According to our esteemed newspaper the Globe & Mail, crime in Canada has hit a four-decade low But, before you go "Yippeeeeeee Yahoooo!" how about we check to see why certain Police Departments in certain Provinces don't report crimes ... of any kind.
Nada, nothing, none, zero.
StatCan, from where the Globe & Mail probably got their numbers, needs a complete overhaul. Their statistics are far from accurate. It's not just the crime statistics, many other numbers this government agency supplies are far off from the reality of things. Look at the chart below for 2012 and see where StatCan has placed different cities in comparison to others. Do you think that's accurate? Need I say more?
Did StatsCan check with those police departments that fail to report crime in their areas of jurisdiction? Are we to believe that the Utopia of Quebec is totally crime free just because their reporting mechanism is a total failure? How did StatCan get hold of Quebec's figures, if there are any, and why is the Province of Quebec not reporting those figures at their websites?

Of course, we are living in a much safer country than the one down south. The number of crimes in any one of the States in the US might be more than the crimes committed in the whole of Canada .... but let's not forget the percentages. Our population is approximately 10% to that of the USA's almost 350 M (after the 11 M illegals waiting for US Citizenship.).
