Turkey's in the oven ... July, August 2018

All anti-Erdogan folks are invited to the feast. Never forget that Erdogan's Turkey was one of the main culprits in the destruction of its neighbour Syria. Karma has come calling on Erdogan and the Erdogan-minded Turks!!!  In one of the items below you will see the kind of military equipment Turkey produces and (very quietly) has been selling to UAE and others.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on Tuesday ruled out his country's compliance with U.S. sanctions on Iran, a move that threatens to exacerbate tensions between the NATO allies.
"We have told them we will not join these sanctions," said Cavusoglu, referring to a meeting last Friday with senior U.S. officials in Ankara. "While we are explaining why we will not obey these sanctions, we have also expressed that we do not find these U.S. sanctions appropriate."...

Sprawled at the very eastern end of the Mediterranean, Turkey is the farthest from the Atlantic of any of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s 29 member states.
Those 2,000 miles are also fast coming to symbolize a looming chasm between the crucial 69-year-old alliance and its leading partner, the United States, and that Middle Eastern land of 80 million as it slides into deeper authoritarianism under Tayyip Erdogan, and perhaps into the Russian orbit...

Fresh off the heels of being temporarily, at least, denied its F-35 fighter jets in the 2019 National Defense Authorization Act, Turkish government officials are in full-blown crisis mode, desperately trying to convince the American public and lawmakers that Turkey is a reliable ally that is being wrongly treated. Germany considering emergency assistance to Turkey in wake of US sanctions: report
Germany is considering offering Turkey emergency aid funds as U.S. sanctions continue to wreak havoc on the Turkish economy.
“We would do a lot to try to stabilize Turkey,” a senior German official said, according to The Wall Street Journal. “We don’t have much choice.”
Berlin is still discussing what measures it will take, but is considering everything from a coordinated European bailout like that used in the eurozone debt crisis to project-specific loans by state-controlled development banks and bilateral aid....

Our world is ruled by drunk on power psychopaths and nothing shows it more clearly than the persecution of Julian Assange

The USA is hellbent on taking revenge on the man whose only aim was to slap us sheeple into taking more notice of what's happening to us and around us and helped many of us from walking willy-nilly into zombie territory.  For that benefit to mankind, the psychos we have elected to high office, will not ever forgive him or his kind.

From ConsortiumNews:
Kafka-like Persecution of Julian Assange
In an era when powerful institutions demonize decent people – and the mainstream media joins in, piling on the abuse – legal proceedings have become another Kafka-esque weapon of coercion. Few cases are more troubling than the persecution of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, as John Pilger describes.

By John Pilger
The siege of Knightsbridge is both an emblem of gross injustice and a grueling farce. For three years, a police cordon around the Ecuadorean embassy in London has served no purpose other than to flaunt the power of the state. It has cost £12 million (about $18.7 million). The quarry is an Australian charged with no crime, a refugee whose only security is the room given him by a brave South American country. His “crime” is to have initiated a wave of truth-telling in an era of lies, cynicism and war.

The persecution of Julian Assange is about to flare again as it enters a dangerous stage. From Aug. 20, three quarters of the Swedish prosecutor’s case against Assange regarding sexual misconduct in 2010 will disappear as the statute of limitations expires. At the same time Washington’s obsession with Assange and WikiLeaks has intensified. Indeed, it is vindictive American power that offers the greatest threat – as Chelsea Manning and those still held in Guantanamo can attest.

The Americans are pursuing Assange because ............

USA, Canada, the EU and Australia importing millions of Muslims, but entry to one Christian nun is denied ???

When Muslims take over these countries (and you know they will ... perhaps not in our day unless you are an infant now in 2015) and impose shariah on all, who do you think your descendants will blame?  They will blame you and the politicians you supported  and they will blame the masterminds responsible for the Middle East wars and the ensuing exodus of the Middle Easterns and African workers from there ... to the West.  You know who the warmongering masterminds are but my guess is,  the sand dune you have your heads lodged into is a comfortable place to hide in from the truth.

But why worry eh?  Let's be like our Finance Minister who said something to the effect of ".... let Harper's grandchildren worry about that..." on something relating to debt.

Nina Shea writing at NationalReview:
With Malice Toward Nun

Sister Diana wants to tell Americans about ISIS persecution of Christians in Iraq, but the State Department won’t let her in.

Why is the United States barring a persecuted Iraqi Catholic nun — an internationally respected and leading representative of the Nineveh Christians who have been killed and deported by ISIS — from coming to Washington to testify about this catastrophe?

Earlier this week, we learned that every member of an Iraqi delegation of minority groups, including representatives of the Yazidi and Turkmen Shia religious communities, has been granted visas to come for official meetings in Washington — save one. The single delegate whose visitor visa was denied happens to be the group’s only Christian from Iraq. Sister Diana Momeka of the Dominican Sisters of Saint Catherine of Siena was informed on Tuesday by the U.S. consulate in Erbil that her non-immigrant-visa application has been rejected. The reason given in the denial letter, a copy of which I have obtained, is:
You were not able to demonstrate that your intended activities in the United States would be consistent with the classification of the visa.
She told me in a phone conversation that, to her face, consular officer Christopher Patch told her she was denied because she is an “IDP” or Internally Displaced Person. “That really hurt,” she said. Essentially, the State Department was calling her a deceiver..........

The State Department Responds to NR’s Report on Sister Diana Momeka
The State Department is apparently trying to cover up an embarrassing, politically damaging, and possibly discriminatory act. In an e-mail sent to me on Thursday, Kathryn Fitrell, press-unit chief of the Office of Policy Coordination and Public Affairs with State’s Bureau of Consular Affairs, requested that I revise the text of my National Review article on the denial of a visitor visa to Sister Diana Momeka. I refused, and then on Friday — as the Department honored World Press Freedom Day — the Bureau contacted my employer, the Hudson Institute, with the same request. DOS has offered no legitimate reason for us to comply. I reported Sister Diana’s account of a conversation.............

The wonderful world of Israel the war machine

Here's another delightful tale about Israel.
Below you will find some very insightful paragraphs from John Pilger's recent article which is adapted from the Edward Said Memorial Lecture, delivered in Adelaide, Australia, on 11 September 2014.
The vids are from several similar found on YouTube which bring to light the wonderful loving, caring nature of the Jewish Israelis towards Israeli and Palestinian Christians.

"There is a taboo," said the visionary Edward Said, "on telling the truth about Palestine and the great destructive force behind Israel. Only when this truth is out can any of us be free."

For many people, the truth is out now. At last, they know. Those once intimidated into silence can't look away now. Staring at them from their TV, laptop, phone, is proof of the barbarism of the Israeli state and the great destructive force of its mentor and provider, the United States, the cowardice of European governments, and the collusion of others, such as Canada and Australian, in this epic crime.

The attack on Gaza was an attack on all of us. The siege of Gaza is a siege of all of us. The denial of justice to Palestinians is a symptom of much of humanity under siege and a warning that the threat of a new world war is growing by the day.......

.......For years, reporters have watched Israeli soldiers bait Palestinian children by abusing them through loud-speakers. Then they shoot them dead. For years, reporters have known about Palestinian women about to give birth and refused passage through a roadblock to a hospital; and the baby has died, and sometimes the mother.

For years, reporters have known about Palestinian doctors and ambulance crews given permission by Israeli commanders to attend the wounded or remove the dead, only to be shot through the head.

For years, reporters have known about stricken people prevented from getting life-saving treatment, or shot dead when they've tried to reach a clinic for chemotherapy treatment. One elderly lady with a walking stick was murdered in this way - a bullet in her back.....

....In one of my films, a Palestinian cameraman, Imad Ghanem, lies helpless while soldiers from the "most moral army in the world" blew both his legs off. This atrocity was given two lines on the BBC website. Thirteen journalists were killed by Israel in its latest bloodfest in Gaza. All were Palestinian. Who knows their names?

Something is different now. There is a huge revulsion across the world; and the voices of sensible liberalism are worried. Their hand wringing and specious choir of "equal blame" and "Israel's right to defend itself" will not wash any more; neither will the smear of anti-Semitism. Neither will their selective cry that "something must be done" about Islamic fanatics but nothing must be done about Zionist fanatics.....

......The most incessant propaganda says Hamas is committed to the destruction of Israel. Khaled Hroub, the Cambridge University scholar considered a world leading authority on Hamas, says this phrase is "never used or adopted by Hamas, even in its most radical statements". The oft-quoted "anti-Jewish" 1988 Charter was the work of "one individual and made public without appropriate Hamas consensus... The author was one of the 'old guard' "; the document is regarded as an embarrassment and never cited.

Hamas has repeatedly offered a 10-year truce with Israel and has long settled for a two-state solution. When Medea Benjamin, the fearless Jewish American activist, was in Gaza, she carried a letter from Hamas leaders to President Obama that made clear the government of Gaza wanted peace with Israel. It was ignored. I personally know of many such letters carried in good faith, ignored or dismissed......

........In 1937, with Adolf Hitler in power, Geoffrey Dawson, editor of The Times in London, wrote the following in his diary: "I spend my nights in taking out anything which will hurt [German] susceptibilities and in dropping in little things which are intended to soothe them."

On 30 July, the BBC offered viewers a masterclass in the Dawson Principle. The diplomatic correspondent of the programme Newsnight, Mark Urban, gave five reasons why the Middle East was in turmoil. None included the historic or contemporary role of the British government. The Cameron government's dispatch of £8 billion worth of arms and military equipment to Israel was airbrushed. Britain's massive arms shipment to Saudi Arabia was airbrushed. Britain's role in the destruction of Libya was airbrushed. Britain's support for the tyranny in Egypt was airbrushed.

As for the British invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan, they didn't happen, either........

The ISIS/ISIL/IS/xyz wahhabi jihadist army take women of Tal Afar to sell as slaves after killing their men ...

this is now our cruel new world, folks.  Remember to say a silent "Thank You" to the nations that have made this possible.  The nations of the USA, Israel, UK, Canada, Australia and most of the EU .... by training, arming and funding the jihadists.

When I first read the news, I thought it was just propaganda from Iraq as the Iraqi govt. is desperately looking for foreign help to take on the jihadists.  But on looking further into it,  the terrible events  in Tal Afar as stated by the Iraqi site must  indeed be true as the Luxembourg mission which is a member of UN security council (see second link) has come out with a statement on ISIS crimes in Tal Afar without actually going into the details.  I fail to see how just issuing statements can help these poor ethnic folks in Iraq.  Unbelievable things are happening to these people and all because they were born in the wrong country and are too poor and illiterate to find the means to get themselves out of those hellholes.

From IraqiNews:
Red Crescent claims ISIL detained more than 100 Christian, Yahzidi families at Tal Afar airport, killed all the men, herded women to unknown place to sell them as slaves
The Iraqi Red Crescent Society revealed, on Monday, that the organization of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant had transferred Christian and Yahzidi women to an unknown place after they detained them and their families at Tal Afar airport to sell them as “slaves.”

The Assistant Secretary-General of the association, Mohammed Alkhozai said, in an interview for IraqiNews.com, that “elements of ISIL detained more than 100 families at the Tal Afar airport; killing all the men, while they kept the women and children.”
Alkhozai indicated that “the elements of ISIL herded Yahzidi and Christian women to an unknown place with the aim of selling them as slaves of an enemy.”
He described that “it is a crime against humanity and human rights,” noting that “The Red Crescent condemns this crime against civilians and it must be stopped.”
He declared that “we are a humanitarian organization. We condemn such crimes against humanity and we call for the international community to intervene. Also, we call for humanitarian organizations to intervene forcefully to stop these crimes.”

From NY UN MAE LU:
The members of the Security Council condemn the attacks on Sinjar and Tal Afar in Iraq’s Ninewa province by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and express their deep concern about the hundreds of thousands of Iraqis – many of them from vulnerable minority communities, especially Yezidis – displaced by ISIL’s attacks and in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.  The members of the Security Council note that these minority communities have lived for hundreds of years in Sinjar and elsewhere in Ninewa Province.  Many of these Iraqis have been displaced or forced to flee and seek refuge, while many others have been executed and kidnapped.

The members of the Security Council condemn in the strongest terms the systematic persecution of individuals from minority populations, including Christians, and those who refuse the extremist ideology of ISIL and associated armed groups.  The members of the Security Council call upon all of Iraq’s communities to unite to respond, with the support of the international community, to this violent and senseless threat to Iraq’s unity, identity and future.

The members of the Security Council note that the large-scale offensive carried out by ISIL in Iraq and Syria has a trans-border nature and affirm that ISIL poses a threat not only to these countries but to regional peace, security, and stability.......

Gaza Christians too become fodder for Israeli missiles from hell

Oh ....  you thought Palestinians were all Hamas terrorists, eh? You thought everybody in Gaza were Muslims, eh?  Think again.  Just like how the powers-that-be controlling the USA and the world media, had kept the number of Christians dying in Syria at the hands of the "rebels" they armed and funded, so too they are now doing here with this genocide going on in Gaza.

Are Christians collaborating with Israel? Perhaps. Are Christians fighting alongside Hamas? Perhaps. I just want people to know that Gaza's population has a Christian population too, maybe small but it's still there.  From a pic below,  it looks like Mother Theresa's organization has its nuns trying to help the Christians in Gaza. The old woman in the pic is a relative of a Christian lady killed by Israeli bombardment.
The second pic shows the Holy Family Catholic church in Gaza City.

Mohammed Omer writing at MiddleEastEye:
Solidarity between the Christian minority and Muslim majority is growing in Gaza as both suffer under the Israeli offensive, with churches sheltering all religions and
prayers being offered up on all sides

- Without prior warning, an Israeli missile hit the house of the Ayyad family last Saturday.
The Ayyads, who are Christian, were the first family among the tiny minority in Gaza to be targeted since
the offensive began three weeks ago.
The Ayyad’s home was severely damaged.....
...Jalila Ayyad was known among the people of Gaza as a woman that had nothing to do with any militia
groups. “We are a Christian minority and have no links to Hamas or Fatah - we keep to ourselves and
avoid problems,” says Fouad Ayyad, Jalila’s nephew.
Fouad is also the name of the bereaved husband of Jalila Ayyad. Standing in a white T-shirt stained with
the blood of his wife and son - who was also seriously injured in the attack - he watches on as the
nephew is interviewed........

From News24:
 ....Dwindling Christian community

A relative, George Ayyad, agreed wholeheartedly. He dismissed the idea that Jalila's death would force more of the already dwindling Christian population out of Gaza.
"If we leave, that's exactly what the Israelis want. Anyway, where are we supposed to go? This is my homeland," he said.

"We Christians have been in Gaza for more than 1 000 years, and we're staying."

Her nephew Fuad was not so sure.
"Things like this make me want to just get out of here," he said.

Gaza's Christians have dwindled in number to around 1 500, most of them Greek Orthodox, out of a predominantly Sunni Muslim population of 1.7 million in the densely packed enclave.
The Christian community in Gaza City, like its counterparts elsewhere in the Middle East, has been shrinking because of both conflict and unemployment.
The ancient Mediterranean seafront city once had a thriving Christian community, especially under British-mandated Palestine that ended in 1948 with the creation of the Jewish state.
Jalila's coffin was carried into the small church cemetery, which was itself hit by an Israeli shell earlier in the week, and lowered into the ground........

What the USA-armed and trained ISIS/ISIL/IS/xyz jihadis have done/are doing to Iraqi Christians

This is the misery that the USA-armed and trained jihadis have brought down on Christians in Iraq.  I hope you know by now that large segments of  the wahhabi terrorist army laying claim to almost half of Iraq are a product of the  training and funding provided to them by the USA and her allies  including Israel, ( see here and here for Israel's complicity in the training) with the sole purpose of fighting in Syria to oust Assad,  and while they are still trying to do that in Syria, they are simultaneously annexing large areas of Iraq and expelling, killing, converting, raping, etc, etc, the remaining Christians.

What a wonderful world of shortsighted warmongering politicians and their billionaire buddies!

Matthias Baun Brubaker Christensen writing at SyriaComment:
....Islamic state: a lion and a fox?

The Islamic State (formerly known as the Islamic State in Iraq and Sham) emerged out of the ashes of two conflicts. It was born as a result of the US invasion of Iraq in 2003 and then used the power vacuum created by the civil war in Syria to create a base out of which it could create the foundations for an emerging state. However, how likely are they to succeed in their goal of establishing a functioning state? In answering this question, it is crucial to understand their strategy: do they only operate based on ideological fervor, or does their strategy contain elements of realism? Machiavelli taught us that a successful prince should learn to be both a fox and a lion, does IS have the ability to act as both?

Machiavelli’s recommendations for Princes
The lion cannot protect himself from traps, and the fox cannot defend himself from wolves. One must therefore be a fox to recognize traps, and a lion to frighten wolves. Machiavelli, The Prince.
What did Machiavelli mean in his masterpiece, which for long has been essential reading on the reading list for all first year political science students? In the animal kingdom, a lion is the symbol of ultimate strength. It is the most powerful mammal on land that is feared by all other animals. However, the lion has a weakness, it is not intelligent enough to recognize the danger of traps.

A fox is also a predator, living off preying on other animals. However, the fox is cunning and calculating. It recognizes dangers when it feels uncomfortable in a new setting. A fox does not necessarily attack if it judges that it could result in it being in danger........

Dhimmi Pope Francis calls for prayers to save Iraqi Christians

I guess prayers are as effective as bullets and rockets and bombs.  Let's wait and see the results of those imaginary missiles against the real ones .... shall we?
In the meantime, the Christians in the affected areas of Iraq better make up your minds whether you wanna convert to the satanic side or leave your ancestral home with only the clothes on your back or stay put and leave this world for good to make your journey to that other imaginary paradise promised to you by Pope Francis.

Dhimmi Catholics ... you can't live with them and neither can you live without their innate goodness, peace, simplicity and belief.

Carol Glatz writing at CatholicReview:
Pope calls for prayers as militants chase all Christians out of Mosul
As the last Iraqi Christians in Mosul fled the city, Pope Francis urgently called for prayers, dialogue and peace.

"Violence isn't overcome with violence. Violence is conquered with peace," the pope said before leading thousands of pilgrims gathered in St. Peter's Square in a moment of silent prayer July 20.

"Our brothers and sisters are persecuted, they are chased away," he said, as he assured Christians in all of Iraq and the Middle East of his "constant prayers."

The pope's plea came as the last Christian families living in Mosul were forced from the city after facing increasing threats, violence and intimidation.

The Islamic State group, which has taken control of Mosul, Iraq's second-largest city, was threatening to kill any Christians who did not convert to Islam or pay a tax, Syriac Patriarch Ignace Joseph III Younan told Vatican Radio.

The militants in Mosul also burned to the ground the building housing the Syriac bishop's office, residence and library, and everything inside, he said July 19......

The ISIS/ISIL/xyz jihadi march in Iraq .... July 21

Below are the first few paragraphs from the situation report at the Vineyard of the Saker blog.

July 21st Iraq SITREP: Bloody Monday.
Quote of the day, Bhadrakumar on the Malaysian Plane Tragedy: The alacrity with which Obama scrambled to take early lead in the propaganda war over Moscow on Ukraine almost makes it appear he was expecting such a horrendous tragedy to happen
Thought of the day: Pity Sherlock Holmes did not have a case called the “dog that barked before the crime”

20th July: Government air strikes on Daash held Hawija have killed 10 civilians. Women and children are amongst the dead.

21st July: Daash terrorist attack and seize the Mar Behman Monastery near the Christian town of Qaraqosh, south east of Mosul. The terrorist forced the monks to leave the monastery wearing only their robes. The monastery dates back to the 4th Century and is a pilgrimage site. The monks are now safe with the Kurds but the relics at the monastery might be destroyed by Daash terrorist who refused the monks to carry any of them.
21st July: Three mortar rounds fired by insurgents fall within 60 meters of the Imam Al Askari (as) Shrine in Samarra.
21st July: Australian authorities have identified the Australian national suicide bomber who targeted a mosque in Baghdad on Thursday the 17th, as 18 year old Abu Bakr. The Australians are concerned as over 150 Australians are fighting in Iraq and Syria

Fighting between Daash and Ansar al Sunnah break out in Saadia over who will pay allegiance to whom (so many Caliphs these days, dime/Rolex a dozen). Six men from Ansar al Sunnah are killed and five from Daash. Daash is believed to have instigated the clashes after executing a leader within Ansar al Sunnah.
21st July: Daash uses explosives to demolish six houses belonging to security personnel in Metaibij, Diyala.
21st July: Tribal fighters in Sinjar, Nineveh have fought and taken control of the town from Daash rebels
21st July: Some sort of understanding has been reached between Baghdad and the Kurdish authorities in control of the Kirkuk oil fields. It allows the Kurds to pump 25000 barrels/day that had been secretly agreed upon by the federal government and Kurdish ones over a year ago. The provincial government was not informed of this arrangement. The understanding also calls for the repatriation of Kudish, Arab, and Turkoman workers to the oil fields.
21st July: Khanaqin in Diyala is preparing make shift camps to accommodate more than 4000 families displaced by Daash’s advance. The local authorities are complaining of very little assistance coming from the government in Baghdad. Muqdadiyah has another 800 refugees to look after......

Syria, Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq .... anybody interested how many dead in those countries?

While the focus is on Israel/Gaza/Ukraine/Russia .... what has been happening in Syria, Libya and Afghanistan, Iraq?  How many non-Palestinian deaths in those countries?  Anybody interested?

Far too many wars going on.  Far too many people getting killed.  Far too much suffering and sorrow.  **sigh**

From AP via Yahoo:
60 Syria soldiers dead  in battle with jihadists.
At least 60 soldiers have died as the army battles to retake a gas field in central Syria where jihadists killed 270 people, a pro-regime newspaper reported on Sunday......

From CNN:
Fighting intensifies  in Libya, airport control at stake.
Fierce fighting raged on the outskirts of Tripoli on Sunday as militias continued to battle for control of the airport in what's being called the worst fighting in Libya since the 2011 revolution.
Clashes were concentrated around the airport, the airport road and a number of residential areas where militias have fought over the past week, residents said.
At least five people have been killed, one local official said.
The latest assaults were launched by militias from the city of Misrata and an Islamist militia umbrella group in the capital known as the "Libyan Revolutionaries Operations Room."........

From Khaama:
At least three civilians were killed following a roadside bomb explosion in western Nimroz province of Afghanistan on Sunday.
Provincial governor spokesman, Ahmad Arab said the incident took place on Sunday morning in Chahar Boraj district.
Mr. Arab further added that three civilians were also injured following the explosion which includes women and children.......

From CNN:
Facing fines,  conversion or death, Christian families flee Mosul.
Just days after the militant group the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria said they killed hundreds of Syrians, dozens of Iraqi Christian families are now fleeing the ISIS-controlled city of Mosul, hoping to avoid a similar fate.
On Friday, the al Qaeda splinter group issued an ultimatum to Iraqi Christians living in Mosul -- by Saturday at noon (5 a.m. ET), they must convert to Islam, pay a fine or face "death by the sword."
A total of 52 Christian families left the city of Mosul early Saturday morning, with an armed group prohibiting some of them from taking anything but the clothes on their backs.
"They told us, 'You to leave all of your money, gold, jewelry and go out with only the clothes on you,'" Wadie Salim told CNN.........

From TheGuardian:
Iraqi civilian death toll passes 5,500   in wake of Isis offensive
United Nations report says rate of civilian deaths over first six months of 2014 shows sharp increase over previous year
The violence in Iraq has killed more than 5,500 civilians over the first six months of the year, according to a report by the United Nations that documents the massive humanitarian toll of the Sunni militant offensive.

The Islamic State (Isis) and other Sunni insurgents seized control of the city of Falluja, as well as part of nearby Ramadi in Anbar province in early January. The militants then launched an offensive in June that has brought a huge swath of northern and western Iraq under their control.

In its report, the UN mission to Iraq says at least 5,576 civilians were killed and another 11,665 wounded from 1 January until the end of June. Another 1.2 million have been driven from their homes by the violence, it adds.....

Facebook page "Liker" sentenced to 6 years, in the new and "improved" Egypt

Sad isn't it that one swollen head takes over another swollen head and so it goes on and on.  What we forget time and time again is that politicians are all sociopaths.  They wouldn't be where they are if they weren't Oscar winning actors, and what are actors anyway if not prime sociopaths?

From ChristianPost:
....Christians Convicted of 'Blasphemy' in Egypt for 'Liking' Facebook Page

A young Christian man in Upper Egypt accused of blaspheming Islam for "liking" a Facebook page was sentenced Tuesday (June 24) to six years in prison, shocking the Coptic community and other Facebook users.

Judge Hazim Hany of Armant Criminal Court found Kerolos Shouky Attallah, 29, of Al-Mahamid village near Luxor, guilty of violating two articles of the Egyptian Penal Code – Article 98F, defaming a divinely revealed religion, and Article 176, inciting sectarian violence.

Attallah was charged for "liking" an Arabic-language Facebook page administered by an anonymous group of Christian converts known as the Knights of the Cross. His attorney, Mohamed Ahmed Abd-Alaal, said Attallah did not make any comments on the site, share any of the postings or upload anything to it. Attallah promptly removed his name from the page once he realized the Facebook page offended some Muslims.

The guilty verdict and the severity of the sentence came as a surprise, said Safwat Samaan, chairman of Nation Without Borders, a human rights and development group headquartered in Luxor........

Ethnic cleansing underway in Iraq .... expect the remaining Christians to flee

and apply for migration to our supposedly "Christian" lands of the West.  Poor souls will realize that they saw more Christian values in the Muslim lands than they will see in countries like the USA, Canada, the UK and rest of the EU. The West has become a collective Babylon which is putting even the original Babylon to complete shame. Where's a volcano when you need one.

Just like there are no Christian citizens in Saudi Arabia, so also the army of terrorists funded and armed by Saudi Arabia and her allies, want Iraq to become .... especially now that they have failed to do so in Syria ... so far anyway. It's hard to imagine isn't it, that all those lands in the Middle East belonged to either Christians or Jews just a few centuries ago?

From BosNewsLife:
....With attacks ongoing, Pastor Haitham Jazrawi suggested that the city of 1.8 million people will soon have no or very few Christians. "Ninety-nine percent of the Christians have left Mosul,” he explained in published remarks.  Across Iraq, the Christian population has decreased from as many as 1.5 million to maximum 400,000 people in the last decade.

Open Doors, the aid and advocacy group supporting reportedly persecuted Christians, warned this could be the "last migration of Christians from Mosul.”

At least 200 families, many Christian, managed to reach the Mar Mattai Monastery and about 50 families an hour were reportedly arriving in Al Qosh, 45 kilometers (28 miles) from Mosul, seeking shelter at another monastery. Others fled as far as Dohuk, some 80 kilometers (50 miles) outside Mosul, while schools in mainly Christian villages also opened their doors, Christians said.

Local residents said new arrivals are desperate for mattresses and blankets, as many carry only a plastic bag with a few clothes. Some Christians claimed they were forced to leave their cars behind at check points and walk for many hours to safer regions.

Yet,  Christians said it was difficult to hide as Islamic militants were also entering Christian villages, including Qara Qosh. Fighters were also seen on their way to Tikrit, the hometown of late Iraqi leader Sadam Hussein........

Nina Shea writing at NationalReview:
....The government of Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city, fell overnight to the jihadist Islamic State of Iraq and Levant, also called the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Mosul’s panic-stricken Christians, along with many others, are now fleeing en masse to the rural Nineveh Plain, according to the Vatican publication Fides. The border crossings into Kurdistan, too, are jammed with the cars of the estimated 150,000 desperate escapees.

The population, particularly its Christian community, has much to fear. The ruthlessness of ISIS, an offshoot of al-Qaeda, has been legendary. Its beheadings, crucifixions, and other atrocities against Christians and everyone else who fails to conform to its vision of a caliphate have been on full display earlier this year, in Syria.........

ISIL Blows up Churches in Niniveh, Terrorizes People
Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorist group is putting Iraq  at risk by killing innocent people, attacking sacred buildings, churches and convents.

Sant'Egidio community, which promotes dialogue between religions, described in a statement reports of "numerous victims" and attacks on "sacred buildings, churches and convents, which have been set alight."

Sant'Egidio, which said around half of Iraq's 400,000 Christians live in the Niniveh province, said “an explosion of extremist violence is putting at risk a project of religious integration and social development, based on coexistence and collaboration between Christians and Muslims.”

As many as half a million Iraqis fled their homes in Mosul as ISIL vowed on its Twitter account "not to stop this series of blessed offensives."

Sant'Egidio called on the international community and the Iraqi government “to do everything possible to interrupt the spiral of violence.”

Church leaders in northern Iraq struggled to find shelter for Christians who were among hundreds of thousands who fled Mosul, the country's second-largest city, after Islamist forces took over much of the town, a Chaldean Catholic archbishop said.

News reports said several hundred heavily armed members of the al-Qaeda-inspired ISIL occupied government facilities, broadcast stations and banks as they worked their way through the city. They reportedly terrorized people and attacked everything that come to their eyes......

Marta Petrosillo writing at ACN:
...."We have never witnessed anything like it before.  A large city like Mosul plunged into chaos and at the mercy of the groups that have attacked it". That is how Chaldean Archbishop Amel Shimon Nona of Mosul has described to the Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) the tragic situation facing Iraq's second city, which has been under siege now for almost two days. ....

.....Obviously, the jihadist presence is a cause of real concern to the Christians, and in the last few hours in fact, news has already been coming in of attacks by ISIS on four churches and a monastery. "We have not received any threats", the archbishop told ACN, "because by now all the Catholic faithful have abandoned the city. Who knows if they will ever be able to return there?" In 2003 the Christian community in Mosul numbered around 35,000 souls. In the 11 years that followed the outbreak of war this number had tragically fallen to around 3,000. "Now there is probably no one left there." .....

From AINA news:
.....World Watch Monitor  reported that ISIS have moved into Christian areas near Mosul, and have occupied the Assyrian (also known as Chaldean and Syriac) village of Qaraqosh and entered the St. Behnam Monastery.

ISIS has warned the Christian residents of Mosul, specifically women, to wear the Islamic veil. The warnings have come at checkpoints setup throughout the city by ISIS. The husband of an Assyrian woman was abducted at a checkpoint and threatened with death if his wife did not don the Islamic veil.

ISIS members bombed an Armenian church which was under construction in the Left Bank neighborhood, near al-Salaam hospital.

The Church of the Holy Spirit was looted by ISIS members, who removed most of its electrical equipment.........
