wonks or talking heads  hyperventilate about Canada's need for more people. The growth boosters take the crude numbers for Canada's land surface area (about 9.1 million square kilometers) and divide it by Canada's population (34 million) and conclude that there's a desperate shortage of people, a paltry 3.3 per square kilometer. In the summer of 2010, no amount of coverage seemed too much for a proposal by Irvin Studin that Canada could better meet its potential and have more international clout if there were 100 million of us. In January of 2011, Canada's nationally read paper, the Globe and Mail, printed an editorial by Neil Reynolds called "Go forth, multiply and fill the provinces" which urged Canadians to do exactly that.

Such ecological illiteracy in an era when we are allegedly all becoming more aware about the human impact on the environment is stunning. The best explanation that I can think of for the media promoting such ideas is that the media tend to be owned by those who benefit from growth. Most Canadians do not.Satellite images of the world at night do show that most of Canada is as dark and uninhabited as Antarctica. But a bit of thought would lead to the conclusion that those parts of Canada are "underpopulated" for the same reason that Antarctica is: they are inhospitable to humans. Moving people to Canada's "empty" spaces would significantly raise their energy consumption and greenhouse gas production - and Canada's are already among highest in the world.

Each new Canadian, whether arriving through the maternity ward or the airport, is highly likely to live in the southern part of Canada. With our current low birth rate (averaging 1.6 children per woman), population growth is driven by immigration. Canada receives one-quarter to half a million newcomers annually, including immigrants, "temporary" workers, students and refugees. Most settle in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal, and only a handful settle outside Canada's 12 largest urban centres. Our large cities are already bursting at the seams with increasing congestion and smog and ever more stressed infrastructure, and have trouble dealing with their own wastes. When one considers the parts of Canada that are realistically capable of supporting a large population, they are already densely populated. Canada has lost over 15,000 square kilometres of farmland to urbanization. This loss is irreplaceable and farmland constitutes only about 5% of Canada's surface area. How smart is it to demolish one's own food security?.....

......The earnings of the average Canadian have remained essentially unchanged since 1980 (despite Canada growing by 10 million people since then), while those of the richest have risen substantially and those of the poorest have fallen substantially. The policy of hyper-immigration initiated in the early 1990s has had very little impact on the age structure of the general population or of the workforce. As for those pensions we've been promised: as a result of our generous system of social support and other (e.g., language training) programs, newcomers now receive tens of billions of dollars more from the government than they pay in taxes each year. Many immigrants of recent decades lack the skills (including an adequate knowledge of English or French) needed to work in Canada, and are lagging far behind established Canadians in their earnings. Unlike newcomers of earlier generations, they are not catching up. And, to use Reynolds' terminology, it is an "absurd delusion" to think that people working at a low-paying "McJob" or even two will be paying anyone's pension.....

....Canada has no good reason to increase its population and many reasons not to. The economic reasons to do so are bogus and the negative environmental impact is evident. Canada should set an example to the world by stabilizing its own population and supporting ethical family planning efforts in its foreign aid.....

Frederic Edwin Church .... Dreamy Landscapes

The works of one of the very best of American painters, are to be found on the 2nd level of the American Art Museum in Washington, DC.

The generous country of the United States of America has free admission to almost every museum, gallery and monument.  Not like how  France, Italy, Canada and others milk visitors and citizens alike for stepping inside their  museums. Canada's museums are sadly wanting but yet one has to pay hefty sums to walk inside them. What a shame.

Isn't it strange that the governments of  these same countries  who put a toll on their citizens to get a bit of  education in the Arts are at the same time of  the opinion that large amounts of funds should be directed to the supposedly "third world" countries for the education of the masses there while their own citizens can remain blissfully dumb?

Another thing worth noting while I am at it, is this:  I did not see a single piece in any of the museums and galleries that we visited in Washington, DC and the vicinity of it,  that did not have a description of the item and the original owner it was obtained from and whether it was a donation or not.  Not like the museums in the United Kingdom, France and Italy.  All three have robbed blind the countries they used to occupy and the treasures they display in their museums are treasures they have plundered from India, Egypt, Damascus, Greece, Nepal, China, Tibet and several other countries where the invaders and their explorers took advantage of the native population to deprive them of their artwork and thus part of their heritage.

The French have even carted two huge pillars weighing probably several tonnes each  from one of the Middle East countries they were in control of  ... and these two pillars are now standing in their main museum in Paris.  Shame.

Now back to Frederic Church.

Church was born in Hartford, Connecticut in 1826 and died in New York in 1900.  His visit to Ecuador gave birth to some of his most amazing paintings of almost outer worldly landscapes with the most meticulous touch to details.

In 1868,  he and his wife travelled to the Middle East and covered the modern day Syria, Israel, Egypt, Lebanon and surrounding areas.  Their travels to the Muslim regions seem to have been for only three months but the Churches were so impressed by what they saw in the Middle East they designed their own home in Hudson, NewYork  based on the architecture of a house they had seen in Damascus. 

You will want to gaze at some of his paintings and wonder how many years and how many millions of times his brush must have touched the canvas until he was fully satisfied that he had not forgotten anything that his eyes had seen.

I kept musing aloud to Kia on how if I was stinking rich I would have loved to have one of Church's painting in my bedroom and would look at it before dozing off to sleep and hope to dream that I was floating aloft in one of his landscapes.

The reproductions of his works are many and are sold from the low 100s to the high 500s.  The posters and prints are sold from anywhere between $5 - 25.

Hollywood will not make movies without first obtaining approval from imams

....Film-makers in Hollywood are terrified   of inciting further retribution against America over a string of new films showing the US mission to kill Osama Bin Laden.

The shooting for two films is complete and they are scheduled for release before Christmas, with a third awaiting the go-ahead. All are under scrutiny after protests across the Islamic world and the killing of the US ambassador in the Libyan city of Benghazi over the anti-Islam US film on Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), according to the Daily Express.

At least one fearful studio has asked an Islamic cleric to vet its script. Senior executives at another studio have entered into intense briefing sessions with US State Department officials to minimise or expunge any content which otherwise might be viewed as offensive.

Filmmakers are worried that fundamentalists could target cinemas where the films are playing, with one admitting: “We are even asking if we dare release anything on this subject.”

Saw the movie "The Rite"   a few days ago and then read up on prime loon, Fr. Gary Thomas of California.  The book, "The Rite: The Making of a Modern Exorcist" by Matt Baglio was the inspiration  for  the movie.  The idiot Father Thomas is supposed to be a "Certified exorcist" by decree of the Roman Catholic Church.  Yup, he is "certified" alright!!    A "Certified Lunatic"  who should be locked up or defrocked before he pollutes the minds  of young people around him.



Why does the Catholic church work so hard at ridiculousness ?   If only it put half that effort into getting Catholic sluts and studs to appreciate the sacrament of marriage and not have kids out of wedlock ... now that would be doing a whole lot of good.

I don’t know if I am an “extremist”, but I certainly have an extreme fear about the course that recent events have taken. When the leader of the so-called “free world” can stand before the dictators of the United Nations and say that “The future does not belong to those who insult the Prophet of Islam” you know that we are in deep trouble. That was a defining moment of history. As was Obama’s refusal to meet with the Israeli Prime Minister just so he could appear on a TV talk show. And the celebratory response of the left-wing consensus media and the Opposition to the announcement that jihadist murderer Omar Khadar had been allowed back to Canada.

The tide has turned. Islam is winning the intellectual jihad. It has now smelled blood. Western civilization and its governing principles are on the run—-thanks in large part to the Left, which spent decades preparing the groundwork for thought control by persuading lawmakers that there exists a fundamental right “not to be offended” and that the test of “offensive” language resides in the subjective judgment of the identity group that chooses to take offence. Contemporary discourse is now about how people “feel” rather than what they “think”. The content of speech is now less important than the imputed motive or emotion embedded in it. If it is deemed “hateful” or “insulting” then it should be proscribed. End of story. How convenient for orthodoxy....

Mr Al Marayarti is well known as a founder of the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC). He is also known for his statements suggesting that the state of Israel was behind the 9/11 atrocities. His presence as part of the United States delegation illustrates clearly why we are concerned about the apparent flirtation between the United States Government and the Muslim Brotherhood and that Government’s apparent willingness to back initiatives of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) that would undermine the First Amendment rights of American citizens.

There has been a massive push in recent years to put severe restrictions on freedom of expression due to a combination of OIC agitation and the desire of Western governments to restrict criticism of their unpopular and highly damaging polices. Initiatives such as UNHCR resolution 16/18 purport to confront religious persecution but in reality help to facilitate it. It is clear that such a resolution promoted by the OIC which has member states guilty of some of the most blatant acts of religious persecution is not aimed at preventing persecution. It must be remembered that it is freedom of expression that guarantees freedom of religion and not the other way around. Restrictions that are placed on freedom of expression are therefore likely to result in severe restrictions being placed on freedom of religion...........

The ongoing sad saga of the Standing Committee on Immigration & Citizenship's disgraceful and hateful behaviour towards Canadians' fundamental right to Freedom of Speech

I am glad to see that  many Canadian citizens are appalled at the totally horrendous treatment that the  NDP's Jinny Sims and other committee members meted out to  Madi and Julien Lassier of the  CIReport.  In my opinion, NDP MP Jinny Sims should have the decency to resign and the Conservative MP Chungsen Leung should  send a written apology to the  Lussiers.  Anything less is an affront to all fair-minded Canadians.

Is It a Liberal Value to Silence Opposition?  Back in June, the organisers of the Canadian Immigration Report (CIR) were invited to appear as witnesses before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration to present arguments in support of Bill C-31, also known as the Protecting Canada’s Immigration System Act. The bill, sponsored by the Minister of Citizenship, Immigration, and Multiculturalism, Jason Kenney, is aimed at introducing important changes in the refugee system in order to cut down the number of bogus claims. The CIR witnesses were scheduled to make a ten-minute opening presentation and answer questions from Committee members of the rest of the hour.

After being rescheduled six times, the meeting was finally to take place on Wednesday 26 September. The following day, the CIR reported:

We made the long drive to Parliament Hill and just a moment after entering the meeting room, a clerk informed us that our time had been given to someone else and that we were not to appear before the committee.After leaving the room, journalists who were already apprised of the situation informed us that the topic of our presentation was deemed inappropriate and had several screen captures of our website on hand.

It seems the Liberal and New Democratic Party (NDP) members of the Committee acted to exclude the CIR witnesses from the debate. According to CBC News,

[a]t the meeting’s outset, NDP immigration critic Jinny Sims drew attention to some of the material on the site, including stories defending so-called white nationalism and video clips from Canadian white supremacist Paul Fromm, among others.

“Mr. Chair, I am quite shocked that government members have asked this group to testify before us,” she said. “I would hope that you would agree with me that these views don’t have any place at a parliamentary committee in one of the most diverse, open and accepting countries on Earth.”

The Conservatives requested the committee move in-camera to discuss the matter, and then agreed to drop the witnesses from the day’s proceedings. Not satisfied, Conservative MP Chungsen Leung is reported to have declared afterwards in relation to the CIR:

“The views stated in their website are disgusting, and anti-Canadian, and I’m outraged by them. So as a result, I have asked the clerk that they be pulled [from the committee list].”

Needless to say that this should not surprise anyone who is aware of the politics of ‘immigration’ and multiculturalism in the modern West.

Romney was great, but something's bugging Obama

My gut instincts are usually 90% on the mark.  Something is eating away at Obama.  He is terrified about something, either something being disclosed to the public or some personal threat or blackmail ... something is definitely not okay with the man.  Did you see how he kept blinking his eyes?  I have never noticed that in any of his other times on the podium.   Also, his smiles were all fake and it took effort to bring them on.   I have to confess that midway I started feeling a teeny-weeny sorry for the man.  Could it be that he is just fed up with the presidency and the mountain of unbelievable blunders that have not stopped piling up from the day he took over the reins of the USA and wants out but doesn't want to look like a quitter?

Maine mayor a little too late with "Leave your culture at the door"

That prerogative should have come as a prerequisite for immigrants desiring to settle in North America.  It's a bit too late now when the ship has already started sinking.  White men have only white men to blame.  You created the dirt  bed yourselves.... now wallow in it to your heart's content.

Ten years after a Lewiston mayor set off a firestorm by saying the city's Somali population was growing too fast, a new mayor's remarks about the immigrant community is sparking another wave of anger and calls for his resignation.

Somali immigrants and their supporters in this former mill city in central Maine say Mayor Robert Macdonald should apologize and step down for what they call repeated anti-immigrant remarks, including telling a British Broadcasting Corp. interviewer that immigrants should "accept our culture and leave your culture at the door."

A group of about 50 protesters rallied outside City Hall on Thursday before delivering 1,400 petitions to Macdonald's office, asking for his resignation.

The mayor's remarks sounded like he was telling immigrants to abandon their religion, their language and their identities, said Nimo Yonis, 26, one of an about 6,000 Somali refugees who live in Lewiston and the neighboring city of Auburn. The mayor's words were painful, hurtful and "represent hate," she said.
"Basically, he's telling us to forget who we were," Yonis said. "Just leaving your culture at the door is leaving what you believe, what you stand for and who you are at the door."

Macdonald has attempted to clarify his comments, saying immigrants should try to assimilate into American culture. He has said his comments were taken out of context, and has claimed he never said anything derogatory about Somalis........

Paul Fromm .... who according to our "superiors" is a "White Supremacist"

In the video interview that was conducted by CIReport, Fromm says on immigration:

  "Every person who enters the country is a slap in the face of unemployed Canadians..."

I have been saying that since I lost my job more than three years ago.  It took me until now to realize that I am a Supremacist too ... albeit not a "white" one  ... because as I read up on Paul Fromm I found that many of his thoughts and opinions are akin to mine.

It's the same video that was largely responsible for the couple operating the CIReport website getting banned from presenting to the Standing Committee on Citizenship & Immigration and their website labelled as "disgusting" and "hateful" by all three political parties that make up the Government of Canada... the cowardly Conservatives, the loony Liberals and the communist NDP.

I found a video of Fromm talking on the loony tunes decision of the totally mad Toronto District School Board's decision to have "blacks only" schools ...and   I found myself agreeing with almost everything he said.  So ... that does it.  I am a confirmed "Supremacist" of some sort.   Never invite me to any committee, don't visit my blog, don't link to me, avoid me like the plague....I beg you.  I am not a conformist and never will be.   Nobody can ever influence my thoughts and opinions .... NOBODY.



I haven't listened to all his videos on YouTube.  Maybe there will be something like the madness that spurts from David Duke and the other Stormfront guys somewhere in those tapes.  Maybe this guy too thinks that Jews control the USA and Canada and all the financial institutions in the world and that they control the media, blah, blah, blah.  So what ?!!!   We have possession of our own minds and the capacity to judge and discern, don't we???  Are we going to be hypnotize by all the drivel from their mouths and start thinking like the anti-Semites among them?   The Canadian society treating him as persona non grata is not the way to go.  The right way is to debate him about his views and opinions that you don't like or agree with.

And, furthermore,  so what if he's a member of Stormfront, the supposedly "major hate site" on planet earth???    We listen and watch much worse from the Muslim hate sites.  That's tolerable... but not Stormfront?   Give me a break !!!!

Lalla Essaydi .... Makes the right statement via her work but gives a false explanation for it

We caught Lalla Essaydi exhibition at the National Museum of African Art  in Washington DC.  Essaydi's  a Moroccan-born photographer living in New York and is making an impact with her amazingly beautiful art  which depicts Muslim women living under Shariah or Islam.

No matter how many different explanations Essaydi gives for  her work which has a patina of Arabic text scrawled all over it, her unique work speaks  for itself and conveys a story  that is  far from what Essaydi the cowardly but talented painter wants us to believe is the inspiration that spawned the works.  The written word from the  false book known as the koran, written by madmen, is the tool for keeping  Muslim women locked up in cages ....  and to anyone with a clear eye, that is what Essaydi has shown by the patina of Arabic calligraphy on each and every painting. It's the written word ...it's the Arabic calligraphy. In some paintings the text look like prison walls with tiny openings just like the tiny openings for the eyes for women wearing burkhas.   Every painting where a woman is portrayed is painted to look like she is  imprisoned behind a wall of Arabic lettering.

I put my perception of her paintings to my travelling companion Kia for her reaction and she agreed with me that  Essaydi is the kind of  person who ddn't want to create any waves by speaking out against the Muslim mentality that imprisons women from birth to death and maybe even beyond.  That's two against your false explanation, Ms Essaydi.  Grow a straighter spine, girl... keeping your feet in two boats will tear you apart sooner than you think.



The supposedly "feminist" artist says this about her work:  "In my art, I wish to present myself through multiple lenses -- as artist, as Moroccan, as Saudi, as traditionalist, as Liberal, as Muslim. In short, I invite the viewer to resist stereotypes.”

And, this;

The traditions of Islam exist within spatial boundaries. The presence of men defines public space, the streets, the meeting places. Women are confined to private spaces, the architecture of the homes. In these photographs, I am constraining women within space, confining them to their "proper" place, a place bounded by walls and controlled by men. Their confinement is a decorative one. The women, then, become literal with this visual confinement, I recall literal confinements. The house in the photographs is a large, unoccupied house belonging to my extended family. When a young woman disobeyed, stepped outside the permissible space, she was sent to this house. Accompanied by servants, but spoken to by no one, she would spend a month alone. In this silence, women can only be confined visions of femininity. In photographing women inscribed with henna, I emphasize their decorative role, but subvert the silence of confinement. These women "speak" visually to the house and to each other, creating a space that is both hierarchical and fluid. Furthermore, the calligraphic writing, a sacred Islamic art form, inaccessible to women, constitutes an act of rebellion.

Applying such writing in henna, a form of adornment considered "women’s work," further underscores the subversiveness of the act. In this way, the calligraphy in the images is one of a number of visual signs that carry a double meaning. As an artist now living in the West, I have become aware of another space, besides the house of my girlhood, an interior space, one of "converging territories." I will always carry that house within me, but my current life has added other dimensions. There is the very different space I inhabit in the West, a space of independence and mobility. It is from there that I can return to the landscape of my childhood in Morocco, and consider these spaces with detachment and new understanding. When I look at these spaces now, I see two cultures that have shaped me and that are distorted when looked at through the "Orientalist" lens of the West. Thus the text in these images is partly autobiographical. In it, I speak of my thoughts and experiences directly, both as a woman caught somewhere between past and present, as well as between "East" and "West," and also as an artist, exploring the language in which to "speak" from this uncertain space.

And, then comes this:

“My message would be: Arab women  are not so much oppressed as the Western World thinks. We are women incredibly engaged in our lives, to have a better life,”

Talk about a split personality !!!   Let's hope her work is bought by many more of those Arab millionaires who are presumably her biggest clients.  She knows how to sell her artwork by not displeasing anyone.  Money, money, money .... makes the world go round.

Fuck you TSA and Homeland Security and damn you to hell

On my return home to Toronto from my jaunt to the USA,  I found that there was no lock on  my wheelie.  At first I thought that I must have forgotten to lock it and probably left the little tiny lock back in the hotel room.  But, on unzipping the bag, lo and behold, my lock was amongst my dirty laundry (in fact the entire bag was mostly full of dirty, smelly clothes)  and the lock was cut, which I noticed in the next flitting moment.

It's amazing how many different thoughts go through your mind in just one tiny moment.  I went from "stupid me, not only did I not lock the wheelie, I dropped the lock in it, idiot"    "huh ... how did the lock snap like that?"   "what the fuck...did someone break into my wheelie"  "fuck it ... did someone steal something?"  "what, what?"

And, then among all the mess of catalogs, brochures, books, dirty clothes,  complimentary toiletries, tea and coffee sachets from the hotels, my Starbucks plastic coffee mug, a half consumed vodka bottle and my sandals,  I find a note from the TSA.

Dear folks,  this is what the world has come to.... and all because of muslims.  I find it's unnatural not to hate the whole lot of them for the mess they have made of the entire world.  I don't care that statistics show that only a small percentage are the rotten apples ... but have you forgotten what  one rotten apple can do to a sackful of   "maybe okay" ones?

The fucking brain-dead TSA morons at Virginia's Dulles International Airport broke the lock on my little wheelie because they saw something that looked suspicious.  I am presuming that it was the partly consumed vodka bottle or maybe the toiletries I had stuffed in the coffee mug to save space.

So.... because of muslims and their murdering ways, ordinary citizens of the world cannot even carry a bottle of water which is more than 200 ml in their handbag and if they carry  a bottle of liquid which looks like it is more than 200 ml in their checked baggage, then chances are your privacy is gonna be invaded  because a TSA pervert will break the lock on your suitcase and will go through your underwear ... dirty or not.

The world has changed, and not for the better.  Furthermore, brace yourselves .... it's going to get much worse.

.....In the prepared version distributed to reporters, Obama’s speech ends this way:

“America is going to survive. We won’t forget where we came from. We won’t forget what happened 19 months ago, 15 years ago, thousands of years ago.”

That’s not what he actually said. Before the audience at Hampton, Obama ends his speech this way:

“America will survive. Just like black folks will survive. We won’t forget where we came from. We won’t forget what happened 19 months ago, or 15 years ago, or 300 years ago.”

Three hundred years ago. It’s a reference the audience understood.

Ousmane Sow ... From malleable stuff to works of greatness

Back from a  trip to galleries, museums, monuments and whatnot littering the landscape of  Washington DC and vicinity.  Didn't concern myself with politics at all and surprisingly didn't miss the internet nor the news....not even by one teeny-weeny bit.     I made myself think and behave like the 75% of the world's population who does not give a damn about the antics of the politicians or the trickery of the political parties or listen, read or know anything about the ongoing state of  the world.  It was so liberating.

My companion was a Know-It-All from my family, whom I will name Kia for the purposes of this post and others to follow.

We were lucky to catch the exhibition of Ousmane Sow's  sculptures at one of the Smithsonian houses of  treasures.  The Smithsonian has organized an "African Mosaic"  which is a  crowd puller ... amazing and  truly wonderful works from  Sow and countless  other African artists.  We also got to watch a short documentary on Ousmane Sow.  The  Senegalese sculptor  divides his time between Paris and Senegal and most of his works are created in Senegal.   He has truly  taken the contemporary art scene by the throat and is making  people sit  up and take notice.

His 7-foot sculpture of Toussaint Louverture  (didn't know who he was until I saw the sculpture)  who was born into bondage in Haiti but rose to become the leader of the revolution that freed the slaves and made them into self-governing citizens of Haiti ... is something really awesome.  More awesome than all the works is how the sculptor sculpts and the materials he uses.  Ousmane Sow uses any kind of  material he can find ... straw, jute, fibre, etc.  and mixes it with rebar metals to a malleable gooey paste and uses his fingers to sculpt and mold figures of man and animal with this never before applied  medium.



I have to  go through the notes I made to help me recall most of what we saw, touched and read about.  I have to also check our cameras to see if  we captured any pics of Sow's work.  Maybe, I will update this post at a later date with more.
